Iowa Governor Sees Rick Perry Running For President in 2012

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad says he thinks it’s very likely that Texas Governor Rick Perry will jump into the GOP presidential race. POLITICO:
“My lieutenant governor’s gotten a call from him. He’s put out some feelers in Iowa. The sense is that it’s very likely he’s will enter the field,” said Branstad, who pointed to Perry’s economic record as a major political asset.
“Texas has been a superstar in economic development. You know, California’s demise has been to Texas’s benefit. They’re out there taking industry and business out of California every day,” Branstad said. “I think Texas has kind of led the way.”
Branstad is basing that opinion on a conversation the two governors had Friday.
Branstad tells The Associated Press that Perry says his family is encouraging him to run. Branstad says he expects Perry to visit Iowa, home of the first caucuses, within the next month.
Branstad is at the National Governors Association meeting in Salt Lake City, which Perry is skipping. Perry called Branstad as he gathers input about a potential run.
Perry has been making hundreds of calls to potential donors, activists and political figures around the country.
Some have speculated that if on the ballot, Perry could be very successful among Iowa voters for his stance on social issues and as a pro-business governor other than Mitt Romney. As governor of Texas Rick Perry has lead his state to the number one or two spot over the last five years in CNBC’s annual “Top States for Business” ranking, and since assuming office in January 2001 Texas has had a 12.5 percent job-growth rate, higher than the rate for any other state with a former governor in the 2012 presidential field.
The Associated Press contributed to this article.

Posted on July 16, 2011 at 10:00pmRick Perry with either Michelle Bachman or Herman Cain as running mate with the other being picked to his Secretary of Labor, pre-election. Then throw in Ron Paul announced as Secretary of Treasury, Allen West as Secretary of Defense and Jim DeMint as Secretary of State. And just for giggles name Sheriff Joe Arpaio as Head of Homeland Security. Now there a preview of Obama’s worst nightmare just before the new Attorney General is announced.

This puts him in a position to know what it’s all about and deal with any problems they may cause in the future. Over all he has done an outstanding job in Texas. He has floated things in the past that went against the conservative grain and dropped them after hearing from the conservative voters. He did not listen to the liberal voice. He was in the military. He has grown as a man and conservative politician getting better with age. He has had everything thrown at him but the kitchen sink and has passed the tests. The liberals absolutely hate him. He has the looks and the talk to beat the crap out of obama. Of all the current candidates there is no one with a better chance of beating obama. If he runs do you want to take the chance of not voting for him and returning obama for 4 more yrs? With voter fraud and tricks the libs will pull do you want a close race or a landslide? I‘ve done my home work and I’m voting for Perry. His positives way out way his negatives.

Perry has a solid resume as Texas governor for 10 years. He could defeat Obama and may be the best chance the GOP has to do so. Alot of people are fed up with the “vote for the lesser of 2 evils” style of voting, but what other choice is there? Posted on July 17, 2011 at 10:59amIt is very early and I will not commit to supporting anyone yet. The “smart” money right now is not on anyone. But we should all have an idea of who we would like and support him or her. Let us also remain open minded about who it is we want to beat Obama in November of 2012, and be willing to support a different candidate. Because, if our freedoms are to survive we must defeat him.
This much I know for sure the worst conservative is better then the best progressive liberal. It certainly is a fact if we don’t get behind one candidate when one becomes the nominee, Obama will win again. Pick a conservative, any conservative, the very worst conservative you can think of and tell me if you prefer him (or her) or Obama. I know of no conservative that wants to destroy our freedoms and redistribute wealth to those who refuse to help themselves. I know of no conservative that advocates a welfare state. Of all the possible candidates the worst one is better than Obama.
Right now you all may support whoever you want, but once one becomes the Republican nominee we must get behind him or her or we can kiss this great country goodby.
A vote for a third party or not voting (is in essence a vote for Obama) is not an option in 12 or Obama will be reelected. For the sake of future generations of Americans we must avoid his reelection.
I happen to remember all the vitriol about Regan. He was a “converted Democrat” and a “dumb governor of California,”

