Is Anything Wrong With the Seal on New Oval Office Rug?

There has already been a good  bit of discussion over the new rug in the Oval Office at the White House. Most of it has focused on the quote attributed to Martin Luther King, Jr. that should have been attributed to Theodore Parker.

But today, Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey examines rumblings about the seal depicted on the new rug.

Is Anything Wrong With the Seal on New Oval Office Rug?

Apparently, some are saying the seal looks a little too much like the Vice Presidential seal. Well, Ed has done a very thorough job of seal analysis. And as much as you might be hoping that the White House screwed this up, too, Ed will explain why you might have to cut them some slack. Read his analysis here.

But don’t let that stop us from enjoying the negative critical reaction coming down on the renovation of the Oval Office. Especially the coffee table. Even CNN is paying attention:

Danglinbags, “God is good, but gold is better, so buy gold”?, So then, you say that the thing that “God” created is better than the creator? So, as far as your concerned you would rather have somthing tangible, that which you can hold on too with your hands, rather than God? The problem with your philosophy, God is going to burn up this present evil world and everything in it, along with ALL your tangible things !!
Have you been to Jesus, I think not, and I believe after reading your post, that you are still lost in your sins and headed for a devil’s Hell. However there is hope of deliverance for you, that found in the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross, in the grave, and in a risen Savior, all you need to do is trust in Him, ask Him to save you from you sin & Hell’s flames, call upon the Lord Jesus and he will not turn you away? I have ended purposfully with a question mark because its up to you to decide, you must make the choice for Christ, for the free gift of etermal life, from the Hand of God.

gold is good, but eternal life is better, and its free !!
Recieve Jesus and you will live, choose gold and you will still die, then what?

The President had the Oval Office redecorated while he was on vacation in Martha’s Vineyard. The services and goods were donated or paid for by a charity. While I appreciate the fact that the taxpayers didn’t have to pay for anything, I think the extravagance shows a total disconnect with what the average American who cannot afford a vacation and/or redecorating, and is faced with losing their job, or has already lost their job, and may/have lost their home. As with so many things in life it is a matter of timing and perception

I believe the left wing media arm CNN is trying to take our focus off of real issues. Apparently they are doing a good job at it. They got all of you guys focused on something stupid.

English lesson 101… The words “Their” and “There” are commonly misused. “Their” and “there” have different uses and meanings. They are also different parts of speech. “There” is and adverb and is used when you are referring to a place as opposed to here… as in, “we are going over there.“ ”Their,” on the other hand is a personal pronoun. Use it when you are referring to something belonging to a person. Such as in the sentence from above…. “they do not know how to do ”there“ research and quotes from people when they are not ”there” quotes…“ It is NOT ”there” as it is used. A common mistake. The correct word in both instances is “Their.” It would be nice if Americans would learn how to write THEIR own language.

    Wow Dingleberry,
How about some discretion with the dime that belongs to the American Tax payer. Let’s not go on “well deserved vacations” while we are reaching a record high for unemployment. While American’s scrape by to make ends meet. We get to see our government pushing through stimulus after stimulus putting more debt on our children, closer and closer to bankrupting America. We get to have healthcare shoved down our throats, let alone all the lies that went along with it. “You have to pass it to see what’s in it”. Lets take take the apology tour around the world Bad mouthing America. Let’s send Daisy Khan on a trip to the middle east to United Arab Emirates and deliver to the Emiratis her views about Muslim life in America. What was it that her and her husband said? Oh yea America is place rife with “hate of Muslims,” a place so Islamophobic that “it’s beyond Islamophobia,”. Good Idea, send them. on our dime. His trip will cost U.S. taxpayers $16,000. Hers will cost $12,000. Lets desecrate ground zero and along with it call the 72% of American‘s that don’t want it built there, ignorant, intolerant and racist. Icing on the cake. How about giving me a decent American President I can be proud to teach to my children.

Sorry, but it would be the current runners of the government in corporate pockets. Bailouts only happen to protect the corporate interests and union interests.

Let’s have some facts, and just because you spew FoxNews, Freedomworks, or Americans for Prosperity, doesn’t mean you have made your point. Still waiting on the facts to qualify your statement of any corporate connections to the Tea Parties, especially since they are small and separate organizations.

I’ll spew a few random Progressive corporations just to make you feel comfortable:

      Media Matters,
      Center for American Progress,
      SEIU,
Center for [Insert any noun here],
      Planned Parenthood,
      ACLU,
      NAACP,
      NOW,
      AUSCS,
      SPA,
      Democracy for America,
      MoveOn.org,
      Progressive Policy Institute,
Socialist Workers Party (Hitler would be proud),
      Media Fund,
      Progressive Majority,
      IPac,
      Southern Poverty Law Center,
      Media Alliance,
      Journal-list,
      Democracy Now!

My hand is cramping up… Oh … you were saying something about being in the pocket of special interests…

Funny how those in the Tea Party aren’t bussed in. They actually drive the cars that they bought with money they earned by having a job. They make their own signs and say what they feel instead of being handed a professionally made sign that says what others want it to say. Oh, they come of their own accord and nobody is paying them to be there like the left usually does in their “astro-turfing”.

