Iranian Actress Banned From Her Homeland After Nude Magazine Shoot

Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani — who luckily, for her own safety’s sake, lives in Paris — has ignited a firestorm after posing nude for Madame Le Figaro magazine. While the actress, who co-starred alongside Leonardo Di Caprio in “Body of Lies,” says the photo-shoot was a showcase of free speech, officials in her home country are outraged.

Indian news site ZeeNews.com reports:

[Farahani] appeared in the news magazine ‘Madame Le Figaro’ in protest against the ultra-conservative cultural policies, which she claims are restricting Iran’s film industry.

To up the ante on the controversy, Farahani posted what YNetNews.com called a “bare-chested photo” of herself on her Facebook page. The photo, while revealing, isn’t necessarily “nude” in nature (nor is it, in the official sense, “bare-chested”). The image appears to have come from the controversial magazine shoot. Another image from the magazine that wasn’t posted on her Facebook page does, indeed, seem to indicate a full-frontal exposure.

Iranian Actress Golshifteh Farahani Banned From Iran After Nude Photo Shoot

“With the little support she still had left, Farahani now betrayed her supporters too,” reported Irian’s semi-official Fars news agency. The outlet apparently went on to claim that she posed nude “to attract the attention of ad companies and film studios.”

The penalty for her actions for the magazine shoot and subsequent photo posting? On Tuesday, Farahani said she was informed by the Iranian culture ministry that she is no longer welcome in Iran.

“I was told by a Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guide official that Iran does not need any actors or artists,” she was quoted as saying. “You may offer your artistic services somewhere else.”

Actress Golshifteh Farahani's Facebook page

This isn‘t the first time that Farahani’s actions have clashed with Iranian culture norms. The 28-year-old actress moved to Paris, France, after being criticized back in 2008 for not wearing a veil at the Academy Awards.

The Daily Mail has more about Farahani’s success and its impact over her relationship with her homeland:

Farahani has had a mercurial relationship with her home country.

She began acting in theatre at the age of six and her first film, The Pear Tree (1998), earned the then 14-year-old the Best Actress award at Iran’s annual Fajr Film Festival.

She immediately became a leading actress in her home country, yet her performance in the 2007 film Santoori has never been seen in Iran and is still banned. [...]

Farahani‘s role as a nurse in Ridley Scott’s Body Of Lies (2008) – which also starred Hollywood big-hitters DiCaprion and Crowe – made her the first Iranian to act in a major Hollywood film.

The image on her Facebook page has drawn thousands of comments, both positive and negative in nature.

That‘s a joke I guess but the world’s changing everywhere. Don’t be smug. Not that many years ago an image like that would have scandalous in the United States. Now you can see stuff no different on prime time TV. I‘m not saying that’s good or bad, but that‘s the direction the world is going and there’s no stopping it.

As a photograph by itself, I’d say that nothing special. But as photograph of a woman defying her country and culture, I’d say that quite a statement.

Your name fits you, Jerk. Where do you get the idea that laws are made from ‘society as a whole’? Laws are made by the very few in charge of government for society to live by, frequently exempting themselves from those laws. The will of the people are ignored. Many laws in Islamic countries are not proper laws per se, but only what they want to do. The govenments also use criminals and Arabs to do their enforcement. The Iranian government brought in Arabs to brutally attack peaceful domonstrators. FYI, Iran is not an Arab country. The people are Persians.

and we shouldnt “mind our own business” because this same totalitarian religion, and its fervent followers, are on a crusade to KILL everyone who does not conform to their beliefs and their way of life. we should be watchful of everyone and everything in the world around us as a cautionary measure, and take action when someone threatens or attacks us. not sitting on our hands staring at the floor and hope everyone plays nice on the playground.

The Left hates Our Military and all conservatives.
Radical Islamists hate Our Military and sees conservatives as a threat to the spread of Islam.

AS LONG AS IT WEAKENS OR HURTS OUR MILITARY AND IT‘S SUPPORTERS THE LEFT WILL ’P‘ IN YOUR FACE AND TELL YOU IT’S RAINING NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO OR SAY.

Bagherzadeh was politically active, as she lobbied on behalf of Iranian women’s civil rights and was a vocal proponent of regime change in Iran. She was a founding member of Sabz Houston, a local Iranian organization and took part in numerous anti-Iranian government demonstrations over the years.

Her home country was mad because she didn’t wear a veil at the awards —-> that’s creepy and gross – they want all women to be under their thumb. She seems like a nice person, although, I wish she to stay away from America in Hollywood – all they would do here is exploit her, make her pose into nasty naked positions like in Hustler magazine, and then they’d pair her up with the trashy crowd such as Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsey Lohan – who all love showing their vaginas while exiting a limo/taxi. At least this gal has class, so please enjoy your career away from your homeland, and please stay away from American ——-> they love exploiting women here………… and you don’t deserve that.
