5 Years: Iran Increases Prison Sentence For Traveling to Israel

Iran Increases Prison Sentence to 5 Years For Those Visiting Israel

TEHRAN, Iran (The Blaze/AP) — Iranians traveling to Israel could go to prison for up to five years instead of only three months, after Iran’s parliament revised an existing ban for such trips.

The measure reflects Tehran’s security concerns over archenemy Israel. Iran claims to have dismantled several purported Israeli spy rings in recent years and arrested Iranians with alleged links to Mossad.

Fears over Iran’s purported search for a nuclear weapon, among other relational issues, have led to an uncomfortable relationship between the two nations. Today, Digital Journal reports that Israel may not alert the United States prior to an attack on Iran — an action that could be taken to prevent the development of Iranian nuclear weapon. DJ has more:

Israel has repeatedly attacked any state with nuclear facilities in its region, and done so successfully. There is absolutely no reason to believe that it wouldn’t attack Iranian facilities.

Nuclear weapons would give Iran a major card to play which may also be a trigger for Western action if it was believed that Iran were providing these weapons to terrorists like Al Qaeda or had intentions to do so.

On Saturday, there was a massive blast at an Iranian missile base. Considering the frustration between the two nations, some are speculating that Israel was behind the explosion. TIME has more about the blast as well as a recent report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA):

Last week’s report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said Iran had experimented with removing the conventional warhead on the Shahab-3 and replacing it with one that would hold a nuclear device. [...]

Coming the weekend after the release of the unusually critical IAEA report, which laid out page upon page of evidence that Iran is moving toward a nuclear weapon, the blast naturally sharpened concern over Israel‘s threat to launch airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Half the stories on the Tehran Times website on Sunday referenced the possibility of a military strike, most warning of dire repercussions.

Iranian state TV on Monday reported that parliament passed the new travel amendment, expanding the current prison term for voyaging to Israel to between two and five years.

Under a 1972 ban imposed by U.S.-backed Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, offenders faced possible imprisonment of up to three months.

At the time, the law was designed to mostly avert travel to communist countries.

Gee. If an Iranian can get 5 years for visiting Israel, I wonder what an Israeli would get for visiting Iran?

Hopefully, there will be a great change in the Iranian justice system once the whole Iranian system has gone up in smoke and flames?

I bet the survivors will welcome anyone who dares risk the nationwide radioactivity to visit what is left with open flippers.

It is not a question of if Israel will bomb Iran’s nuclear capability but when.
Israel will do this unilaterally if necessary. They have no other option.
The world -(except Syria) does not want a nuclear Iran – yes even china and russia.
If allowed to have a nuke – the worlds economies would be held hostage for years.
The eventual war will ensue – but will be over quickly but brutal with a great loss of lifeThe alternative is to do a slow agonizing bleed – with the world in a depression

      - Iran is not presently a direct threat to the United States (the bold words are vital)
      - Israel can defend herself (300 nuclear weapons) if we allow her to do so, which we should, and President Paul would not interfere in their doing so; Ron Paul supports Israeli sovereignty and their right to exist more strongly than any other candidate (another way to say this is “we should unshackle Israel”)
      - Pre-emptive war with Iran would lead to a greater quagmire in the region that would cost countless American lives and endless amounts of American treasure, and therefore it must be avoided at all cost
      - If Iran becomes a threat, and the American people through their representatives in Congress decide to go to war, President Paul will ensure that Congress declares war as the Constitution requires of us, ensuring checks and balances
      - If Iran truly becomes an imminent threat or if the country is attacked, President Paul will take swift and immediate action to defend the country as the Constitution authorizes him to do

It’s all about Israel, Israel, a country about the size of New Jersey with no natural resources, or any other value. The King-Crane Commission was correct.
The problem with America is in part AIPAC. The other part is the ignorance of the American people. Israel is the problem, always has been. It is the albatross around our neck, and our fundamentalists wear it with pride. Fools.

      Ask yourself,
what other countries in the world publicly arrogate to themselves the right to overthrow governments, bomb, assassinate, wage economic war, etc?

And what would the attitude of the U.S. government be toward another country that arrogated to itself such a right?

“When it comes to projecting power, the United States exempts itself from norms with which it expects to comply.”..and exempts itself from the Constitution!

