Indiana Lawmaker: Girl Scouts Is a ‘Radicalized Organization’ that ‘Sexualizes’ Young Girls

Indiana state Rep. Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne) is capturing headlines after calling the Girl Scouts a “radicalized organization” that “sexualizes” young girls and promotes homosexuality. In addition to pledging to pull his young daughters out of the Girl Scouts, he is refusing to support a resolution that would herald the organization’s 100th anniversary. He outlined his concerns in a letter written to his fellow Republican lawmakers.

Indiana state Rep. Bob Morris Calls Girl Scouts Radicalized

Indiana State Rep. Bob Morris

“In a letter obtained by The Journal-Gazette of Fort Wayne on Monday, Rep. Bob Morris of Fort Wayne said he did some research on the Internet and found allegations that the Girl Scouts are a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood, allow transgender females to join and encourage sex,” the Associated Press reports. In his letter, dated Feb. 18, Morris wrote (read the full letter here):

…abundant evidence proves that the agenda of Planned Parenthood includes sexualizing young girls through the Girl Scouts, which is quickly becoming a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood instructional series and pamphlets are part of the core curriculum at GSA training seminars. Denver Auxiliary Bishop James D. Conley of Denver last year warned parents that “membership in the Girl Scouts could carry the danger of making their daughters more receptive to the pro-abortion agenda.” [...]

I have two daughters who have been active in the Girl Scouts of Limberlost Council in Northeastern Indiana. Now that I am aware of the influence of Planned Parenthood within GSA and other surprisingly radical policies of GSA, my two daughters will instead become active in American Heritage Girls Little Flowers organization. In this traditional group they will learn about values and principles that will not confuse their conservative Hoosier upbringing.

In the past, The Blaze has covered some of the liberal bias allegations against the Girl Scouts. In December, we highlighted the fact that one of the group’s workbooks had trumpeted Media Matters as a source to debunk media misinformation. And in January, we highlighted a proposed cookie boycott being led by a California Girl Scout. The Huffington Post has more regarding the controversy surrounding the organization:

The Girl Scouts have been criticized by conservatives after allowing a 7-year-old transgender child into a Colorado troop in the fall. Ashley Sharp, assistant director of marketing for the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana, told the Indiana News Center that there are several websites dedicated to “exposing” the organization. “Misinformation is passing as fact,” Diane Tipton, president of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, told the Washington Post in January. “The Girl Scout organization does not take a position on abortion or birth control, and these topics are not part of the Girl Scout program or our materials. We believe these matters are best discussed by girls with their families.”

In response to the Indiana representative’s claims, the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana Michiana put together a response document (PDF) that attempts to debunk the “attacks” the organization has received.

So is this the tactic where by this type of stuff is referenced by multiple web sites, radio shows and perhaps even Fox in an effort to promote it as something other than pure BS.

For the record my daughter has not been presented with any of the allegations. I would agree that there may be some branches that promote certain agendas, but I think it may be a little premature to say ALL of the Girl Scouts are like this. I am very involved with what my kids learn and I would not tolerate that crap!

Girls Scouts are run by parents and driven by GSA Resources. My wife was a leader and it‘s been several years now but I don’t think the reach is in all locations. I do think you should be on your guard and know who’s teaching what. So, could be worse in one area over another. With that said, if GSA is progressively demonstrating behaviors unacceptable to your liking, this is America and don’t be afraid to change. I know when I lead a cubsout den and pack, my den baselined on the books but we were more creative and didn’t wait to go on a hike to be a boyscout. It is what you make it and hopefully in your area you or other parents participating aren’t pushing agendas. Girlscouts and CubScouts have always had religious ties and have had high morals, sounds like these are breaking down. It doesn’t help with all the freaks showing up as our leaders, that’s for sure.

As much as I liked their cookies, I would encourage everyone to forgo them for a nice bakery cookie. I would sooner give these sick fers money than cut off my own limb. Rant over.

