Iranian Woman Blinded, Disfigured by Acid Spares Attacker the Same Fate

TEHRAN, Iran (The Blaze/AP) — An Iranian woman who was blinded by a suitor who threw acid on her face has pardoned her attacker at the last minute, sparing him from being blinded by acid as retribution.

Iranian state television broadcast footage Sunday of Ameneh Bahrami in the operating room with her attacker, Majid Mohavedi, who was on his knees waiting for her to drop acid in his eyes as punishment.

Bahrami said she has forgiven Mohavedi and pardoned him. State TV showed Mohavedi weeping and saying Bahrami was “very generous.”

Mohavedi poured acid on Bahrami’s face in 2004 for rejecting his marriage proposal, disfiguring her face and leaving her blind in both eyes.

CNN reported:

“I was just yelling, ‘I’m burning! I’m burning! For God’s sake, somebody help me,’ ” she said.

The acid seeped into her eyes, and streamed down her face into her mouth. When she covered her face with her hands, streaks of acid ran down her fingers and onto her forearms.

Bahrami had demanded qisas, or “eye for an eye”-style justice, allowed under Shariah law. A 2008 Iranian court order agreed with her, ruling she would be allowed to pour the corrosive chemical in Mohavedi’s eyes as retribution.

She was quoted on Iranian television saying, “I never wanted to have revenge on him. I just wanted the sentence to be issued for retribution. But I would not have carried it out. I had no intention of taking his eyes from him.”

Bahrami told the Iranian Students’ News Agency that she also chose to forgive Mohavedi for her country, “since all other countries were looking to see what we would do.”

“God talks about qisas in the Koran but he also recommends pardon since pardon is greater than qisas and I wanted to do a greater job,” she said.

According to the BBC, Amnesty International had lobbied against the sentence, calling it “cruel and unusual punishment amounting to torture.”

Bahrami’s mother said she was proud of her daughter: “Ameneh had the strength to forgive Majid. This forgiveness will calm Ameneh and our family.”

Why do we support this continual campaign of propaganda against the Nation of Iran? Of course our ZOG is attempting to persuade the American people into supporting a strike against Iran. Now having acid poured into someone’s eyes is simply one of the most horrific things imaginable on earth; however, we have our own violence issues to deal with in America which by any imaginable means of measurement far exceeds any other Nation’s. For example why not focus on the 10s of thousands of accounts of violent interracial crimes perpetrated each year in America? Not only is it not a topic of discussion in the Media, the Media actually attempts to hide the problem and deceive our people on the matter.

I suggest we mind our own business and turn our attention to our very own real problems in our very own country.

At first I thought she was just a strong woman but in thinking about it, why did they have to televise it? It probably was the ultimate propaganda tool. A man can do this to a woman for just rejecting him, and the woman, to be a good person, forgives him. When will the msm get over their “tolerance” of Islam? Will they wait until we have “Sharia Law” zones in America? It is not so far away unless we rid DC of all the socialist in 2012. Socialists and Islamists use each other for their own purposes at the peril of the entire world. If and when America goes, there will be no free place on earth except Israel, and they are surrounded by those who hate them. May God help us all.

Indeed, I can understand the motivation she had behind all parts of this story; she wanted the decree of justice delivered unto him for his crimes against her, and then showed the spirit of mercy at the last minute to the one who so horribly wronged her.

I wonder how many people of any of the world faiths would have done as she did?

In my case, if this was the one who cost me my own eye as well as the other stuff he did in my youth I do not honestly know if I could have been as merciful; I would hope so, and pray so, yet the fact the doubt still remains is troubling…I do not know.

      @Sciencesinotevil

Didn’t you know, since the coming of Jesus you get to pick and choose which parts of the OT are most convenient for you!

In all fairness though, the reason is that the particular laws and prohibitions you speak of fall under the “old covenant” that GOD made with the Jewish people. A lot of it was a means of establishing the Jewish identity. Since the purported coming of Christ there was an institution of a new and final covenant (final I suppose only if you’re not a Mormon) with GOD and all people–not just the Jews. The new covenant supersedes the old one.

I believe it is somewhere in Mathew that Jesus even says that it is what comes out of your body (words and actions) that are unclean, not what goes in your body.

@scienceisevil-nice references,i dont understand your point however, are you defending “disobedient kids” who are described as if having no concern for anyone else but themselves, real anarchists who wont listen to anybody. Makes sense to me to rid society of those people, but thou shall not murder is also a commandment, and although you have cause to stone thats only if you have not broken the commandments which all have done. leviticus is talking about homsexuality and many other things that I’m sure you would not support (beastiality for one) chronicles emphasis those who do not seek the lord, whether you are put to death on earth or later in the afterlife is a matter of repentence, if you resist even seeking the lord which is also Jesus mind you, death will surely be your reward. the non-virgin part makes sense because a woman who does that is causing others to sin & gives them death. Another Religion part, he is refering to those who try to draw you away from the true and living God. You would do better to understand scripture does not contradict, most of the points you refer to ignore other parts of scripture that add, key word add, never takes away, always adds to the law and commandments. My passage to you if you even re-read this post but if others see maybe this would be good to hear. Matthew 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Gods word is True, and Good. Repent!!!!
