AP and NBC: Paul Ryan is Romney’s VP Pick

The Associated Press and NBC News are each reporting that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has picked Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan to be his running mate.

Associated Press Leakers Say Paul Ryan is Romney Veep Pick

A Republican with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press that Romney has chosen Ryan. The Republican spoke on condition of anonymity because this person was not authorized to disclose the decision.

Romney was expected to introduce Ryan during a rally Saturday morning in Norfolk, Va.

This is not the first time Ryan has sparred with the Obama administration in a prominent way. At the president’s health care summit in 2010, the House Budget Committee chairman delivered a broadside against President Obama himself:

      Kicknback, I’m not voting for Obama. He signed the bill, that Ryan voted for and Romney supports that will allow him to snatch people up (like in China) and get rid of them for ever based only on his suspicions. I think the people wearing the tin-foil hats are those that don’t believe this law will be abused. At least I’m consistent. You’ll vote for tyranny if it has an R behind it.     I like Paul Ryan….good fiscal conservative, but honestly….he adds no excitement to the ticket…and we all know that!

    I personally think Romney needs to pick Allen West….that man would shake things up for the better! But oh well, guess we will find out for sure Saturday.

      K8TI, I couldn’t agree more. Paul Ryan is a wonderful guy and quite acceptable to the Tea Party, but Col. West would have been a much better choice for a myriad of reasons. The problem is that Mitt is STLL being “handled” by some of Elmer Fudd McCain’s ultra-unsuccessful team, who keep advising him to stay in his PREVENT DEFENSE instead of taking it to the Marxist/Muslim/Kenyan pretender in the White House. They’re trying to bore voters to death a la 2008. OMG… I hope all these polls are seriously flawed.

      If there is an election, provided Romney wins, he will need a “numbers guy” and that is Paul Ryan.
      Actually, Romney doesn’t need a numbers guy, this country needs him and then if we can get a little of Disney’s Pixie Dust we will be able to save this country.

      Don’t you think that removing Ryan to become VP would damage our base? Afterall, Ryan is powerful in the Congress and HE ACTUALLY GETS THINGS DONE. As the VP HE WILL BE ABLE TO DO NOTHING EXCEPT TALK – there’s no REAL power there. I love Ryan, but the VP should be someone like Rubio, Pawlenty, or some Governor who has no power in the House or Senate, but who can be persuasive.

    I am having mixed reactions above Ryan. I have nothing against him personally and he seems to be a better conservative than Romney, new blood, great with budgets, etc. But strategically, wouldn’t awesome conservatives like Allen West or Marco Rubio who could assist with the ethnic/minority votes have been more prudent. Help me excited about this-PLEASE.

      I am fine with Paul Ryan.

      He is a bit of a RINO but can cut the budget. I just wish his budget included eliminiating WHOLE DEPARTMENTS like the dept of ed, HUD, Fanny/Freddie, etc. and closing some European and Asian military bases and let those countries pay for their own defense. I would take those military personnel and put them in military bases along our border and build military bases on our borders using military workers to keep the costs down since there would be so many of standing around doing nothing initially when they returned to the USA. The left and right would like that – putting Americans to work defending our borders.

      Not only did he not vote to cut govt when they had 6yrs of power under Bush, they grew gov’t by leaps and bounds, then hid the wars off the books. He’s a career politician, ever held a private sector job? Never created one job.

    Love the choice, fantastic. LOVE Rubio, but Ryan is probably the smarter choice. Gloves come off now, we have to get our government back!!! Everybody has to do what they can do get Republicans back in office….let’s get to WORK!!!

      Debt and excessive regulation is killing us. Romney and Ryan would be a great one-two punch to get things straightened out in this country. It would be a good start. We need some jobs people. We need to look out for ourselves for a while. Way too much meddling in the affairs of other countries.