Bingo! It appears that radical feminism became the underlying philosophy of girls scouting years ago, IMO. When you’re a Marxist and your goal is to infiltrate every social institution in America, you just can’t overlook little girls. Of course, radical Marxism has its roots firmly established in taxpayer funded Sociology curriculums in colleges and universities all across America as shown in Marxist Valley College at Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iVmh0VCkL4

If the leftists can’t steal your kids minds one way through their Marxist indoctrination – no problem – they have roots in other social institutions that will. :-/

      -Violence Against Women Act
      -Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
-Funding for WIC (Women, Infants and Children)
-access to preventive health services, prenatal healthcare etc. thru Title X cuts
      -a comprehensive, adequate definition of r a p e
-services to elderly (2/3 of whom are women) providing meals, housing assistance, employment -and most recently, unbelievably, access to birth control

When Girl Scout Cookies were circulating around my office recently I pointed out to a co-worker that the Girl Scouts are including Planned Parenthood materials and links to Media Matters in their programme. She was disbelieving at first and after she looked it up online she was dumbfounded. A strong position must be taken against the left’s incursion into the Girl Scouts. I applaud Morris for taking a strong position.

As a former Girl Scout leader, I know this to be true first hand. They have strayed from what was originally intended by Juliette Lowe. I recall Girl Scouts had invited Patricia Ireland (former head of N.O.W.) to speak at a conference. You cannot get more radically feminist than that.

Even Pelosi has tied the Girl Scouts to Planned Parenthood… http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/02/pelosi-girl-scout-relationship-with-planned-parenthood-valuable/

In the video, the Girl Scouts claim they do not take a stand on such issues as homosexuality or abortion, but they do as all good progressives should and sneak under the radar.

Thank you, Bob Morris, for calling attention to this problem. Most people wouldn’t have any idea otherwise.

I’m presently a Girl Scout Leader and have been for the past 8 years! I’ve never seen anything in my 8 years about Planned Parenthood come across in any emails. I attend every monthly meeting at our council office and we have never spoken about abortion or any other controversial subject.
I would never assume I should speak about that with one of my girls. I would always steer them towards their parents. My girls are now Cadettes and are in 7th Grade. I’m sure they have questions, but it’s not my job to answer questions pertaining to the above subjects. I think Girl Scouts does a great job and it’s pretty much run by volunteers with boots on the ground. We get little support from the people that are in the offices at least in our council. I‘m sure it’s not really much different elsewhere! Please don’t bash the Girl Scouts because of someone, somewhere who made one bad decision at some point. The Volunteers like I said do great work and really try to pass along the True Girl Scout message. That being The Girl Scout promise and The Law. You can look it up online if you want to see what I’m talking about. My daughter has been doing this since Kindergarten and she absolutely loves it. She’s had great experiences and met some wonderful people. We’ve had some great guest speakers to our meetings who are fantastic role models. It’s been an awesome learning experience so far and she wants to continue this through High School.

I was a leader for four years in the 90′s (both as a Junior leader as well as Brownie co-leader for a friend’s troop at the same time). I was heavily involved at our local level, co-chair of the cookie sales, serving on the board for our council’s encampment, was known on a first name basis at our regional office, etc. I’m not trying to go toe-to-toe with you but want you to know I know what I am talking about. (Maybe being just outside of the extremely liberal city of Chicago made things more obvious, not sure.)

I saw how insanely PC everyone had to be and bucked against it. I had someone from a pregnancy care center come and talk to the girls about abortion (what happens to the baby during the procedure) and that abstinence is the best way for them to live. I did not ask for permission from our chairperson in order to have this speaker during our meeting because I was told I would be denied. Out of our troop of approximately 20 girls, only 3 did not attend. I received only positive feedback from parents afterwards.

I’m sure you, individually as a leader, can do this as well. But if you try to follow the Girl Scouts guidelines to a ‘t’, you will see things as I did.

My daughter put my granddaughter in Daisies last year. I told her that things will not be as rosy as they were when she was a Girl Scout (because I shielded her). She did not sign her daughter back up this year. For the best.

patriot4evermore, thanks for your awesome post. I took my turn as troop leader of a GS troop leader for a year, was Cookie Coordinator for several years and was the Service Unit Booth Coordinator for a year. GS is a great organization, one does that wonderful things both for the girls as individuals and for the communities they serve in. Our troop’s parents were equally split between conservatives and liberals but that never came up, not once, because the focus was on the girls and community service.

