Is Delta Airlines Showing Signs Of ‘Creeping Sharia’ Law & Should Jewish Passengers Be Concerned?

Imagine the protests in the streets if Delta Airlines were to tell Muslims that they could not fly somewhere because the local customs would not permit them to enter that country?  And just how quickly would Rev. Al Sharpton be able to gather thousands to march against Delta Airlines if they would not allow black people onto their planes because the country where they were flying would not permit people of color to enter?

Those situations are impossible to conceive because they could never happen, right?

But Delta Airlines is facing a similar moral dilemma as they get are about to complete an alliance with Saudi Arabia. The Delta-Saudi deal means adding Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) to Delta’s SkyTeam Alliance. For the first time, this would allow Delta passengers to fly direct into Saudi Arabia, as long as passengers are not Jewish, do not have a passport from Israel or a passport that is stamped from Israel.

Is Delta Airlines Showing Signs Of ‘Creeping Sharia’ Law & Should Jewish Passengers Be Concerned?

This issue was addressed back in April when attorney Jeffrey Lovitky sent the following letter to Delta;

Is Delta Airlines Showing Signs Of ‘Creeping Sharia’ Law & Should Jewish Passengers Be Concerned? Is Delta Airlines Showing Signs Of ‘Creeping Sharia’ Law & Should Jewish Passengers Be Concerned?

Two weeks later, Mr. Lovitky received a response from Delta, and not from CEO Richard Anderson. Lovitky‘s letter was referred to ’Customer Care.’

Is Delta Airlines Showing Signs Of ‘Creeping Sharia’ Law & Should Jewish Passengers Be Concerned?

The answer was quite clear. Delta did not see Saudi Arabia’s discrimination against Jews to be their problem. And yet, Mr. Lovitky presisted with his questions until he received this letter;

Is Delta Airlines Showing Signs Of ‘Creeping Sharia’ Law & Should Jewish Passengers Be Concerned?

As far as Delta was concerned this was a dead issue. Dead until it was brought to the attention of former Congressman, Fred Grandy. Mr. Grandy was visiting some old friends on Capitol Hill earlier this week when these letters were handed to him. Fred and his wife are regular guests on the Jeff Katz morning show on Talk 1200 in Boston, and this past Wednesday they discussed the potential problems that might stem from Delta’s business alliance with Saudi Arabian Airlines.

You can hear the entire segment with Fred and his wife (known to radio listeners as ‘Mrs. Fred) here.

In a telephone interview with The Blaze today, Mr. Grandy explained his concerns for what he and his wife called ‘Creeping Sharia Law.’ He also explained that he saw no difference between the restrictions imposed by the Saudi government on Jews and women and those limitations imposed by the apartheid rules of the South African government. During Grandy’s time in the House of Representatives, America would not permit airlines from South Africa to land in our country as long as that country had laws discriminating against people of color.

The story seemed to be gaining traction in the blogosphere today and not long ago, Delta Airlines Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, Trebor Banstetter posted the following on a company blog site;

We’ve gotten questions today from you, our concerned customers, following an article about Saudi Arabian Airlines joining SkyTeam (the global airline alliance that includes Delta as a member). After listening to many of your thoughts today, we’d like to take this opportunity to share some information and help to clarify some of the questions we know you have.

First and foremost, I think one of the most important things to mention here is that Delta does not discriminate nor do we condone discrimination against anyone in regards to age, race, nationality, religion, or gender.

That said, some have raised questions about whether Saudi Arabian Airlines’ membership in SkyTeam means Delta is adopting any type of policies that could present barriers to travel for some passengers, including Jewish customers. For this particular concern, it‘s important to realize that visa requirements to enter any country are dictated by that nation’s government, not the airlines, and they apply to anyone entering the country regardless of whether it’s by plane, bus or train.

We, like all international airlines, are required to comply with all applicable laws governing entry into every country we serve. You as passengers are responsible for obtaining the necessary travel documents, such as visas and certification of required vaccinations, and we’re responsible for making sure that you have the proper documentation before you board.

As it was stated in the very first letter sent from attorney Lovitky to the airline, Delta entered into this relationship with Saudi Arabia and SAA of its own free will. Nobody has forced the company to do business with a country that would restrict entry or movement within that country based on religion or gender. This is all Delta’s choice.

