Rebel “special forces” arrested Seif al-Islam Gadhafi – a son of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi indicted along with his father on crimes against humanity charges, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court said early Monday.
Seif Gadhafi was indicted with his father and Libya’s intelligence chief earlier this year for allegedly ordering, planning and participating in illegal attacks on civilians in the early days of the violent crackdown on anti-regime protesters.
Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo told The Associated Press that Seif Gadhafi had been detained by “rebel special forces.” He declined to give more details of the arrest or the source of the information.
“Tomorrow morning we will talk to them,” Moreno-Ocampo said of the rebels. “It is time for justice, not revenge.”
Seif Gadhafi’s detention came as rebels advanced into the Libyan capital Tripoli with little resistance and a rebel leader said the unit in charge of protecting Gadhafi and Tripoli had surrendered and joined the revolt, allowing the opposition force to move in freely
Moreno-Ocampo said he had no word on the whereabouts of Libyan leader Gadhafi.
“We hope that Moammar Gadhafi is also arrested and also faces justice,” he said. “There is no more impunity for these crimes.”
The Associated Press contributed to this article.

Posted on August 22, 2011 at 1:10amTomorrow morning we will know what kind of regime the rebels will be. If they turn Seif al Islam Gaddafi over to the international court they will probably be a democracy…if they don’t and kill him then they will be just like every other Muslim government.

Posted on August 22, 2011 at 2:02amThe choice of whether to allow the Ghadafi’s to be tried in foreign court or to be tried in Libya is a decision for the Libyans.
Summary execution is the usual fate for tyrants. I do not see why the Libyans would be judged harshly for doing that. I also do not see why we should be concerned one way or another.

on the other hand, while obama rejoices one more government overseas is destroyed, does he really think once his agenda starts the riots and battles HERE and it topples America’s govt for him, that HE will escape to his ‘safe house’ UNHARMED?

And it’s even more disgusting that the muslim brotherhood along with 26 or so other muslim organizations are set up here in the states and are having so much influence and power. And it’s even more disgusting that we have one for our “leader.” Disgusting

Posted on August 21, 2011 at 10:13pmIf we were smart, we would send them a statue, like the statue of liberty, to remind them that we helped them achieve this great achievement. In fact, we should send exact duplicates to them and the Algerians and the Egyptians. We should start making one for the Syrians, too. I can’t believe Beck and company are so scared of people being free to do as they please. Whatever happened to the concept of liberty and freedom for all? Are Americans so divorced from their founders so as to not even recognize what freedom and liberty looks and feels like?

Posted on August 21, 2011 at 10:23pmI think I recognize what liberty looks like. I‘m not sure I’m seeing it here, or in Egypt for that matter. Time will tell –soon, I think– whether the rebels are looking for a western-style constitutional republic or a big dose of sharia.
I notice that the charges listed do not include the sponsoring of terrorism.

Posted on August 22, 2011 at 10:06amI believe that we will see another radical Islamic state. Unlike our founders who had a grounding in English Common Law, the Lybians do not have that history. Their history is tribal and based in Islam. I think that they will go to their historical grounding. I just hope that the Islamic nation that does come about is not a radical state.

“Are you so deluded that you think you can simply will something away just because you disagree with it?”
You mean like when globalists think they can will national sovereignty away? You want other nations with which you have nothing to do, to chime in on whether you’re guilty of something or not? You are ready to be controlled, my friend.
This was basically one of the things our Founders went to war with Great Britain over.
See here.

Posted on August 21, 2011 at 10:45pmNo, DOC, I mean that there IS, in fact an International Criminal Court. Your fundamental disagreement with its structure, charter, agenda, etc. does not keep it from existing. Mine is an empirical statement of FACT. Yours are abstract, intellectual arguments (all of which I happen to agree with).

That is simply an incorrect statement.

Posted on August 21, 2011 at 11:24pmDoc….wouldn’t that be called the UN? I can’ believe that other countries can weigh in on our justice system. What was that with the President of Mexico having the right to tell us that we were like criminals or something for sending illegals home when they in fact wouldn’t tolerate that in reverse. Seems like the US is the only laughing stock these days.

If you’re just saying that there are people who think of themselves as an International Criminal Court, then I’d agree with you.
But you just got done disagreeing with me for “[thinking that I] can simply will something away just because [I] disagree with it”. So how come you don’t apply the same reasoning to the so-called International Criminal Court?
There is either national sovereignty or an International Criminal Court. I am an American, and I submit to OUR rule of law, not to some – as our Founders called it – “pretended legislation”.
