Is Palin Definitely Out of the 2012 Race?

With the early success of like-minded Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, and the new and formidable challenger in Texas Governor Rick Perry, is there still a place for Sarah Palin in the 2012 Republican presidential primary? Based off her statements at the Iowa State Fair yesterday some conservative commentators believe Sarah Palin is not going to run for President in 2012.

“It’s fair to them to give them an answer here, in short order, so that they can jump on  board with someone else.”

A candidate needing time to consider if he or she will still be able to meet the needs of their family prior to jumping into the strenuous 24/7 engagement of a presidential campaign, is generally accepted as a fair reason to hold off throwing your hat in the ring. However, Palin probably knows better than any other 2012 GOP hopeful the effects that a presidential campaign will have on the family considering she has already been on a major party ticket in the general election.

In this short video from David Brody of CBN News, Palin indicates that she is likely to make an announcement on whether or not she will run in September or October. As the GOP primary race appears to already be in full gear with candidates like Bachmann and Romney surging to the head of the pack, some may ask what does Palin still have to consider from now to the fall that she has not already thought about over the last two and a half years?

Dan Spencer of RedState speculates that Palin’s rhetoric in Iowa this weekend signals her stepping away from the list of GOP candidates in 2012:

“With those words, former Gov. Sarah Palin made it clear to me that she will not run for president in 2012.

You don’t tell your supporters ‘they can jump on board with someone else’ if you are going to run. It’s as simple as that. One could, and no doubt many will, say Palin was just inarticulate. I don’t buy that.”

What do you think? Is Palin standing idly by only in wait for the perfect strategic entrance to surge ahead of the other Republican presidential candidates? Could she honestly still be in the ‘decision-making phase’? Do you want her to jump in but think she will hold off this election? Or with the success of Michele Bachmann and highly anticipated entrance of Rick Perry do you question if there is still a space for Palin in 2012?

She is very effective as a speaker (some don’t like her voice..tough) and is a great fund raiser…and she’s still pretty young, relatively speaking….I get the feeling that she’ll stay on the sidelines while Bachmann or Perry takes the lead….But I wouldn’t be surprised if we see her on the warpath again in 2020!

I like Sarah a lot. Instead of voting for McCain in ‘08, I voted for Sarah. I went to see her three times- McCain once, and she was outstanding. McCain sucked. She reinstilled in me a new faith in our country. But I think if she ran for president the Liberal Marxist media would do all they could to destroy her. Soros would spend nearly his entire fortune to defeat her. The Stimulus money would be turned into massive campaign contributions to OBAMMY in an effort to wipe her off the map. However, the thought of her taking the oath of office with that sniveling little man child weasel in the background, knashing his teeth, is almost too good a thought to be true. If Sarah were nominated, I would work for her 24/7/365 to see her elected!

You hit on it there, ILConservative. Sarah is an extremely smart person and she might be waiting to let the leftists launch their attacks on everybody they think might be the candidate. That would make it clear to the world what they’re about when they switch their vitriol toward her. The left is not very creative and they would for the most part, be using the same slurs that they had already used on previous candidates.

      Vetted?
      Not understanding….

You do realise that ANYONE who is a Natural American Citizen above the age of 35 can become President?
      Even YOU!

“The person must be 35 years of age or older, a natural born citizen of the United States and must have been a permanent resident of the United States of America for at least 14 years. Additionally, a candidate must not have served more than one previous term as president, not have been impeached by the Senate, and not have participated in a rebellion against the United States.”

You also have to pay some group $50,000 to become ‘registered to run’

Its just that its always been the Govenors and Politicians who have run (who can afford to waste 50k?), so people have come into the mentality that THEY cant run for President

Sarah will announce that she is not running, and she should have done it long before now. It is totally unfair to everyone else in the race to keep people hanging on this way. I have come to see Sarah Palin as mostly intentionally riding a wave of publicity that benefits her. To the degree that it benefits the Tea Party, I am happy about it. But now it is interfering with others who have had the courage to throw their hat in the ring, and it bespeaks a lack of judgment that I think people had better pay attention to. Even with Rick Perry announcing this past weekend — which is a wonderful thing — people knew he intended to run. But with Palin she is supposedly keeping it a secret, and it just isn’t right for her to do that.