Lovitky has taken his case higher up the food chain and is petitioning Delta’s Board of Directors. The following note was sent to Roger Slater, a Delta board member and an attorney at the DC firm of Patton Boggs;

Is Delta Airlines Showing Signs Of ‘Creeping Sharia’ Law & Should Jewish Passengers Be Concerned?

Is Delta Airlines Showing Signs Of ‘Creeping Sharia’ Law & Should Jewish Passengers Be Concerned?

The Blaze will have updates to this story as they are made available.

Clearly another Prelude to the Holocaust. History repeats itself. This is obvious. We the People should unite and assist businesses to remain ethical. We must demand it. I fly Delta. I will boycott Delta if they do this. I just want them to know why they would be losing a loyal customer. I demand that they not do this. Religious discrimination? Then doing business with that entity is out of the question. It’s EASY. Stay ethical. The rest will take care of itself.

      @Bill_

You’re missing the point – specific laws aren’t the issue. Delta’s accepting a Saudi carrier into its group is and given that Saudi Arabia has laws, which clearly discriminate, Delta should not enter into such relationships with them, and if they do and violate U.S. laws in the process, they should face the consequences – beginning with an immediate grounding of all Delta aircraft operating in U.S. controlled air space. Further, no aircraft from any country with similar policies should be allowed in air space controlled by the U.S.

It is high time we drew clear lines and set clear policies opposite what we will and will not allow. A repeat of the Holocaust will not be allowed to happen. Period. End. Of. Story. Every nation must be put on notice: mess with us, or our allies and you will suffer the consequences. Saudi’s should be made to drink their oil. Drill here. Drill now. Drill all over. Develop cleaner coal. Develop more nuclear power. Tell the enviro-nut-jobs to take their lizards and minows and whatever else they put above human beings, and pound sand, or pee up a rope. We have had it with dolts that threaten liberty.

While I generally agree that we are heading down the “slippery slope” Delta’s job is simply “to get you there”. SOME of this must be tolerated if anyone is to see the need for change. Isolation of the Arab states simply leaves them in their own limitations which they are quite happy with. If the Arabs go further……then you withdraw the advantages that the agreement brings. It doesn’t need to be more complicated than that…… does it?

And all this because the Muslim hates the Jew. For what? Because the Jews were given the land of Israel legally and defend it strongly when attacked? Israel is the only sane and peaceful state in the area surrounding it. They are not hate mongers and yet are surrounded by those who openly want them dead and driven into the sea. Pretty sad state of affairs, IMO. We need to stand with Israel and support her right to defend her borders have a home.

I’m normally a Blaze fan, but with all due respect to the editors of the Blaze, this is total CRAP. I recently had to fly to Lebanon on business and I have colleagues that travel to the Middle East on a regular basis. This whole Delta issue if nonsense and hurts your credibility.

Most Arab countries with the exception of Jordan and Egypt DONT EVEN RECOGNIZE ISRAEL AS A COUNTRY…is that Delta Airlines fault????

So if you have an Israeli stamp on your passport you don’t get in. It’s not Delta Airlines fault; Delta is just looking to do business. What you DO have to pay attention to when you fly overseas is WHAT THE RULES ARE. The US State Dept, will help you get a visa if you have an Israeli stamp on on your passport if you need to visit an Arab county, no worries.

Fly Delta if you must, but Air France is a much better airline to get to the Middle East. To the Blaze editors, if you want to be credible….do a better job checking facts, please.

Why does Delta need to enter any arraingment with the Saudi’s?…Maybe they’re hoping to be able to keep their other routes to all the “Arab Spring” countries when they become the Caliphate States, ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood. I’m sure Delta is only concerned for the safety of any Jew that may be dragged off a stop-over for a connecting flight and shot in the head by the mullahs. After all, in a few more years, why would a Jew be flying in that part of the world?.. .by then Israel will be burnt to the ground and all her citizens killed or scattered by the Religion of “peace”.

Delta has decided to sleep with dogs and they WILL get fleas.

