I feel bad for her….but….what is she thinking crossing that dark road, wearing black..and then somehow assuming the drivers will see her….and her obviously not watching what she is doing or timing her crossing at all.. It’s not like its a crosswalk..and why is she walking? She obviously didn’t see the car ..cause if she did..she would have either backed up or hauled ass.

Either in the road or on the shoulder. They are some of the most dangerous places there is. Even more so than riding a motorcycle, you become invisible the moment you are in the road. You have to make every effort to be seen.

Maybe our Govt. should write a book, and explain how we should all look before we cross the road? What, it sounds exactly like this “NY Releases Doomsday Manual for Possible Apocalyptic Event” If we have an apocalyptic event, most people would not be able to read it, becuase we won’t have lights! Just saying, where is our Brains in this country? Stop spending America!……..

    More lights won’t solve stupid.

The problem was the woman crossing the road in the dark and not watching for cars.

It was an accident. Hope she is alright and we don’t have to pay for it.

You wear white or reflective clothing if you are going to be biking at night, everyone knows that. Don’t blame it on the road or the lights, blame it on the lady who should have known better than to be walking IN the middle of the road, at night.

There was a deaf girl who was walking her bike across the street, which was a highway bypass, in Richlands, North Carolina, a few years ago in broad daylight. A big truck could not stop in time and hit her. It killed her.

Hard to tell for sure but it looked like she was wearing dark clothing and I definitely didn’t see anything reflective on her or the sides of her bike. She didn’t deserve to be hit but visibility is up to the cyclist, pedestrian, etc. A dark road at night is not the place to practice your ninja skills.

It is sad that this happened, even sadder that she will probably not be charged with anything and have all of her medical paid for. Not to mention, the police will be to blame. Already in the report people are blaming the city for not having lights up. No one said a thing about the stupidity involved.

Watch the hood dip down right as you see her shoes… The cop braked hard as soon as humanly possible IMO. Probably the only reason she lived.
Sorry to be insensitive, but she really shouldn’t be in the gene pool… AND she should be responsible for the damage to the police car.

This woman appears to be dressed in dark colors, except for her white sneakers, and I do not see any reflectors or lights on her bike. Not having taken even basic precautions to make herself visible, she still doesn’t seem to be making any effort to avoid the car; she clearly expects it to see her and stop. To me it seems pretty clear she’s responsible for what happened here.