      I always wonder at “polls” that change from one day to the next. Does that mean there are people who would vote one way today but will vote some other way tomorrow?
      Everyone has already made up their minds…and those that haven’t are just the criminally stupid.
      No matter who Romney had picked…he is a “nazi-racist-homophobe and he wants to kill Grandma and the kids”.
      Politics aside, Mr. Romney is a good man. That alone makes for bad odds.
      On the other hand, his opponent is a lunatic and his VP is……well, he’s an amusing clown,isn’t he?
      Are there really folks who would say,” I was going to vote for Romney…but because he chose Ryan I’m not.? Doubt it. I mean…two nice men…or a manical communist and Pennywise the clown. Not an ideal choice, perhaps, but the choice still pretty clear.

    Ryan works for me!
    Of all the names being bantered around, I liked ryan the best.
    I am not arguing about it, but in my opinion, Rubio is not eligible.
    Christie is an UBER RINO with a big mouth. I don’t know Portman, and I am a political junkie. So I don’t believe the average person knows him, either.
    Ryan is a LITTLE more known, but not much. But, I believe Ryan would keep Romney to the right. And if the Democrats have found no dirt on Ryan by now, there is none. So, they will just have to do the same thing as they are doing to Romney, now.

    According to the New American Paul Ryan votes in accordance to the Constitution 67% of the time. Too bad he couldn’t have picked someone that supports the Constitution much more like Rand Paul (93%). However, they will still appear to be angels when up against Obama. This should be a landslide election. Expect something drastic like a new unexpected war or some type of staged catastrophe to distract people from the issues and to endear the gullible Americans to how Obama handles this “pressure” with such courage. Liberals get desperate when the masses get more educated and they start to lose support.

      Allen West? Rand Paul? Are you kidding me? As much as I like both of these guys they have made so many extreme comments that they would absolutely bring down Romney. The truth of the matter is that people are going to find fault with any candidate. I get tired of all the bantering that goes on about each candidate. Lets go through each one shall we:

      Rob Portman- Rich mulit-millionaire white dude from the 1950′s. Not true conservative
      Rubio- Not enough experience. Rookie.
      Pawelenty- Isn’t dynamic, nothing to get excited about.
      Rice- Someone would find some thing to complain about……
      Christie—-Not conservative enough. RHINO. Not sure what that means since every tea party person has been called that at one time or another.

      Do I need to mention more? My point is that in less the pick is Alllen West or Rand Paul, half of the commentators on this forum think the constitution is going to collapse.

      I could not be happier with Paul Ryan as the pick. Great job Romney!!

    Two white men? Romney just made it harder for us to get him elected. Allen West would have given decent black people an alternative to the radical, Obama. If Romney gets elected, he should appoint West to be Secretary of Defense. Sarah Palin for Secretary of State.
    If Obama stays to become the first emperor of the United States of America, there are many of us who are going to move to Alaska, our last frontier, join the secessionist movement, and defend the borders of our new nation.

      that is 100% true there brohamski. watch and rewatch the healthcare summit vid above. see obummer? biden? look real close at their facial expressions. THEY ARE PISSED!!!!! Ryan will decimate biden in a debate. Ryan is well loved in this state. i can have discussions will my more left leaning friends, and they’ll scream and shout about this or that repub senator, but as soon as Ryan‘s name is brought up they’re like oh well …. Ryan is different he uhm well….

      this pick just handed Wisconsin to Romney. a feat that has not happened here since Reagan’s 1984 bloodbath of taking 49 of 50 states.

      I liked some aspects of Ryan’s budget, but then I heard it was full of more tax cuts for really wealthy people.

      I thought his plan was going to be about cutting back government, not cutting back government for more huge tax cuts. Dunno if that claim is 100% true, but I just couldn’t get behind a plan like that.

      If you really, truly, cut back government…………I mean really cut it back…………way back…….then government would not need so much revenue.

      That would lead one to the realization that tax cuts would be in order.

      And since the rich pay the lion’s share of the taxes………it only makes sense that they would be on the receiving end of those cuts.

      Unless of course you are more for the idea of redistributing that money.

      Are you a “wealthist” ?

      Do you really believe that the wealthy somehow keep the poor from becoming more well off?

      They don’t do tax cuts because they want to give them their money back, they want to do it because they think “trickle down economics” is the way to run the economy.

