4th Of July Special: Here are the 76 Most American Things Ever

Happy 4th of July from the editors here at The Blaze!

As the divisions in our country get to the point of boiling over this election season (It’s a tax! It’s a mandate!) it might be healthy to take a day off and appreciate what it is to be “American.”  So this Independence Day, The Blaze gives you seventy-six things (get it, 1776) we can all agree are the most American.

United States of America is a very unique country comprised of people from all over the globe coming here for freedom and a better life. Will they still come ? Will they when they find that under this president we are losing our freedoms . That drug companies will no longer be able to fund looking for new medications to cure illness. If Obama had been a leader during the revolution would he have been an asset or would we have lost by the division he created. We founded our ideas with the word of God as a moral compass, today we have no compass in our goverment. We have replaced healthcare that worked with one that will be like those in Europe and Canada that had long waiting lines for care. How many physicians will retire early or not accept the new health care and be cash only, many I fear. Pray for the USA, time is ticking.

CHILDOFTHEKING, Excellent point with Red Skelton. I grew up watching his show weekly. No better example of the Pledge either. The Marx Brothers were the better family to carry that name.
I did notice a few other things though. John Garand was a Canadian, but at least the U.S. had the sense enough to adopt his rifle. John Deere tractors have engines made in France, and final assembly is in Germany. The Boy Scouts, and my son is an Eagle Scout, was adopted from England. Gotta love that poster of Chesty Puller though. I’m retired from the Army, but have read a lot about Chesty and have a lot of admiration for him.

ChildOfTheKing, Thank you for reminding me of the Red Skelton “Pledge of Allegiance”. . .I haven’t heard it in a long time, but I remember hearing in when I was in grade school. We had a Principal who would play it at least once a year. . .it truly should have been included in this list.

John Wayne should not have been last. . .

@ Black, you do realize that most NASCAR fans are very Patriotic and NASCAR is one of very few sports events where they say a prayer before every race, honors the Military and usually have Military there and sings the National Anthem at every single race. Lets see you drive a race car for over 300 miles when it is 90 degree’s out and not call it a sport.

If you enjoy cars going around in circles 300 times, well..you are easily entertained. That’s great they can do all that, but driving in circles will never be a sport. I prefer a real, sport, like football. Honoring the Military and praying have nothing to do with Nascar.

@tompaineknowsthescore: Not quite right. I’m originally from the UK, the US version of English is actually closer to older English, it represents how it was when the pioneers left. The re‘s instead of er’s and lack of u’s in British English actually represent corruption (the technical term, not the pejorative) of the language by surrounding languages, most notably French. This would always piss off my former countrymen when I pointed it out upon them moaning about such things!

Happy 4th everyone, God bless America!

As long as we remember that it is the seed of freedom implanted in ALL of our hearts (bc unless citizens have lived most their lives in a truly FOREIGN Socialist/Marxist country they have only known marxism in the context of a Free Republic) that not only makes us unique but is the overall factor that unites us.

A little disappointed with “Multiculturalism”. Our country was founded as a place where many cultures could assimilate into one, not maintain the culture they left.

So very true, we are supposed to be the “Great Melting Pot”. . .with all the PC crap, we have gone from “Melting Pot” to this multi-culturally divided country. . .where Liberals try to exploit what makes us different, instead of extolling on what makes us great, what makes us that “shining beacon on the hill” that Reagan talked about.

      God Bless America!

We have the FREEDOM to assimilate if we want to, and the FREEDOM to maintain our ethnic culture (within legal bounds of course) if we want to. We are NOT the Borg. This is what makes America great, FREEDOM for the individual.

This is how I understand what you are saying – we had an exchange student from Germany. His greatest pride came when someone told him they could not detect an accent. On the other hand, we lived next door to a family who never even tried to learn English to get by in our community. When I saw them in the grocery store, it was difficult for them to find what they wanted. Two generations ago, families coming to live in the states wanted to blend into our culture. We have problems when immigrants want to replicate their culture here and force it on everyone.

I think they mean “service” as in companies that are created to do jobs such as contractors, cabs, gardeners, hotels, restaurants, etc…

I own a service business because we sell custom software, not a single product.

American run businesses tend to have far superior service than European businesses; think Publix verse Aldi’s or Ikea.

Absolutely agree, 1st NASA has admitted to filming footage, and anybody who has seen Jay Weiner‘s doc on Stanley Kubrick’s making of “The Shining” will never fall for the BS.
A single space shuttle mission went into the Van Allen radiation belt. The astronauts aboard stated “we could see shooting stars w/ our eyes closed”, this is an effect of radiation. No Apollo astronuts ever reported such an effect.

The only thing the naive can do is make derogatory comments that went out int he 60′s.