@rightpolitically – I guess you won’t be flying – other airlines have flaws too – airlines give discounts to gay groups for their conventions/parties, to athiest groups for their gatherings, to pro-abortion and to pro-life groups for their conventions/gatherings. Hotels do the same for similar groups.
      Are you boycotting them too?
What about a clothing company that donates only to the opposite political party?
      How about automobile manufacturers?
      Food growers?

Leave the boycotting to the socialist democrat people.
      They act out of HATE.
Conservatives need to consistently take the high road, speak their minds, vote accordingly, and do so out of love, not out of hate.
Now, if you start a conservative air line that includes conservative values and ethics in all its business practices, I will give you my business, rather than one that does not.
Until then, I, for one, do not plan on boycotting anyone.
I would go insane trying to keep up with corporate ethics and donations.
There are much bigger issues that need addressing.

Delta has plenty of Jews in its employee, and I am certain they could care less what your ethnic background or religion is, so long as you are a good worker! It’s called “BUSINESS.”

How about United’s codeshare with IRAN & QATAR & TURKEY & ETHIOPIA & CROATIA?

When good people need to go to those countries for good purposes, how are they supposed to get there?

Just realize that this is exactly the type of discimination that has and will be brought upon the American people by Islam. It will start with the persecution of the Jews. Many will not care, because it doesn’t affect them. Then it will move on to women and that will get the attention of many many more Americans, but the damage will have been done.
I’m literally disgusted with most of my fellow Americans. I fear that we as a nation have already comprimised ourselves so far that we are viewed as weak and not united. And this will lead us to World War within the next 10 years. It will be a replay of the death and destruction during which 100′s of millions will die.

My local AM station (1140 WRVA in Richmond, VA) had this guy on this afternoon with Doc Thompson (who has filled in for Glenn on occasion) and he used to have a radio show in MD that included some segments where his wife would discuss current events and facts regarding the muslim movement worldwide. The radio station canned his wife for daring to discuss these looming issues and being the man he is, he walked out on them. Maryland is riddled with the disease known as Progressivism.

If you enter into a business arrangement with a country that will not give visa to a Jewish person because the person is Jewish, then you are being as discriminatory as that country. The migratory policies of that country are not your responsability but you are not forced to be in business with them. If you are, then you are endorsing or applying their policies indirectly and therefore you are as guilty as them.

For them to have the Delta name associated with blatantly racist policies for any reason excludes me from flying Delta ever again. I have flown on dozens of Delta flights, but will never fly again with them regardless of whether they continue this horrible policy and association with racist nations or not. The fact that they will choose to do business with evil is enough for me to put them on my “dont fly” list permanently. If the same people who run Delta today had been in charge during WW2, the Nazis would’ve had landing strips in the concentration camps instead of railroad tracks.

EX- By acknowledging that they are fully aware of the restrictions in Saudi Arabia, a bigger problem arises. Here in the U.S., they cannot discriminate in their sales to or boarding of these potential passengers. So what then? What it comes down to is a nightmare all the way around. They shouldn’t enter into the agreement if they want to maintain their status as an airline. As a nation, we have to quit ignoring or condoning the agenda of Islamofascists who clearly state their goal to wipe Israel and the people of Israel off the map. It‘s no longer a viable excuse to say it isn’t our problem. If they had to deny anyone else of another religion or race based on this country’s policies—-they would be taken down financially in overwhelming lawsuits immediately. And this isn’t fictional discrimination or perceived discrimination—-it’s actual and openy hostile.

Are Delta Airlines executives just plain STUPID or completly blind to reality. Apparently they can’t admit that a business partnership with a company that discriminates against certain religions (Jewish) and the female gender a;lso makes them guilty of discrimination. Shouldn’t this be a matter of investigation for the FFA or whatever US Government Agency responsible for establishing and enforcing rules and regulations for all USA arilines.

If I entered into a willing partnership with a fast food franchise that discriminates against race or sexual gender or preference, wouldn’t that make me guilty of the same discriminational practice ? Of course it would. I wonder why no civil rights organizations have come forward to fight or at least protest against this merger of Delta Airlines with the Saudi Arabian Airlines ? Is it acceptable for Muslims to discriminate against Jews but, not acceptable for Jews to discrimuinate against Muslins in the USA ?