      When I think of trickle down economics, all I can see is a family of 5 eating at a dinner table, and there are people at the bottom of the table eating the scraps the fall to the floor.

      Trickle down economics in this sense would say, “let’s just keep piling more food onto the table, and logic dictates, more scraps will fall to the floor.”

      I think the better way would be to invest in the middle class. They can then afford to buy the products that the wealthy are selling, which in turn creates demand for the product, which requires more workers, which means more jobs etc,

      Are you telling me that private industries don’t like having a monopoly(which would mean keeping other people from becoming wealthy)?

      Are you telling me private companies don’t want to minimize competition?

      Are you telling me that the main goal behind private corporations isn’t to maximize profits?

      Is this true of ALL companies? no, of course not.

      Some companies actually care about their employees(I’m lucky enough to have just found a new job at a company that does).

      Do I think that after 3 mansions, you should focus on finding ways to help people who are less off instead of finding a way to get more money to get that 4th and 5th mansion? Yes. If that makes me a bad person, then so be it.

      Some of these people make millions of millions of dollars every year, and they barely given a fraction of it.

      If you‘re making 20 million a year and you’re already extremely wealthy, I don’t see how you can justify not voluntarily giving upwards of 60+ percent of that money to charitable organizations, etc.

      Hell, even if you did things through you personally involving scholarships, etc

      Bot to just take all of that money an try to find ways to pay less taxes on it. It’s just not my style.

      I am fortunate enough to be able to live a fiscally conservative lifestyle(mainly because I live within my means), but I know others aren‘t as fortunate so I don’t sit around and cry when my taxes go up 2 or 3 % and I’m making under 40k a year.

      A lot of these rates they’re wanting to take from 36 to 39% and you have a big hoopla over it.

      Really? I mean, I suppose Romney could have done worse, but I’m not seeing the Libertarian in his voting record. At least in terms of civil liberties. I actually like him better than Romney. I have heard different things on his budget plan, but most of the Paul supporters seem to think he doesn’t cut nearly enough, and only cuts future spending increases. I’ve always thought that at least it was as step in the right direction. Maybe he‘ll shore up the base for y’all. I’m standing firm on the civil liberties myself, so the VP choice is really meaningless in my book.

    I know FNC isn’t the Blaze but why was Juan Williams given a finite amount of time to speak about all the big news then was cut off with the excuse of a “hard break” (commercial) after Juan mentioned Paul Ryan as the pick cause Romney’s numbers are slipping in Wisconsin. When the break ended FNC continued with their regularly scheduled programming. Seems highly fishy to me and mean – getting Juan on the phone then cutting him off.

    Disclaimer – Im 23 and voting for Romney. Rubio was my top VP pick

    Yes Paul Ryan is a RINO but he is better than Romney, Rice, Jeb Bush and a whole lot better than Chris Christy.

    The USA will disappear as a republic within 20 or so years as everything ends. Romney WILL NOT fix the things because he is FOR the biggest government and for The Fed. The USA will end eventually – sooner rather than later – because of that. When historians hundreds of years from now write the epitaph for the USA it will be that Americans wrecked their country by passing and then demanding and FORCING its citizens into non-free market entitlement programs like SS, Medicare, Medicaid, RomneyCare, ObamaCare and by enacting The Fed they put the nail in the coffin also. SHEEPLE GREED votes in politicians who give them “STUFF” The final nail is the USA stopped being a republic and started being an empire like the old British and Rome empires maintaining over 900 EXPENSIVE military installations around the world while the military machine gets rich. Not the mention the cost of endlessly fighting worthless wars NOT DECLARED by congress by by dictator presidents.

    Look on the bright side. IF Romney wins, the country still loses. Maybe the USA will break up and TRUE patriots of the Constitution like Rep Mike Hill (UT) & Rand Paul and TED CRUZ will start a new country. I will probably be dead & hope someone digs up my bones and buries me on the freedom side. Let the Socialists like Romney and Communists like Obama have their parts to RUIN again.
