Intense Vid: Texas Student OK After Getting Hit By Bus While Sword-Fighting

A Texas college student escaped serious injury Friday after getting hit by a bus while sword-fighting in the middle of the street.
The student, identified as 18-year-old Nick Engmann, is seen on video charging into the street with a foam sword just as a bus comes barreling through. With a sickening crunch, Engmann is thrown back and lands splayed-out several feet away.

According to KXAN-TV, “Foam Sword Friday” is an end-of-semester tradition at the University of Texas at Austin where students gather on opposite sides of the street and run out to the middle to battle.
After he was hit, Engmann reportedly got back on his feet and was taken to the hospital. He was discharged two hours later, KXAN reported.
The driver of the bus was ticketed for running a red light. The bus was left with a smashed-in windshield as a result of the impact.
After the incident, one student posted on the “Foam Sword Friday” Facebook page that Engmann was doing “absolutely fantastic” and was “alert and alive.”
A post signed by Engmann stated he was “sorry the event got halted because of me fellow Longhorns!”
“I”ll individually try to make it up you all,” the post stated.
Employing the university’s well-worn slogan, he added, “Hook em!”

Most people now have been raised in the post stupid hurts childhood and they missed a crucial part of their learning experience. I learned early on that stupid hurts and now I look for crap that can go wrong before it has a chance to do so. I think that this guy’s video should go all the way to the final round of AFV and win. And, I swear, we saw a car going down the Drag with a couch balanced on top. One kid was hanging out the window on one side, holding onto it. The driver was driving with one hand and holding onto the other side out the window.
I also saw an ad among the many posted among in a beauty salon on the Drag. The ad said “Heather’s Holistic House Cleaning”. I wondered what that entailed- did Heather chant and burn incense over the john or something when she cleaned it?
Kids. Austin. It’s what they do. And the adult throwback hippies are often even stranger.