Considering that Iran (the primary terrorist force in the world today) has attacked Israel many times through it‘s proxy’s (hezbollah, Syria, the PLO, etc) these attacks on enemy installations are in response to known threats to Israel….they are legally and morally justifiable!
Israel’s posession of nuclear weapons is one of the primary reasons why the country still exists today. During the last war in 1973, it became obvious that Israel WILL use it‘s nuclear weapons in the event that the country is overrun by it’s enemies (Iran, Egypt, heqbollah, the PLO, Jordan, etc) and thus we have not seen any further overt attacks…instead the islamist nations which surround it have taken to terrorist attacks instead, using the so-called “palestinians” as their disposable weapons of choice. Israel is the ONLY stabile country in the entire middle east and needs to be supported by our country instead of being tossed to the wolves as the current regime is doing….

      C. Schwehr, you just made most of that up out of whole cloth. No country in the Middle East has attacked its neighbors more than the Zionist, Jewish state of Israel. That’s a fact.
How does one define the primary terrorist force in the world today? Many objective people see terrorism as attacking those who have not attacked you, like our bombing of Yugoslavia, or Libya; and Israel’s bombing of Iraq and Syria. Many see terrorism as an invasion of a country who had no means of threat, like Iraq.
Terrorist nations use sophisticated weaponry to carry out their attacks. Terrorist groups use individuals. In principle, there is no difference. Israel is a terrorist nation. It was, in fact, founded on terrorism. See the Irgun, Stern Gang, and Haganah. They brought modern terrorism to the Middle East, and they won American support as a nation. Now you have the audacity to comment on Hezbollah, Syria, PLO, etc..
It is exactly this hypocrisy which fans the flames of war. Israel is the evil nation, no different than the Reich of past years. America is on the wrong side of history in its support of Israel.

From all the media coverage, I just sorta figured that. Come to find out, Arminijad is just a big mouth nut that is 14th down in line from the leader (sorta like Maxine Waters of the Middle East). The media just uses him to instill fear in America, so the military complex can go on with it’s agenda.

Why is Arminijad’s photo on this article? Has nothing to do with him — yet America has come to believe Arminijad is evil and a threat to America, so thus the propaganda.

Why don’t you move to Cuba, and post a comment like that undermining Cuba, or go to Iran and post a comment like that undermining Iran. You could move to Iran and then blog somewhere saying something about the sanctions against Iran, you could post, “Well doesn’t Iran have sanctions against Israel?” And then you will see the difference. And then after you get done serving 5 years in Iran’s prison maybe you will come back with a whole new perception on the U.S.

In order to cut down on all of the espionage which the Israelis are guilty of America should consider the same penalty.. No shame in being late to the game. Better safe than sorry.

While we are at it dual citizenships should be completely banned in America. Your either American or you not.. We need to be able to count on the loyalty of all of our citizens and as far I’m concerned if you have a dual Chinese or Israeli citizenship I become a little suspicious.

For days after you see him come home in the evening with a 5 gallon container of gasoline and put it in his garage. How long before it adds up? When someone tells you he is going to wipe you off the map, and there is irrefutable evidence that he preparing to carry out his threat, inaction or disbelief will not save you. When your so-called friends and neighbors tell you that you‘re overreacting and it’s all just bullshat, there comes a time when you have to do that which will save your house and family from burning. WHY IS ISREAL ALONE IN THIS? WHERE ARE THEIR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS? This situation will set the entire region on fire, and we are going to persue diplomatic solutions?? Playing devils advocate here…so be civil.

      1) Iran could have wiped Israel off of the map when Saddam was running Iran, in a joint venture. Now, the “new” Iraq would not play ball with them…so would have to be attacked first by Iran, or Iran would have to fall internally to another dictator who hates Israel as well.

      2) Iran is not going to launch nukes at Israel unless they are prepared to go to war with Iraq and Turkey as well as any country in danger of the fallout. That leaves smuggling a warhead into Israel and detonating it with no evidence that is was done by Iran. Since the fall of Russia, I think they could have got their hands on a nuke with all the oil money they have to spend, already.

      3) Iran has 10 times the population of Israel.

If we see anything, it will be either a tactical nuke smuggled into Israel with no clear trail back to Iran, or a covert coup sponsored by Iran, overthrowing the Iraqi government and installing another military dictatorship sympathetic to Iran’s goals against Israel…followed shortly afterward by Iran being given permission to transport their army across Iraqi soil and a conventional war played out.

Nuclear capability on Iran’s part will be to decrease any problems caused by any future western sanctions and as a threat to blackmail Israel into compromises with Palestine. Also, as a deterrent against any who would suggest military action against Iran in the event of the conventional war taking place.
