Irony: Union Pays Twitter to Trend Anti-Corporate Hashtag

As the Occupy movement springs back to life on “May Day” to bring the plight of the “99 percent” to the attention of, well, the “99 percent,” some labor unions are doing their part, even paying Twitter to trend an anti-corporate hashtag.

Irony Watch: Union Pays Top Dollar to Trend Anti Corporate Hashtag on TwitterIt’s true! Trending right now (worldwide!) is the hashtag “#CorporateGreed.” However, according to Twitter, the tag is “promoted.”

“Promoted” tags “can cost up to an estimated $120,000 per day,” according to the staff at Twitchy. So rather than being an organic trending term, it’s no more than a paid advertisement.

Irony Watch: Union Pays Top Dollar to Trend Anti Corporate Hashtag on TwitterSit back for a minute and soak in all the levels or irony: a union paid in excess off $100,000 for a hashtag decrying “corporate greed” and posted it to a network that can only be accessed via a computer, phone, iPad, and the like.

Of course, without missing a beat, the conservative Twittersphere unleashed an unforgiving barrage of snark:

Yes, a brave new world of info wars…… Propaganda no longer comes from a hand cranked printing press, but through the web. That’s why Conservatives, Libertarians, and other freedom loving people need to fight back with the same technology.

“about that. They don’t want a paycheck. I watched an interview with an OWS participant today. When asked what he wanted instead of Capitalism, he said “Communism, so we can get free food, free medical care, free housing and all that other free stuff provided by the community.” I guess that’s what these people want…something for nothing.Sadly, nothing comes from something.”
    Free food…. grey slop
free housing ………crackerboxes made of cmus with no heat or running water.
free stuff …….you have to stand in line for hours to get a minimum service (ask any army brat who grew up with “free medical care)
IF YOU DONT EARN IT YOU DON”T DESERVE IT and you get what you pay for

I get so tired of pointing this out. Anyone who wants to take a look at how socialized medicine works doesn’t need to go to Canada or Cuba. Go to the U.S. military. The healthcare sucks! For any problem you have: Motrin. Tons and tons of Motrin.

I am too old to appreciate Twitter. I’d rather talk in person or on the phone. It is interesting that social media is really a solitary endeavor.

I am pleased that the union is blowing their members dues. Maybe the members should wonder if there will be strike funds available if they strike.

Remember this is true propaganda at its core; give the apperance of massive support and no matter what the cost, go with those you want to have as the leadership in the new order to come; that way they can reward your efforts for helping them get to the victors table – assuming Obama allows them to stay alive if he wins in the end.

The unions Progressive/Marxist leadership is playing for the long game; total success and the rise of a new order of which they will be a major benefactor of.

I have no idea what it even means to “trend a corporate hashtag”. Only people with way too much time on their hands would even care.