And I particularly favor that second statement in which you cleverly launched that ad hominem attack at me disguised as an honest question, “Are you an Obama advocate?” despite the fact that I’m clearly a staunch opponent of the treasonous president.
“…The worst conservative is better than the best liberal.”
Hmm, looks like you’ve either forgotten, or have willfully ignored the fact that the “worst conservative” was the very reason that Barack Obama managed to win the election season in 2008. I’m willing to bet that had John McCain won, we would have been at the same situation that we’re in now, albeit at a slower rate, in which, from my viewpoint, would ACTUALLY be WORSE because we would still be asleep until the very last moment. Good point, although I doubt the Masons on the 17-1800′s had quite the grip on the economy and global policy as some groups with economic oligarchical admission might have today. (But strong for that time, certainly).

I would beg to differ dearly, given the fact that Rick Perry is a New World Order-supporting Bilderberger and the fact that Michele Bachmann is a former agent of the Internal Revenue Service. I wouldn’t want either of these RINOs, as well as all the other RINOs running for President, sitting in the White House.

Hmm, I have a very arduous time swallowing that. With Rick Perry supporting the Texas DREAM Act, shooting down the anti-TSA-groping bill, and grossly misusing taxpayer money to prop up his luxurious home, I really don‘t see how he’s capable of governing his own state, let alone being President.

As for Herman Cain, I would also stay far away from him, since he’s a former chairman of two banks sponsored by the Federal Reserve. In fact, he has no intention of auditing the Federal Reserve.

Posted on July 16, 2011 at 8:45pmYes, I’ve posted about this several times. For those that didn’t see them, he’s my Gov. and locals have it that he’s decided to run and will announce next month in Houston at the controversial prayer rally. He’s already being hammered by the left about that….which is totally constitutional & not political & paid for with private funds. Some will worry about him being like GWB, but they differ (in good ways in my opinion). He has been a critic of GWB re his spending for years…. a few years ago he was quoted as saying he was not a fiscal conservative (as he is) & was critical of some of the “Big Govn’t” stuff he passed.
He’s from a ranching family in West Texas — was a Captain in the AF, campaigned for previous jobs in a beat-up propeller plane. Pretty down-to-earth. A couple of links w/info:

Posted on July 16, 2011 at 9:02pmI agree with you. Think EVERYONE needs to really dig into the background of each candidate they are interested in…….that is a lesson people need to learn from the 2008 election! That said, I have voted for Perry against other candidates, and would again.

Posted on July 16, 2011 at 8:43pmI’ve met him twice and thought he was a very nice guy. I think he would be an asset in the race- the Republicans have several I could enthusiastically support. Republicans have an embarrassment of riches in the candidates- the Democrats just have an embarrassment.

Posted on July 17, 2011 at 12:21pmI agree. The Republicans have a wealth of excellent candidates, which is why none are way out front. If it comes down to Romney or Bachman vs Perry, I’ll go with Perry. However I’m still wanting to learn more about Ron Paul. The media ignores him, yet he is very wise and makes more sense than any of them. He may not be the polish we’ve grown accustomed to in a candidate, but he certainly doesn’t play political games and has the desire to get rid of corruption in Washington. Isn’t that what most of us really want?

That is not true, Texas has debt and problems that Perry is sweeping under the rug. Kay Bailey sucks eggs but she tried to expose this. Being a fan of Perry and his cheerleader won’t change reality.

Anyway what difference does it make, the country is not run by the President, but the Oligarchy Ruling Class. We are mere serfs begging for some F..ing Superhero to Save us. It ain’t gonna happen. SO far all I have seen are Frontman and not leaders, with the Exception of Ron Paul who they always marginalize as a cook. The media including fox are all promoters of the Oligarch Agenda.
