Is Media Matters Now Making Up Facts in War Against Beck?

Media Matters makes no secret of their main mission and tactics –“guerrilla warfare and sabotage” deployed to bring down Fox News in general and Glenn Beck in particular.
But just because your mission is clear, doesn’t mean that you are very good at waging the war.
Today Media Matters posted a story by anti-Beck activist Angelo Carusone. The story asserts that Glenn is losing radio station affiliates right and left. It specifically states that the Beck affiliate list is now short of the “400 station milestone.”
The author issues a new demand:
Well, it’s time for Glenn Beck to update his website and marketing materials.
According to industry data obtained by Media Matters, Glenn Beck’s radio program is now short of its heralded “over 400” affiliate status. Asked to comment, Radio Business Reporter’s Carl Marucci echoed this finding, stating, “our best gauge right now is also shy of 400.”
Media Matters already employs over 80 people in their crusade. But this does not always guarantee accuracy.
Business Insider’s Glynnis MacNicol reports:
According to spokesperson at Premiere Networks, which syndicates The Glenn Beck Program, the show can be heard on more than 430 affiliates.
We took a look at the list of stations that do carry Beck it confirms this number.
Apparently, Media Matters forgot to add to their count the 88 stations that have acquired Beck in the past year.
Carusone, who is the new director of Media Matter’s “DropFox” campaign, was pretty proud of his reporting today:
I guess if you are 0-for-1, you might want to wait on the frame.

On June 14, 2010, Premiere Radio Networks announced that Glenn Beck’s radio program “hit a broadcasting milestone of 400 affiliates.” Since then, Glenn Beck’s website boasts that his show is “heard on over 400 stations:”
Well, it’s time for Glenn Beck to update his website and marketing materials.
According to industry data obtained by Media Matters, Glenn Beck’s radio program is now short of its heralded “over 400” affiliate status. Asked to comment, Radio Business Reporter’s Carl Marucci echoed this finding, stating, “our best gauge right now is also shy of 400.” Premiere Radio Networks did not respond to requests for comment.
This should come as no surprise. Since the beginning of 2011, seven radio stations have dropped Glenn Beck’s show.
Buckley radio dropped Beck from five of its stations – WOR in New York City and four in Connecticut. Philadelphia‘s WPHT and Madison’s WTDY also replaced Beck. Kansas City’s KMBZ moved Glenn Beck from his coveted morning slot to a significantly less desirable late-evening slot.
Further, due to Jewish Funds for Justice’s terrific work, five New York City radio stations have already committed to keeping Glenn Beck off the air there.
Forbes contributor Rick Ungar explains the financial significance of Beck losing radio affiliates – especially a NYC station:
While the radio show can survive the loss of the smaller markets in the Buckley group, no radio program can long survive the loss of New York as being shut-out of the nation’s largest market makes selling national advertising exceptionally difficult if not completely impossible.
This is particularly true when you add in the loss of affiliates in major markets such as Philadelphia and the show’s getting the boot out of the key morning drive slot in Kansas City.
Although much attention has been given to the dramatic decline of Glenn Beck’s sponsor-dry Fox News show, this significant drop in radio support reminds us that Beck‘s decline isn’t limited to just television.
The verdict: Glenn Beck is bad for business, whether it be television or radio.

Make fun of a disease if you like. Glenn Beck doesn’t care. If he did, he would have hidden the fact that he’s an alcoholic. He is open and honest about it.
I, too, am a recovering alcoholic. At our AA meetings, we sometimes refer to ourselves as a bunch of drunks. That’s what we could be if we went back out and drank again. I have 31 years of sobriety.
When I was drinking, I used to wish I could be like “normal” people. Well, after I got into AA, it suddenly occurred to me that the people I had wished so much to be like were actually nut jobs. The people in AA make better sense, make better decisions, and are more genuine than MOST of those who do drink. I have frioends who drink, and I value their friendship because they are the rare ones who are like the ones who think like a member of AA. And, we in AA are “insane!”
So, I doubt seriously whether GB gives a toot whether you ridicule him or not.

If the story is true, does Glenn Beck lose any credibility? No, not really. Let’s see why.
Glenn Beck said that he is ready to lose it all to search for the truth. He is willing to sit underneath a tree to talk from a soap box if he needs to do it. He is no longer going for the ratings and I believe him.
All you guys/gals who post here regularly should not forget that this area of The Blaze is Americas De Facto Op-Ed page on steroids.
This area gives Americans a chance to read what other Americans are thinking. This “Op-Ed” area is not like that of the New York Times or any establishment paper.
Mr. Soros fears this area and would love nothing more than to make this area look like Americans are not in support of Glenn Beck.
Mr. Soros is trying to influence how this area is perceived. To that end, he plants people who will write offensive comments about Mr. Beck or anyone who posts honest opinions and facts.
Mr. Soros’ minions will either write something stupid or they will claim that those who post here are stupid:
