Is ‘Sit Together’ Plan for Obama’s SOTU Speech an Anti-GOP ‘Trap’?

Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) says yes:

(via Gateway Pundit)

Transcript from Media Matters:

BROUN: Well, I agree with you wholeheartedly. In fact, I’m talking to members of Congress. Our leadership said you do whatever you want to do. If you wanna sit with the Democrats, you can. If you wanna sit with Republicans, that you can. We‘re going to have a conference next week and I’m gonna bring that up there. I already believe very firmly that it is a trap and a ruse that Democrats are proposing. They don’t want civility. They want silence from the Republicans. And the sitting together being kissy-kissy is just another way to try to silence Republicans, and also to show — to keep the American people from seeing how few of them there are in the U.S. House now. Then when people stand up to — what the Democrats are going to be doing when Barack Obama spews out all his venom, then, um, if they’re scattered throughout all the Republicans, then it won‘t be as noticeable as if we’re sitting apart. So it is a ruse and I‘m not in favor of it and I’m talking about it and I hope other members of the Republican conference in the House will not take the bait.

There is no need to be civil with tyrannts trying to destroy the founding principals of this country, in fact being ‘civil’ with this evil filth is the worst thing to do. A giant light must be shown on these cockroaches for the filth that they are. Democrats and B.Huessiens agenda have been exposed, wake up people, time for civility is over, it’s time to call these people what they really are pinko filth.

This new civility is just a redefinition or customized version for the benefit of the liberals. Under these customized rules it would allow for liberals to have a leg up. Little do the liberals know is that they are still on a level ground of expressing their points.

I certainly hope and pray that the republicans will NOT fall for this. The bastards just don’t want the American people to realize how many seats they lost in the past election – can’t make little barry boy feel bad. We definitely need for the Republicans to sit together on the right side so we can see how much more work we need to do – how many more bums to throw out!!! – not that some more republicans don’t need to be thrown out but for sure the the marxocrats!

Don’t do it Republicans, if the shoe was on the other foot you know this would not be happening. Plus you will tick off a lot of your voters.

Is it just me but I don’t remember one of the reasons the voters sent all the new people to DC was to get along with people that want to end this country as we know it.

Every member better invoke his or her proverbial pair (gender neutrality) and sit with his or her own party. If you know you’re not divisive, then what are you worried about? It’s the beginning of new Congress with a great deal of tea party idealists. Please do not play the game.

It is an illusion the dems love to create for political correctness. I love the movie “Braveheart” when Mel goes to the meeting to “ pick a fight”. Contrast and be compared do not blend.

Yes, …and I think baseball teams should also sit together in a single dugout …and football’s home teams should share their sidelines with the opposing teams …and share their playbooks, too!. …and why don’t both boxers return to the same corner after the bell? …They could share their deepest heartfelt concerns about the fight that’s going on between them!

I agree, it’s another setup. This is the ‘Chicago Way’, bullying and brutal force. Remember last year, when Obummer verbally abused the Supreme Court of the United States and got away with it? That was a historical first; the kind of thing you find in banana republics. Did anyone but minority conservatives put the Sophomore-in-Chief or the crypto-Marxist ‘progressives’ in their place? No. The Regime Media was silent. There have been so many of these egregious breeches of civility, including and especially in the last week, that we have to believe the Left has no conscience or judgment at all.

the gop should sit by themselves, they should not sit as if they are in agreement with the presidents policies, the reason why they are seperated in their seating is to have that visual harmony of disagreement of policies, for them to sit side by side will give the appearance that they are in favor of the presidents policies…. so YES, it is a trap to help Obama get reelected….

Unless the Republicans wise up and start doing what is best for the Country and listening to the American citizens, they will be out as fast as they were put in. A speech is not required by the Constitution.

The President is simply required to report to Congress concernng the state of the Union, not to appear in person.

19th-century President sent Congress written reports; the first President to deliver an actual state of the Union speech before Congress was Woodrow Wilson in 1913.

Yes, yes. The Progressives have infected both parties, unfortunately. How many people on this site do you see praising Bush as a hard ball conservative? Uh…. I haven’t seen one yet. However everything Bush did Obama has done in hyper drive. Do you know why they call themselves “Progressives”? Because they progress slowly, inch by inch, law by law and faster each time. They use tragedies to their benefit to further push their ever-growing big government agenda. Bush didn’t cause 9/11 but he sure used it, Obama didn’t cause the oil spill or Tucson, but he sure is using them. Wake up and realize big government is bad, whether its big government to the Right or big government to the Left!!

They need to sit down shutup and hold their applause until the end…let the republicans take the lead and announce that an applause held to the end is appropriate to show a bipartisanship effort!

