Is Schwarzenegger Looking for a Job in the Obama Administration?

It kind of seemed that way as the outgoing California governor told the Los Angeles Times that he’s consider a post working in the Obama administration and began to “riff on his credentials,” according to the Times’ David Lauter.

“I’m a very big believer in environmental issues,” said the governor, who considers legislation to combat global warming one of his major achievements in office. “I’ve traveled the world…. I’m very familiar with the world.”

The governor went on to say that he would like to work on public policy issues in which he could have an impact “with my celebrity power, and also my knowledge and experience.” …

Schwarzenegger said he has credibility on that issue, and “people are very receptive when I talk about these things because I’m a Hummer driver … not a tree hugger.”

Seem far-fetched?

Maybe not so much, considering the fact that Obama has mentioned Schwarzenegger as a potential Cabinet member in the past.  In 2007, as he campaigned for the nation’s highest office, then-Sen. Barack Obama cited the California governor’s environmental work as a possible job credential: “What (Schwarzenegger’s) doing on climate change in California is very important and significant. There are things I don’t agree with him on, but he‘s taken leadership on a very difficult issue and we haven’t seen that kind of leadership in Washington,” Obama said of the California governor.

Though the White House routinely declines to comment on personnel issues, Schwarzenegger says he already has plans to head to Washington when his term is up:

Once out of office, he said, he “has plans to go back to Washington with Secretary [George] Schultz and others” to push for a new approach to energy policy. He said the country needs to bring Democrats and Republicans together on energy policies that both sides can agree on in order to reduce dependence on foreign oil and become competitive, “rather than always talking about global warming, which turns some people off.”

    Arnold helped to destroy the economy of California and now he wants to join the losing team of Obama who he once mocked as weak and wimpy ? Go ahead Arnold, but just remember Obama’s team is going down just like the state you just screwed up.

    I wouldn’t think that he could be a cabinet member, since they are part of the order of presidential succession. What if it fell on him to be president? He’d be ineligible.

    obama thinks Arnold would help bring him Republican and Indep voters. no way, we would never vote for an Arnold on his knees in front of obama, and we all know Arnold didn’t have a part in Planet of the Apes.

    I guess it takes a treminator to know a terminator. Like I have said before with all the Hollywood connections and interviews and appearances obama has done he should win an oscar. Now with Arnie on board to help bankrupt this country like he has done with California, maybe they will both get one as they look us right in the eye and try to convince us that they actually give a damn about the people.

    You know, a long time ago I heard a story about Schwarzenegger coming to the US from Austria and trying to decide which party he wanted to be a part of, either Republican or Democrat. The story said that he decided to become a Republican because the Democrats that he saw on tv reminded him too much of the communistic government that he had left behind in Austria. I guess after all this time he decided that he could be different from Austrian communists that he ran away from if he called himself a Republican yet acted like those communists from Austria. Arnold, come to your senses and realize that no matter what you call yourself, you are no better than those people regardless of what you call yourself and you art trying to bring their form of government from Austria to the US and for that you will never be forgiven nor forgotten, but perhaps you don’t care about any of that. If you are going to keep going the way you’re going, at least be enough of a man to be truthful to what you have become which is definitely nothing to brag about.

    Obama being an actor himself having fooled the country has stacked the White House full of actors, so he might as well hire Schwarzenegger. Maybe he can then try and stage a comeback in 2012. Although its unlikely he’s going to make it, the pull cane is already around Obama’s head, all that’s now needed is a little tug. Arnold won’t even be enough to save him.

      Remeber he was complicit ( although he used to appear in the media as if he was against it ) in turning the water off to the Central Valley farmers, to save the delta smelt .
      That was his way of earning his creds to be in the Hussain WH .
      That and bankrupting our state and ruining our economy.