I have here commenting on this of my own accord, and I’d just bet someone is paying you to troll here. Who is really in the corporate pocket?

      @nicholjm

I’m sorry, sweetie, but you’re the one with the contradictions. Fascists are not “ultra RIGHT wing” as we understand Left/Right in the United States. Rather, it’s a European view of Left/Right, where both Left & Right extremes result in a form of total government. But the American view of Left & Right are Total Government versus Anarchy. (On that scale, Hitler and the Tea Party would hardly share common ground on the Anarchistic Right.) It all goes back to the Left/Right terminology as used by our Founding Fathers, versus the Left/Right terminology developed during the French Revolution. Hence the difference.
Given that understanding, Fascists are not what we’d call “Right Wing”. Why? Let’s go over a little history of Fascism, shall we? Where does the word Fascism come from? Who first came up with it?

      Benito Mussolini.

Before developing the term ‘Fascism’, Mussolini belonged to the Socialist party of Italy. However, much like Hitler, Mussolini was a staunch nationalist. He objected to the globalist views of Marxist Communism and its slightly blander cousin, Socialism. He didn’t want to see his beloved Italy melted into a globalist regime.
You can say exactly the same about pre-Füher Hitler, if you replace Italy with Germany.
Therefore, unable to find a nationally-based form of socialism, Mussolini developed his own – Fascism. Even the root of the word itself is based in socialism – its root is in the Italian word ‘Fascio’, meaning ‘labor union’. You know, that whole ‘workers of the world unite’ thing, except in Mussolini’s case, it was ‘workers of Italy unite’. And that’s not my opinion; that‘s taken straight from Mussolini’s own writings, his very own description of his new Fascist party, and his own clearly described beliefs. I’d recommend going back to original sources for a better understanding; we have Mussolini’s own words, read them.
So you see, Fascism is nothing more than National Socialism, which sheds more light on why the Nazi party’s full name was that of the National Socialist German Workers Party. Sure, Mussolini & Hitler pretty much despised each other for a long time. But that’s not exactly surprising, since they were kind of direct competitors.
You might wanna get your facts straight before you start accusing others of speaking in contradictions. Otherwise is kinda makes you look silly.

If it had any less personality it would be dead. The decorator must have been retired for the IRS or something. The video mentioned the beig being calming, I consider it more of a stupifying color. I understand the need for a calming effect, but it veers into instiutional chic. Maybe the color is to help people who might be in need of medication. It’s non offencivness is in itself is offencive. @AlienGuns… You‘re awfully confident of Obama losing in ’12 without having a front runner for candidate step up yet. Please don’t say something silly like “anybody could beat him” because as the Dems proved in 2004 it is possible to lose a sure fire win. For example, if you guys opt for Palin/???? I think despite all the whooping and hollering you(you in general terms not you personally, you might idk) do now in support of her, come election day I think you’d find it is a very small minority of grossly confused and misguided people who think she is a viable candidate.

GnomeChomsky….. if he is a 2 term guy you will be standing with me and 300 million others in the unemployment line waiting for the corrupt bastages to throw us a bone or tell us which job they have chosen for us..or there will be a revolt, and if there isn’t a revolt, there won‘t be a country left worth fighting for so it won’t matter..we will all have to learn arabic and submit to sharia law….gosh won’t that be fun……and you will be right there with me wishing he was GONE!!

Hey is that you michelle???Oh yea can’t she is probably shopping somewhere to take her mind off the fact the 10,000s are being layed off and not able to eat.. But i guess it is nice to see that Some designer got work for about an hour( that is all the time it would take to come up with that redocerationig design).. Sad to see the office redocerated when over 8 million are unemployed, so when is obama going to donate his money to the poor. You know that redistribution he keeps wanting to happen, OH YEA he wants my 25,000 a year income to make it up for him..

Hey Dingles … it is known as ‘Attention to Detail.’ If they can screw up something so innocuous as getting a (or several) quote(s) outa context, what major thing(s) could they over look?

The President represents ‘all’ of us … and when he looks like a buffoon (or allows his staff to make these gross errors), guess what Dingles, you also, for all your correctness, look like a buffoon. We get judged by those we associate with, or who we elect to represent us.

Truth is not important to some people. It’s just that simple, apparently.

don’t knof if it is true, but read once when the nation is at peace the eagle faces the olive branches in the eagles talons, if the nation is at war, the eagles face is towards the arrows. Maybe it is just obamas way of saying we are no longer at war

TO YOU BILL ORELLY IS A COMMIE BECAUSE HE BELIEVES OBAMA WAS BORN IN HAWAII.

Hey Dangleberry, why is it that you liberals can never tell us what YOU think, but you are such experts at what WE think? How do you know what this guy believes?
Again, can a liberal ever post anything besides an insult? I never see a point made by a liberal, just insults. It’s like listening to Gibbs or Obama…no ideas or solutions, just insult Republicans, cheer, and walk away mesmerized by a ‘great’ speech.
And BTW, CNN is left wing, and Obama’s birthplace was questioned initially by Hillary in the primaries. You should have known by the smear tactic that it was leftist, c’mon.