I hope she doesn’t throw her hat in the ring. She won’t be elected. People either love her or hate her and the vote cannot be split like that. If she runs you will probably see someone else running as a independent who thinks they can siphon off votes just to get even with the republicans for not endorsing their candidacy. There are people who will do that.. Lisa Murkowski comes to mind.

Because our candidate will be running against someone WHO HAS NOTHING, I mean NOTHING to offer America, and THEY KNOW IT!!!

Some of Barak Obama’s campaign staff have been quoted as saying their stradegy is “Kill Mitt”!!!

That is because we have SEEN WHAT HE IS OFFERING to America, and “We aren’t eating the dog food”!!!!

If she announced, she would be pushing through the headwinds while Romney and Bachmann drafted comfortably in the background. Jake Tapper of ABC, as well as reporters from CNN, Politico, Real Clear Politics, and the Des Moines Register were on hand. With all those sound bites and all of those different reports and quotes to choose from, I find it odd that you only sought out Red State for information. I heard her tell Hannity last night when he asked her point blank about it, that she was STILL contemplating…knowing that Perry would announce also. I also heard her say earlier that she “could” endorse Perry. Perry is my Gov. and the “word” out a few months ago when he first started seriously thinking about it – was that he was waiting to see if Palin would get in b/c they are both “similar”. But that’s just rumor. I think she really likes Perry — when asked about any differences w/ Bachmann a couple of months ago she said that she thought she (Palin) had the Executive/energy experience that Michelle didn’t have. So my guess is she still might be wondering about Perry who does have that – like her. But if he doesn’t say/stand for certain important issues, then she’ll probably get in. ?
I like all three, but would prefer Sarah. My thoughts are that it will depend on whether Obama actually runs or not also. I’m reading more and more about important Dems not wanting him to run & want Hillary. So if she runs, think another strong, popular woman would be best – like Sarah – and then she may get in. ???? But right now think Perry will become the frontrunner.

Well put, and I think you’re probably correct on all counts……Currently, I‘m thinking that it’ll be a Perry/Bachmann ticket, but if Bachmann turns him down at the convention we could very well see a Perry/Palin ticket which will catch hell from the marxist press, but should be unbeatable! Either way, it’s going to be a VERY interesting year!

I want her in Washington DC and don’t care which direction she takes to get there. Wish we could put the top three there right now, TODAY…. Palin, Perry, and Bachmann. Even though I want to see the feds out of our schools as much as possibe I would still like to have Beck as a school czar to get the system on the right track…how about it?.

      PERRY IS A LIBERAL.

Palin and Trump 2012. Bachmann as sect of the tresurary. Cain sect of state.

News Flash: Palin beat the hell out of Don Lemon just for the fun of it. Lemon is reported to be in extremely critical condition

Smart political move for Palin (and Perry) to stay out of straw poll, knowing that Iowa voters would favor one of their own – Mrs. Bachmann. I’ll take Palin over Bachmann – but Bachman would be my 2nd choice.

Palin is awesome! However I think she is going to be more powerful if she does not run than if she does! With that said…if she runs….you go girl!!

I believe Palin already said that if like minded folk have a good chance to win that she wouldn’t enter into the fray. Think she is happier at being a King maker then a candidate anyway and very good at it too boot. I do hope, if she doesn’t back Cain, that she does back Bachmann at least in the Primaries. I hope she doesn’t back Perry; I like her a heck of a lot but I would loose a little respect for her if she does this. Now for the actualy presidential election, of course she will and should back whoever the Republican candidate is since BO’s gotta go. :)

She needs to back whoever can beat Obama. Rick Perry is a conservative. He intends to bring jobs back to America by once again creating a climate where business can thrive. If you want prosperity to return, he’s the man for the job. The three most important things right now are: (1) Get Obama out of the White House, (2) Get rid of the stranglehold that marxist, job-killing policies have on American business, and (3) continue to fill up the House and Senate with true conservatives. Don’t take your eyes off the goal.

@Marjorie Rick Perry is NO conservative. Al Gore’s campaign manager. Crony capitalist. No. We don’t need another one of these. Ever.

I’ll add to this as well. Perry, if not a Bilderberg, is a Bilderberg symphathizer. I despise most neocons and globalist. Still, if Perry does happen to win the Republican nomination, I’ll pinch my nose with both hands and pull the lever with my elbow for Perry (that goes for Romney too) since BO’s gotta go. I guarantee you that any candidate is better then BO and most Americans, I hope, will vote AbO. :)
