Incredible Dolphin ‘Stampede’ Caught on Video

Incredible Dolphin Stampede Caught on Tape

A group boating off the Southern California coast experienced the whale and dolphin watch of a lifetime Thursday, crossing paths with a rare dolphin pod “stampede.” CBS reports that 2,000 dolphins raced the boat and at times were swimming as fast as 25 mph:

Raw video of the stunning phenomenon:

A wonderful thing to see when nature comes to play with man in natures environment. Idiot environmentalists think man is not a part of nature, that we are a virus. Heres to show WE ARE A PART OF NATURE and nature still loves us. Put a smile on my face

VicksVaporub… Youre a blithering media matters dope. Do you even know what a neocon is? It is a social liberal that wants a strong national defense and foriegn policy. If you have a problem with a strong national defense and foriegn policy than you are a coward and a traitor. My only problem with the neocons is that they are social liberals.

Peace through superior firepower as President Regan said, smaller government that answers to the people not rules over the people, and a sound fiscal policy that reduces taxes, unburdens the makers to give to the takers. 49.5% of Americans now pay ZERO in federal tax, 60% of Americans now get some form of government handout paid for by the rest of us who have OUR measly paycheck stripped to the point of starvation, to pay so some dope head can sit home watching Jerry Springer and eating steaks and pork chops that I can longer afford.

Thank you very much nobama you son of a commie biatch, for taking my hard worked for prosperity and giving it to some asinine slug who refuses to work. Thank you for intentionally destroying the GREATEST nation on earth.

Dolphins are so cool, they are able to swim right along boats and they love it, without getting hit by the boat, or the propellers. They have been in the ocean for millions of years, yet they evolve to have fun with us when we visit their environment. Amazing.

You can trust them if you want. Dolphins are the wolves of the ocean and I wouldn’t swim with one. They are a wild animal like anything else and if one ever got a wild hair up its blow hole, they could kill you quick as a shark. Maybe my fear is unfounded, but I’m not gonna chance it. And don‘t even think I’ll touch water with seals of sea lions around.

At one time the skys were filled up with birds, so I imagine the oceans were filled to the brim with thes

Not funny at all Dolphins are intelligent and have extra sensory abilities that are vastly better then humans. Could it be they are schooling together to protect the species from impending Doom that is about to arrive.

I can‘t watch it and keep from wondering how many dolphins were getting shredded by the boat’s propeller as they cut through the stampede going faster than the dolphins were swimming. Too bad they didn’t turn the camera around to behind the boat. Maybe they were just swimming for their lives away from a thoughtless boat!

Iyou have ever been around when Dolphins are swimming around a bot, they are adept enough to keep from getting hit by a boat, in fact, they love getting as close to a boat as they can. They ar emuch smarter than you give them credit for. I have been out with them, they are amazing creatures, and I would wager that none of them were hit by this boat. It could have even been a sailboat, which would not have had a propeller spinning, anyway.

Dolphins feel vibrations way before humans sense or hear what’s causing the commotion.
They feel naturally aspirated engines and turbines miles away, in or near the water.
They have a little difficulty feeling the vibrations of nuclear powered vessels because it messes up their ‘sonar’, but they do feel the vessel moving water.

Touch one … You’ll be amazed at the energy emanating from them.
These creatures are the angels of the sea and are fully aware of their surroundings.

I thought the same thing . Why was the boat so close? maybe dolphins are smart and can, under normal conditions, avoid collisions. However just like humans sometimes panic for no reason perhaps a bit of caution was what was called for in this case. I‘m not a rabid tree hugger but I don’t want to hurt anything or scare something for “sport”.

You need to put your mind at ease. Dolphins do NOT wind up shredded by boat propellers when they are swimming around them. It would be like you being worried about being destroyed by the wheel of your child‘s tricycle when you’re out walking with him – highly unlikely.

They are almost as intelligent as we are – they know the propeller is there and to stay away from it.
And in the water, they are as dexterous as an Olympic gymnast is on land – they are very capable of staying away from it.

      Be at peace.

What a joyous sight! I was lucky enough to see a large group of dolphins while on a whale-watching boat off Monterey a few years ago. I remember the pilot saying there were about 900 dolphins around us, and there were actually three different species. Even they were surprised to see it. It sure made up for not seeing a blue whale and just catching the end of a baby humpback breach lol. I would love to see a sight like the one in this video!

I live in laguna beach (next town north) on the ocean and I see this often. Large schools of dolphin (in this case porpoises, smaller) that range in the hundreds , if not thousands. No big deal, it happens all the time. Sometimes it appears as if there is an offshore gale of wind that covers a square mile. Just a school of porpoises in the thousands. So much going on out there. Very refreshing.

I’ve seen this dozens of times before and even have similar video. When you go out on the local fishing boats in So. Cal. waters, this is a common site even down in Mexican waters. It is always a great thing to see. They often ‘play’ at the bow of the boat and ride the wakes that the boat creates. They are very playful mammals!
