TEHRAN, Iran (The Blaze/AP) — Iran will not return the purported U.S. surveillance drone captured by its armed forces, and will instead use it as a model to create their own, officials said Sunday.
Gen. Hossein Salami, deputy head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, said in remarks broadcast on state television that the violation of Iran’s airspace by the U.S. drone was a “hostile act” and warned of a “bigger” response. He did not elaborate on what Tehran might do.
“No one returns the symbol of aggression to the party that sought secret and vital intelligence related to the national security of a country,” Salami said.
A senior Iranian parliamentary official told the country’s official Fars News Agency that Iran has the capability to “simulate” what Iranian military officials identified as the RQ-170 Sentinel drone.
“Relying on their scientific capabilities, the Armed Forces will be able to simulate the RQ-170 aircraft soon,” the vice chairman of the parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Hossein Ebrahimi, told Fars.
Iranian state media have said the unmanned spy aircraft was detected over the eastern town of Kashmar, some 140 miles from the border with Afghanistan. U.S. officials have acknowledged losing the drone.
Salami called its capture a victory for Iran and a defeat for the U.S. in a complicated intelligence and technological battle.
“Iran is among the few countries that possesses the most modern technology in the field of pilotless drones. The technology gap between Iran and the U.S. is not much,” he said.
Officers in the Guard, Iran’s most powerful military force, had previously claimed that the country’s armed forces brought down the surveillance aircraft with an electronic ambush, causing minimum damage to the drone.
American officials have said that U.S. intelligence assessments indicate that Iran neither shot the drone down, nor used electronic or cybertechnology to force it from the sky. They contend the drone malfunctioned. The officials had spoken anonymously in order to discuss the classified program.
But Salami refused to provide more details of Iran’s claim to have captured the CIA-operated aircraft.
“A party that wins in an intelligence battle doesn’t reveal its methods. We can’t elaborate on the methods we employed to intercept, control, discover and bring down the pilotless plane,” he said.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 11:17amMight be harder to duplicate then one would expect. I had the pleasure of seeing how the military handles control circuit boards. None of the chips or other components can have labels or part numbers. Basically, you have a board with a lot of little black squares. Can’t really Xray a microchip and get enough resolution as the chip circuit has a chunk of metal fused to the top. usually done on ceramic, and then cased in epoxy. Can be done, but is very hard and will take a lot of time.

The war (Iranian missile base outside of Tehran) and (uranium enrichment plant in Isfahan) has already begun. Iran will lose due to Israel, UK, and reluctantly (unfortunately due to this WEAK resident) the US. Time to open up Diego Garcia and let loose the steel rain from ghosts in the night. These drones are operated from faraway distances, so I don‘t want to hear that it can’t be done. What better way for the American people to be duped into thinking that it was “captured,“ when in reality it is a way of ”spreading the technology” to help bring down America. The drone has to communicate with a human pilot somewhere using some sort of radio signal. If you can intercept the signal and crack the code you can issue your own commands and, effectively, steal it in flight.
Why didn’t the self destruct the drone? If you’re no longer the captain in the cockpit you really have no say over where it goes or what it does.
And all of you in favor of bombing Iran to get the drone back – seriously? After how everyone on this forum reacted to Libya and the national discontent with the wars in the middle east, you want to start ANOTHER one?
Not an option. Let Iran have the drone, we got plenty more and, I’m sure, plenty more advanced technology already being built.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 9:12pmTo protect ourselves better we need to look at this situation in stark reality. Iran has the technology to reverse engineer anything, so long as they have possession of it. The tecnological data used in this drone has been effectively neutralized by Iran in so far as its value to the US is concerned now. China might not get a crack at it, but Russia will, because Iran will use it as a bargaining tool in order to get more upgraded Russian technology.
Right now Iran has Russian-made Sunburn anti-ship cruise missiles that streak along just above the water at about 2.5 mach speed and make so many violent end maneuvers it’s virtually impossible to defend against them. It is these missiles that could well put some of our best ships at the bottom of the Persian Gulf if Israel is foolish enough to attack Iran. A target ship has less than one second to react, which is vitually impossible.
Russia has also supplied Iran with their S-300 anti-missile/anti-aircraft defense systems which is capable of decimating the Israeli air force if an attack is made.
If attacked, Iran would also “seal” the Strait of Hormuz, shutting off oil supplies to Europe and Japan. The world economy would collapse immediately.
Israel is bluffing, as a last ditch effort to get Iran to stop its nuclear program, because they know the US is getting too weak economically to support them any longer.
I’m sorry to have to say that Israel cannot survive a war.

Yes, I agree, Venture. If more people would go to the professionals who are as much in the know as the CIA….and maybe even more so in some cases…….we would have quite an informed force here in this country. Too, it would put the Pentagon and Washington on notice that they can’t lead us blindly into a no-win situation or one that would unnecessarily send our working class people to fight their political wars, when they’re giving the Chinese national secrets and making us vulnerable.
“I hope the actors can prevent the 300s from being a bargaining chip.”
Unfortunately, guy, I think the 300′s are now in the hands of Iran, because Russia inadvertently admitted to the sale a while back.
” Has anybody ever heard of the faraday cage to protect against EMP. We in the Navy were so worried in the late 70s about the pulse that hardening military equipment was a priority. ”
The Faraday cage is our best hope right now. But Russia has been experimenting with EMP for 25 years now, as well as other Tesla discoveries and theories, and the US has barely begun.
What disturbs me is that while Russia and Iran are advancing rapidly technologically the US is consumed with social engineering.

Report: Iran To Practice Closing Strait Of Hormuz
Experts have forecast that a 30 day closure of the Strait of Hormuz would send oil prices skyrocketing to between $300-$500 dollars a barrel, a level that would trigger global economic instability and cost the U.S. nearly $75 billion in GDP.
Monday, December 12, 2011
The Iranian Army has refused to comment after a member of the country’s National Security Committee said today that Iran was to practice closing the Strait of Hormuz, the most important choke point for oil shipments in the world.
“The legislator, Parviz Sarvari, told the student news agency ISNA: “Soon we will hold a military manoeuvre on how to close the Strait of Hormuz. If the world wants to make the region insecure, we will make the world insecure,”

Not yet, but it’s on my agenda. I saw Abramoff on a couple of talk shows this week pushing the book, and the interview itself was pretty revealing.
I think the politicians in this country are so far gone we can’t change them, because the political climate doesn’t allow for it, but the more people know the better armed they will be when it all comes down. Eventually, we’ll have to rebuild. Maybe this time by minimal governing by politicians and the majority of issues being voted on by the people via referendum.

As far as fast attack subs or other surface ships… dont mean shite when Iranian warships are able to sail into Intl waters (gulf of Mexico) and launch 3 EMPs. Once the EMPs are launched, your ignorance just killed 200 million Americans. ARE YOU WILLING TO RISK 200 MILLION AMERICANS?
As far as your assertions to the sailor saying Iran isnt a threat, I first saw Iran as a threat with the fall of the Shaw in1979. The storming of the US Embassy in Iran. You Liberals are gutless whiny babies, that you can’t see what is in front of your very eyes. You’d turn and tuck your tail if they said Boo.
Grant you now is the time not to strike Iran; we first have to find out where the drone is kept. We just don’t want to arbitrary bomb a site and it not be there. We more likely will try to get people in to disarm it, if it is not already. Maybe with a little luck they will blow themselves up again.

Hey Mr smarty pants… You do realize that Iran has said it was sending two frigates, with medium range missle capabilities to the US. You do realize that if they enered into the Gulf of Mexico (Intl waters) they would be able to launch 3 EMP missles over the US. You do realize that they, Iran, have stated this as a military objective. You do realize that within on year of them doing such a thing, the US death count would be between 100 million and 200 million dead due to starvation.
You do realize the potency of modern science and warfare from even the smallest countries given the right weapons dont you??? Or are you just plain ol ignorarant, and willing to die for that right, to be ignorant???

Sonar planes helos and figthers patroling our waters, Satelites tracking they’re every move. Then there’s only a few who know where are subs are at any given moment, but I wouldn‘t be suprised if there wasn’t a fast attack sub tailing those WWII-style Iranian frigates everyone seems to be so concerned about. No country’s navy comes remotely close to the United States in terms of numbers and capabilites.

The two parties in power are a duopoly and no matter which way you vote (unless you vote for the Libertarian in the Republican ranks) all you are going to get is increasing foreign entanglement and larger gov’t bureaucracy. I agree, Obama and the Democrats have to go, but so do all of the career politicians who only want to be in Congress or any seat of power so that they can make laws upon laws to further obfuscate our daily lives and gain themselves a healthy paycheck through lobbying and hijacking of our political system.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 11:09amIf you really believe that the drone shown in the pictures is a real US drone then you are also stupid. There is no way that they could have safely landed a US spy drone. Also, their model doesn’t match our real drones, so you can easily tell it isn’t real. If we did lose a drone, it would have to have been shot down or it could have been downed by EMI/EMP. If either one of these things happened, then the drone crashed hard on the rocky ground and burned in its’ own fuel. There is little Iran can gain from this other than undermining Americans’ beliefs that our military is so advanced in weaponry that we are invincible. But that isn’t such a bad thing, because it obviously isn’t true.
We are technologically advanced beyond almost any other nation in the military department, but war has been waged for eons without attack or spy drones and satellite imaging.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 11:14amI think Iran jammed our signal and that is why we lost control of the drone; they may have used a secondary signal to land it. We don’t know if we managed to erase the data.
It would not put it past our President or someone in the Pentagon to supply Iran with the codes. After all he is a socialist. He is privy to the highest intelligence data and would not hesitate to authorize someone to pass along this info. We must get this man out of office as I feel he is betraying the United States.
Salami said, “A party that wins in an intelligence battle doesn’t reveal its methods. We can’t elaborate on the methods we employed to intercept, control, discover and bring down the pilotless plane,” he said.