It’s so sad to see the organization demonized by someone, somewhere for political reasons. In my view Girl Scouts is one of best experiences a young girl can have.

If the Girl Scouts are a radical organization the ‘sexualizes’ young girls then “We The People” must follow suit and file the complaint that the US Department of education is ensuring that, at great financial investment, our children remain deprived of any form of education that will provide them with dependable employment once they graduate.
Furthermore, government employees (teachers) are physically (sexually) molesting our children daily in all 50 states.

I too tried the Brownies … then I found 4-H .. don’t know about now .. but then it was a very good fit … we did crafts and projects .. I wasn’t a farm kid .. but met many and that reinforced the strong work ethic of my parents .. went on to be a camp counselor in the summers at local camp and made many good friends.

I went to check on the pledge to see what they are saying now …

      As a true 4-H member, I pledge…

      My head to clearer thinking,
      My heart to greater loyalty,
      My hands to larger service,
      My health to better living
      for my club, my community,
      my country and my world.

      History of the 4-H Pledge
The 4-H pledge, written by Otis Hall of the Kansas State College of Agriculture, was officially adopted by the 4-H program at the first National 4-H Camp in June 1927. At the request of several states and on the recommendation of 4-H members attending the National 4-H Conference, the pledge was changed in 1973 to include “my world.” Their addition is the only change ever made to the 4-H pledge.

I didn’t remember “my world” but 1973 was my last year as a member and a counselor so I guess that was after my time by the time the word came down.

Nope. But, try this found post:
Oh, my God, I have never killed anything. Not so much as a bug. On purpose, anyway. So I was driving to the barn last night, blissfully dreaming of whether the mare was going to toss me or not, when a little bunny ran right in front of me. With oncoming traffic, I couldn’t swerve, I braked a little, but it was instantly apparent bunny wouldn’t make it.
I heard a Bang! then saw fur fly over the hood. I screamed, managed to keep the car on the road, and burst into tears (ok, I love bunnies). So I look in the rear view mirror to see what damage I had done, and nothing. I continued driving to the barn, upset, knowing I was a bunny murderer. So I get to the barn and figure I should check the front of my car for damage when lo and behold the ENTIRE bunny is plastered against my left headlight. If it hadn’t been real, it would have been funny. It was hanging on to the headlight with it’s front paws. I screamed, literally, and went into the barn.
It took me 20 minutes to find someone willing to go remove it. My ride was ruined, how can one concentrate when one has just murdered an innocent bunny??? My headlight is smashed to pieces.

      > I called my husband (a hunter) who says “yah?…Can you bring it home?”

Just be thankful it wasn’t a deer.
You would have had more than a smashed headlight and probably wouldn’t have been able to drive home.

;^> Hubby would have been thrilled tho.

Years ago I was a girl scout and I was so very proud. His allegations are so that I would need some proof before I believe it has changed that much. Prove it or be still and do not discredit any thing in life.

I was at a grocery store with Girl Scouts selling cookies and I told them that I wanted to buy the cookies, but Fox news and Glenn Beck think the Girls Scouts are communists and radicals.

Fortunately, since the majority of people in this country are rational, reasonable people, the leaders, I, and about 15 people within earshot laughed hysterically.
I bought 3 boxes and await the fall of this great nation

Oh my. Now we have to be on the look out for those very scary Girl Scout troops too? The insanity going on around this country over the past few years just keeps ratcheting up and up.

The girls scouts published in their handbook that Media Matters is the place for kids to go to clear up mis-information. Thats more than enough for me to drop my support.

Oh I dropped my support for them as well. going out and screaming about this with poor word choices loses the actaul argument and cause. That is what I am sick and tired of. Obama, not a Christian, saying things like some of our presidential candidtaes have like he is a muslim, non christian etc just provides talking points and alienates a great deal of voters. It is very easy for me to think before I speak especially in business I sure wish these morons would too
