As the U.S. and Europe place sanctions on Iran for the nuclear program suspected of having a military aim, Iran continues to insist its work is for peaceful purposes only. That claim will likely suffer a setback by an interview published Tuesday in the semi-official Fars News Agency.

The wife of slain nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan tells Fars her husband wholeheartedly sought Israel’s destruction.

Roshan, a chemistry expert and a director of the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, was killed during morning rush hour in Tehran in January after a magnetic bomb was attached to his car.

No one has claimed responsibility for killing the nuclear scientist, but Iran has blamed the CIA, MI6 and Mossad for a string of assassinations targeting its nuclear scientists.

Wife of Assassinated Scientist: Annihilation of Israel “Mostafa’s Ultimate Goal”

TEHRAN (FNA)- The wife of Martyr Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan Behdast, who was assassinated by Mossad agents in Tehran in January, reiterated on Tuesday that her husband sought the annihilation of the Zionist regime wholeheartedly.

“Mostafa’s ultimate goal was the annihilation of Israel,” Fatemeh Bolouri Kashani told FNA on Tuesday.

Bolouri Kashani also underlined that her spouse loved any resistance figure in his life who was willing to fight the Zionist regime and supported the rights of the oppressed Palestinian nation.

This is not the first time Iranian officials have been quoted calling for Israel’s destruction. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that Israel “must be erased from the page of time” and that the solution to the Middle East conflict is the “elimination” of Israel.

The combination of these calls for annihilation along with the prospects of the Islamic Republic being one day armed with a doomsday weapon is at the core of the debate over whether Israel should attempt a military attack to thwart Iran’s nuclear progress.

Seeing as she’s out saying he wanted to destroy Israel, I think we can say that’s a no. I’m sorry but murdering civilians by the dozens, including children, is a level of evil far beyond assassinations. I’m guessing you would say we were wrong to kill so many Al Qaeda leaders even as they were trying to kill us. This scientist was trying to destroy Israel. Killing one man to stop a massacre (or at least postpone it) is more than justified. In fact, I believe such action is an obligation.

    I happened to hear General Dempsey’s remarks. Obummer has finally put a man in as Chairman of the Joint chiefs that he really wanted. Dempsey is a total waste. Polititcal Generals never should be in power but this is where the Military Leadership has taken us. If we are lucky enough to put a new man in the White House come November, his first duty should be to retire this guy and many more in thaat Pentagon. I could not believe how Allen was falling all over himself apologizing for burning a few Qurans. Take a look at what they do to christians.. Whaat a bunch of putz’s wse have running this military. I served 20 yeaars and another 26 in the Intel community and I can tell you right now this country is in deep doo doo. Time for a major change..

If you want to stop an evil dictator like the ones you mentioned you take them up with military action, capture them, and try them in a military court for crimes against humanity.       Here’s the problem with your approach: when you have a dictator like Hitler the only way to charge him with war crimes or whatever is to defeat his armies. So you’d have to kill thousands, or in the case of Hitler specifically, MILLIONS more than if you just assassinated him. What percentage of the world’s population died in WWII. People criticize the nuking of Japan but in the end lives were saved as a result. And unlike nukes, assassinations only target those who are guilty. Taking one life to save many seems fair to me.

      That’s a VERY dangerous argument to have. So if it’s ok to assassinate dictators, why is it not ok to just assassinate murders? Why put them through the costly trial, especially since there might be a not guilty verdict at the end when all the evidence is just screaming that they are guilty.

      Yes it is an awful thing that we would have to go to war with said dictator and thousands of lives will be lost in the battles. But those people who sign up for the military under said dictator know what they are getting into. The Nazi soldiers knew full well that they were putting their lives on the line for Hitler.

      That and again the argument of “two wrongs make a right” couldn’t be any more invalid. We assassinate Iranian citizens. Then what are we supposed to do when they start assassinating ours? We can’t feel outraged can we since we do the same thing right back to them or maybe even first.

      We are America. We claim we are exceptional right? That means we must do exceptional things. That includes not stooping to the level of assassination and other evil deeds that other countries do.

If something is done to destroy an entire people and country in “alla’s” name, it deserves to be stopped any way at all.     Now this is an interesting and frightening story, well the back story that is. If, Iran gets a nuke Iran WILL use it against Israel but, what in the hell will the USA do about it? Russia France and China are all for the Iranians as far as I can see just like in Iraq. Will the USA retaliate with a nuke too? If so, what will France, Russia and China do then? These are scarey times than the “Cold War” with the USSR!!!! I believe if we have the current cronies in office we the USA will do NOTHING but have Hillary scream and holler and the UN will applaud the Iranian’s actions!!! We are at the end of times as we know it and NO I have never worn an aluminuum hat :)

      No-there won’t be any war-the iranians can defend themselves today against an israeli strike. that’s why america is begging israel to not strike.israel is between a rock and a hard place-not iran.I’d love to see the fundamentalist iranian regime overthrown by the people but if israel strikes, iran is justified to retaliate.Israel can put an end to terrorism in a minute by going back to the legal 67borders as all arabs and iran would now accept. but these obstinant zionists insist on occupying the arab palestinians and holding on to illigally seised land[67war].that the whole world[the west anyway] supports such unjust beligerance shows the power of zionist domination of media.     take out the people who can build the nuclear warheads. soon, nobody will want to go into that business over there. a very good strategy. enemies adapt, but for now, it’s a good strategy. for the rest of their lives, these iranian nuclear scientists will be terrified of starting their cars.

      They all have very tight security now. Picking them off one by one won’t stop their program, it’s too far along. Might be able to slow it down a bit here and there and you’re right, the Israelis have done a masterful job of slowing things down but, slowing it down is not stopping it.

      The United States, which uses the war on terrorism as an excuse to trash our rights, is indifferent on Israel teaming up with Iranian TERRORISTS (if NBC reports are accurate) to assasinate Iranian scientists. I know Iran’s a giant pain in the rear, but I hardly consider this a “clean” hit. I suppose one can make the arguement that it was necessary to surrender principles for security, but that’s a lame argument, in my opinion.