It‘s up to ALL Americans to boycott Delta Airlines because of it’s complicity with the discriminational policy of a business partnership with a fpublic services firm that practices religious and sexual gender discrimination. I have flown with Delta Airlines for the past 50 years but will no longer do so until this shameful practice is discontinued and an apology offered to all that have been discriminated against. Have to agree with exrepublisheep –

If we do not like these laws – which we don’t – we must address them with saudi arabia – NOT by attacking Delta Air Lines. Delta did not write the law.

I would suggest we have a president with an energy policy – a STRONG energy policy – one that make us INEPENDENT of saudi arabia – then we can tell them the opec countries to go to hell.

We do not allow price fixing in the United States. We do not allow monopolies. We are capitalists. And yet, we buy our energy from a monopoly every day of the week, rather than exploit our own.

The HATERS need to listen to the scientists! The earth is a ‘closed-system’ – even if you believe the debunked so-called ‘scientists’ who created global warming – you would have to admit it does the same damage to this closed-system (earth) whether the oil comes from OUR supply or THEIR supply.

We need laws that require congress and our Agencies – to be NO MORE STRINGENT on U.S. based companies than foreign governments are on foreign suppliers of similar goods or services.

I say, lay off of Delta.
As momma always said, “You lay with dogs, you’re gonna get fleas”
Delta has chosen their canine companions. THEY’LL GET their fleas.
We are lying with the saudi dogs too, to buy our oil.

Agreed! All Delta and the other alliance members are doing is filling in a blank spot on their world map. It is not up to them to make a political statement about each and every country they collectively serve. As the marketplace, it is up to us to decide whether we should visit a place like that or not. If none of us do, then the partnership will eventually be disbanded.

Many countries have distasteful or discriminatory laws and/or customs. This doesn’t mean that we should ban airlines from flying there. Again, that’s a decision for the marketplace to make. Bear in mind that I am a major “hawk” when it comes to dealing with issues associated with the so-called “religion of peace”. But for those who need to get to Saudi (such as petroleum industry types), Delta is simply providing an slightly easier option to get them there. Nothing anti-Semitic about that and I think the Blaze is off base for implying such.

If I were the decision maker at Delta, I would have reacted differently.
      It smacks of guilt-by-association.
      It sounds like approval.
James 4:17 “to him who knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin”
Delta SHOULD have taken the high road.
However, I still contend that WE should be bringing the full weight of our buying power to bear upon the saudis.

DRILL BABY DRILL will have much more effect than Delta pulling out of an alliance.
If Delta pulls out, another Air Line WILL sign with the saudis.
It fixes DELTA’s problem, but it does nothing to address the real discrimination –
discrimination by the saudis (arabs) against all Jews.

ENERGY INDEPENDENCE is the answer, not a boycott of an air line trying to survive.

Now I bet the Nation would know about it if a President would have done such a radical thing as appointing a few White Protestants? Wonder why that it is yet no one knows about all of the Jewish appointees of Bill and Obama?

Passengers can also decide whether they want to utilize a discrimatory airline. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to me for passengers to shun Delta until they come to their senses and refuse this discriminatory alliance. Shun them or run them out of business. It matters not to me. I will not be flying Delta until this issue is resolved.

The US Jews always vote Democrat and contribute $millions in cash to Democrats and this is what they get. Would a GOPer in the Oval Office have allowed this to happen. My Jew friends, this is just the beginning, soon gas stations will refuse to sell Jews gasoline. The Jews love Socialism like in 1930s Germany and Russia. They support Socialism and when Socialism gets a foot hold, the Anti Semitism starts.

@ those of you who ask why would a Jew want to go to Saudi Arabia? – I can understand your question… but what about the non-Jews who happened to have visited Israel at one time?

So if Obama or Hillary ever visited Israel, does Saudi Policy forbid them from ever setting foot in Saudi Arabia?

