Infamous ‘Ground Zero Mosque’ to Open Exhibit This Wednesday

On September 27, PBS’s “Frontline” will air a special called, “The Man Behind the Mosque.” Above, find the trailer for the show.

NEW YORK (The Blaze/AP) — The infamous project that came to be known as the “Ground Zero Mosque” is, once again, finding its way into the news. The organizers of the Islamic community center and mosque near the site of the September 11 terror attacks have decided that it’s time to officially open a portion of the building.

The newly remodeled community space on the ground floor of the building owned by Park51 is scheduled for a grand opening on Wednesday. A photo exhibition will be the first public program. The New York Times has more about this event, which is sure to capture both local and national attention:

At first glance, the two men and their projects may not seem to have much in common: Danny Goldfield, 44…has spent the past seven years trying to photograph a child from every country in the world — and each child must live in New York City. Sharif El-Gamal, 37, is the developer behind Park51, the Muslim community center and mosque planned on a site two blocks from ground zero.

The two have formed an unlikely partnership: Mr. El-Gamal has offered the existing building at the site on Park Place as an exhibition space for some of the 171 photographs Mr. Goldfield has completed so far. And Mr. Goldfield is allowing his work, called NYChildren Photography, to be the centerpiece of Park51′s first public fund drive.

The New York Times has assembled a slideshow of some of the children’s photos that you can view here. Park51 Chief of Staff Katerina Lucas says the exhibit will hopefully show those opposed to the Islamic center what kind of space it’s meant to be. Park51′s Twitter account has been actively promoting the initiative:

The rest of the Park Place building has yet to be renovated. The developer has said it will be years before the project, envisioned with a mosque, health club and theater, is fully realized. Back in January, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the Park51 leader who was involved in much of the controversy surrounding the religious center, was replaced.

      My Pilgrim (not pilgram) grandparents came to America to freely practice their own religion, not yours ( I take it you are muslim). If you would like to learn about what the Pilgrims actually thought, a great book to read is “Mayflower”, by Nathaniel Philbrick.

      Actually I am Catholic, not that it matters. But your attitude just proves how small minded you are, I love the argument that religious freedom is reserved for one group not the other.       Good one Carol. There’s this little book called a history textbook. You should read it. A little wordy, but a good read nonetheless. But they mentioned this thing called the Constitution that granted freedom of any religion to any citizen of the United States. If you want religious oppression where only your religion is allowed, go move to Iraq. Until then, know what you are talking about before you start talking. Thanks.

    An official opening timed to coincide with Abbas pleading to the UN for his terror state sanctioning. This act proves the Ground Zero mosque has nothing to do with 911 healing or improving religeous coexistance. The mosque is an islamic fundamentalist in your face anti ZIONIST extreme agenda…. It is historically typical in Islam to make the infidels, kuffars and other non-Muslims pay the jizya…or ‘tribute’ money’ (also called taxes). But, as of Sept. 7, 2011, Park51 apparently did not meet the eligibility requirements because the organization has not yet received its nonprofit certification…hence Mr. Goldfield’s photo exhibit…the centerpiece of Park51′s first public fund drive?

      Islam hasn’t been hijacked by the actions of a few. It‘s writings and lessons command it’s followers to convert by force, enslave, rape murder and destroy. The Koran, Hadith and Sira promote those who wish to emulate the prophet to kill Jews and Christians. Your assertion that this isn’t true is a lie and quite frankly proves just what an enemy to the United States you really are.

      To compare the teachings and lessons from Muhammad to Christ is again a lie. There isn’t a single phrase, verse, chapter or book that you can pull from the New Testament that can ever imply, allude or mandate conversion, slavery or death. O yes you’ll bring the verse where father against son and brother against brother but that is a verse often used out of context and quite frankly is a lie most Muslims, progressives, communists and atheists use to try and prove a point. But they cant prove a point based on a lie.

      I’ve schooled you on this before. You share no historical proof to your statements and quite frankly many here view you as a prime example of the lies and distortion Obama won the presidency on. We actually enjoy showing just how wrong and inaccurate you are not only on this issue but almost every issue you post on.

