Incredible: Chilean Rides Motorcycle Off a 3000-Foot Cliff in Andes

Julio Munoz, Chilean daredevil, accomplished an incredible feat when he rode his motorcycle off of a 3300-foot cliff in the Andes mountains. Munoz free-fell 3000 feet before opening his parachute and landing safely. His bike, meanwhile, crashed into pieces.

Sky News:

Daredevil Julio Munoz raced towards a specially prepared ramp at full tilt, hit the middle of it, and soared off the 3,300ft cliff in the Andes mountain range.

Discarding his bike, which crashed into the rocks below, he only opened his parachute 200ft from the ground and landed safely.

The 37-year-old had been planning the stunt – which took place in the Loma Rabona region of Chile and cost $100,000 – for three years.

Now, what really would have been cool is if he had strapped himself to the cycle & drove off when he landed. That would have been a topper for that stunt.

What in the world is so “incredible/stunning/unbelievable” about this? The guy used a parachute. Jump out of a plane, jump off a motorcycle, what’s the difference?

He destroyed a perfectly good motorcycle. When the machines take over they are going to remember that.

You are right it was a waste of a good bike. I am confused though what cost him $100,000.00? Did he get paid anything to do this? Why?

@sissykatz— There are so many analogies to Obama and the government. The spending for the jump is one of them. I to ask why so expensive?

“In 1974, Mr. Knievel decided he would jump 1,600 feet across the Snake River Canyon in Idaho. Before thousands of spectators and thousands more on a closed-circuit television broadcast, he took a rocket-powered motorcycle up a 108-foot ramp at 350 miles an hour and soared some 2,000 feet over the canyon floor.

But his parachute opened prematurely, and he and the cycle drifted to the canyon floor, leaving him without serious injury.”

@ Dale: Okay you made me think bout that but I stand by my analogy. The economy is the bike being ridden over the cliff and is destroyed at the bottom. The rider, BHO, is the one taking the economy over the cliff and the rider is saved by the parachute….

You mean that a cheap motorcycle, a parachute and some plywood and 2X4s cost $100,000? I’ve got a few things around my house that I would be willing to sell this guy like my old 88 toyota pickup. I‘ll be more than willing to sell it to him for a measly 50 grand and I’ll even throw in a full tank of gas too. That is if he takes my offer before obama drives the gas prices up much higher.