What would Ayn Rand do? My take on that is to let Saudi Arabia suffer the natural consequences of their decisions. As so many here have stated, they will not fly Delta again while Delta acts as a tool of Saudi policy. That is a natural consequence. The State Departement could also say that as a result of our non-discrimination policies, the US will not permit Saudi citizens entry into the USA. That would be an appropriate natural consequence; but it will never happen under Obama who couldn’t grovel low enough before the Saudi king for his own satisfaction, and is thrilled to force tax-paying Americans to grovel before his ideas of social justice.

But what you seem to miss is that Delta agreed to discriminate for money. Delta is not required to partner with saudi Airlines but they freely chose to do so. What would you say if Delta freely chose to partner with an airline in Africa and would refuse blacks on their airlines?

@JJ – I’m not saying boycott ONLY saudi oil
I’m saying UTILIZE OUR OWN NATURAL RESOURCES.
      DRILL HERE!
Who would you trust the most to protect the environment while drilling? An U.S. oil company, or a foreign oil company – both have the same potential to affect the environment. At least here we watch them and regulate them – instead of drilling here where we can watch over them, we chase all the business out of our country – to countries that have policies like hating Jews, etc.
So, I’m suggesting that if people want to boycott somebody, they boycott saudi oil by demanding our representatives and elected officials enable full exploitation of our domestic natural resources – that is what I mean by boycott saudi oil.
Or, you are welcome to take me literal and try to separate identical molecules of hydrocarbons for yourself.

BOYCOTT SAUDI OIL – Demand FULL domestic oil production NOW!

It’s the Golden Rule: The guy with the gold gets to make the rule. The worthless paper money we give to the Saudis in exchange for the oil we need to fly those planes is owned by those same Jews. They‘ll take the Jew’s worthless money, and give us their real oil, but they won’t take the Jew who owns the company that owns the paper money, even though he is their number one customer. Talk about a convoluted relationship! So, at least the Jews get the benefit of the money from the goyem who are travelling to Saudi Arabia, even if they themselves must take a different carrier. And they get to buy oil from the dirty Saudis with nothing but credits and cotton-fiber paper. They both can eat my sh*t.

If they have no control of the Saudi laws then they should not join in an alliance with them. Letting a country dictate how a company does business is the same as that of a dictator. I think we should do this the right way and prohibit all Muslims from flying on an airlines that enters the US. How would you feel about that one.

If JEWS want to go to SAUDI ARABIA, (like, uh, WHY?) they can take another plane. Are you aware if Delta is the ONLY company under this mandate by a soverign nation? What are you going to say if Ron‘s Tugboat Service can’t push oil tankers into Saudi Ports if they have Jewish deck hands? Boycott any ship‘s cargo pushed by Ron’s Tugboat Service?

Does that make you feel like a bigger person by disassociating yourself with the likes of me? No wonder the country is in as much trouble as it is.

For the record the article was about Jewish discrimination but since I believe Jewish discrimination to be miniscule and not worthy of news coverage, I asked about the concern for discrimination against Whites which is far more blatant and obvious.

Furthermore for your stupid comment I want to make a further illustration. I believe that I may have seen a dog by your photo implying that you are animal lover. Did you know that Adolf Hitler’s administration was the very first Western nation to pass strict animal cruelty laws? Mostly out of the resentment for Jewish treatment of animals; however, he was a fanatical dog lover himself and he even believed in the cause of animals to such a degree he abstained from meats? You and Adolf are like two peas in a pod agreeing to love animals… How do you like those apples paperpushermj??

@ Tashkent: NO. We should MAKE SOMETHING to transport us with the practicality and function of the auto that doesn’t require gas or oil. We should MAKE SOMETHING that warms and powers our homes that doesn’t require gas or oil, etc., etc., etc., and boycott Saudi Arabia until THEY are out of business. Don’t you people get it? DELTA isn’t in the wrong here. THEY aren’t restricting Jews to fly. Saudi Arabia is restricting Jews to enter. Delta will fly any Jew anywhere. But when they LAND in Saudia Arabia, their Jewish passenger isn’t welcome. Why should YOU then go after Delta and NOT Saudi Arabia? You don’t have enough courage to live your life without Saudi Arabia, but you do have the pisant courage to live your life without Delta. Look, I’m not just picking on you. I wish that we could ALL organize a petroleum boycott for 7 days. But…we can‘t and we won’t. Because we are addicts.