If you want to know about about Islam, pick up a Qur’an and read it. Islam is the Qur’an. Hitler, the Nazis, and the SS were all Christian. KKK, Skin-Heads, Arian-Nation are all Christian. In order to be a member of those group the requirement is to be pure white and Christian. No athiest are allowed.

Muslims traditionally construct mosques or turn churches, synagogues, or othe non muslim religous structures where they have defeated the local “infidels’ into victory mosques. What can’t you understand about this concept? The West is once again under attack by a the cult of Islam but this time the Jihadists and other Muslim fanatics can destroy us easily.       I guess the line “Muslim community center and mosque” means there will be a mosque. Perhaps you should read the article before you put your foot in your mouth. That might wash with your little liberal progressive friends and may even get you a few pats on the back from them, but once again you fail in your endeavor.

      For the record and if you read something other than Media Blathers, you would know that Muslim’s have a tendency to grace those they perceive to conquer by building a mosque.

      There will be no hope for outreach and do not think that any Muslim community outreach facility has ever done so once the cameras were turned off.

      The truth is no matter what faith a person is it is in poor taste for that one religion (Muslim) to build a new mosque or anything “Muslim” that close to ground zero. Why is it so hard for you to understand? If those people had been slaughtered at the WTC by another faith then I would say the same thing about that faith. It is in poor taste and if you can not understand that then political correctness has done it’s job to shove your head very far up your rectum.

      The muslims who died in the towers are considered martyrs. They are necessary baggage who were eliminated for the cause. Muslims NEVER care about how many of their own they kill. They don’t even care if children are killed. Heck, they strap bombs to their own children and instruct them to blow themselves up and take out as many infidels as possible. As far as First Responders go, there has never been any mention of any muslims who were among the first responders, to my knowlege.

      Why do you defend a people who are so filled with hatred that their entire culture is devoted to the elimination of every other culture on the map? Do you think they will read your words and spare you if they take over our great country? NEVER. You couldn’t be loyal to your own; why should they believe you’d be loyal to them?       The Palestinians are the jihad nut jobs that have been kicked out of every arab county in the middle east for more than 100 years. Every islamic country offered to let them live there but these uneducated goat herders started killing the people of the host nations. Since 1964 the PLO has been kicked out at gun point by Egypt, Syria, Lebanon ( they killed Lebanese by the thousands) Sudan, and Libya. In Jordan King Hussein used his Army with tanks to chase Arafat out of town killing as many of the PLO as possible – by the way Jordan is an Islamic country.

      On the other hand Israel allowed them to live in peace and hired them to do manual labor so they could feed their families. But as usual the militant PLO wackos attacked Israel and they were smacked down for it.

      The Palestine state should not be allowed until they can demonstrate they can live in peace for two generations – then we might consider it.

      Wrong! It is going forward because the people who own the property want it to go forward. Furthermore, there is nothing illegal about this community center. You may not like the people who are involved with the building but that does not take away their right to use their property as they see fit.

      I find it funny that tea partiers and ultra conservatives always point to the Constitution but conveniently forget that the Constitution also protects those with whom you disagree. For example, most comments expressed outrage about the people in CA who were cited for holding a prayer group in their home, which by the way had nothing to do with infringing on the free exercise, it was merely a city ordinance to prevent large gatherings from residential neighborhoods. However, now the very same people want this community center to be outlawed because you don’t like the religion, people, or culture behind the project.

      The U.S. Constitution protects everyone, not just Christians and tea partiers.

    This will keep going until they feel we have run out of steam. What is a few more years to a culture that has not changed in over a thousand years. They will still be here in ten/twenty years. They will be the same and the Mosque will be built. By then the next generation will be in charge and they have been taught that Islam is not a problem. Bringing us down to thier level is their end game and their goal for the world. Islam will not progress to or embrace a modern world. We must be reduced to an 8th century mind set. What a waste.

      The Unions have said they they will refuse to work on this building. If the Union won’t work on it then pity the non-union worker trying to get to this site. This mosque will not get built, it’s just not going to happen. Bloomberg will be voted out and a mayor will be be elected who will have a more clarity on pushing this idea further uptown.

      Other major voices are saying just build it away from Ground Zero. It is Muslim arrogance and perceived entitlement that will undo this project.