This is an absolutely terrible idea for the GOP. When the cameras scan the crowd, and there are two Dems standing and cheering a comment by the Potus, the cameras are going to capture 4-5 Repubs sitting around them with thier arms crossed. The Dems will claim they want unity and bipartisanship, while pointing out to everyone that the GOP wants no part of it.

Let’s see the news clips on the lamestream media after the speech, where Obama speaks about his healthcare plan and uses a sympathetic story of a child or elderly person who was supposedly “saved” by the program… followed by a shot of the audience with the Dems cheering and standing and GOP witting on thier hands. Brilliant propaganda,…er, um…PR move by the Dems. I can’t believe the GOP would even consider it. Sit separately so that your LACK of approval is shown in solidarity, yet you can still save face on touchy-feely things Obama will conjure up.

      It’s a trap either way.

If the Republicans sit with the Democrats, the size of their majority won’t be as evident, and they’ll be embarrassed whether they stand up or remain seated at the applause lines.

If they don’t sit with the Democrats, then they’ll be made to appear childish and “uncivil.”

I agree I said it was a trap a week ago when it was brought up last week, these people can not be trusted at any time with anything. Already Obama is going to ask for more spending for Infrastructure and more socialist programs. If he gets what he wants then he accomplishes two things one he bankrupts the country which will lead to civil unrest then he can then become a dictator he signed a executive order when he took office giving him that power if he declares martial law. I think the republicans should stay put and vote not to fund any more of his country killing ideas.

Who is naive enough to believe that suddenly Socialist progressives want to work together? The only thing they will do is lie to your face and use you in any way they can to further their agenda and nothing more!
These traitors have shown time and time again they don’t work for the people but they work for their real masters the Fed and the big global cartels and today behind the scenes more and more is China. They want a big global Socialist system like Soros does, this is why they like the Chinese this is why they don’t enforce our borders, this is why they allow mass migration of foreigners to our country, this is why are laws aren’t enforced.

Of course it’s a ruse and I’m glad there’s at least one Republican in Congress who gets it. If 60 million uninformed viewers watch the ABC, CBS or NBC evening news the day after the State of the Union and see, what appears to be, people all over Congress cheering as Obama chastises Republicans for repealing Obamacare, their opinion of Obamacare will become more favorable. Liberals understand how uninformed people are, how easily they are manipulated and how a picture is worth a thousand words. This little stunt of theirs to mix up the seating will bump up Obama’s approval ratings after the State of the Union and Democrats know it.

When the Democrats have power they basically tell the Republican to kiss their butt. Shut them out completely from health care negotiations…etc. Now the Republicans have the power and the Dems want to play friendly and guess what….the Republicans give in. Why in the hell would they do it? Because they want to be liked by everyone. BS…….Bottom line…THE REPUBLICANS HAVE NO BALLS. They need to tell the Dems straight up that WE have controll of the Peoples House and WE are going to set our agenda and WE are going to pass our legislation. AND TELL THE DEMS IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT TOUGH. JUST SIT DOWN AND SHUT THE HELL UP. For heaven’s sake guys….MAN UP for once. Screw politics. And screw the Media.

The Dems don’t play fair. It’s a trap to sit together and they will use it to their advantage. That’s how they are. Don’t you get it yet? Their first thought is: if we mix it up, Obama won’t look so weak with only a few standing for him since we own the majority of the house. It’s in the cards folks. Is the sit together at the SotU a trap?

Short answer: If you’re smart enough to ask this question seriously, but dumb enough not to know the answer, you don;t belong in Congress.

It‘s a simple as the Dems wanting it to appear that there’s broad bi-partisan support for the Obamagenda, when nothig can be further from the truth. It’s as simple as that.

It will be a lose-lose situation ONLY if Repubs cower under pressure. Much of politics is a game of psyching out the other party. Glenn is wrong about this being inconsequential. Perception sways the masses. Just look at how Obama gave himself a boost in the polls with the AZ “memorial” charade.

Let the left and its media foam at the mouth. So what! Repubs must stand apart, stand firm and EXPLAIN WHY. Expose those lying commie SOBs. Come on, show some cojones, Boehner!

Unfortunatly no Republicans have the guts to violate the civility given the President of the United for the last two hundred year during the State of the Union address like Joe “You lie!” Wilson. He showed how tough he was. Total macho. If Republicans weren’t all RINOs, they’d act like this was a town hall meeting and shout down the President as he tries to speak and drown him out with boos. But no Republican has the fortitude to take on the President in front of the country. Sad and pathetic.

This idea of showing solidarity as a nation is a huge trap which can only put Republicans in a bad light to the American public. They‘ll look like they’re willing to compromise on the issues important to our country. They’d look weak to America if they are willing to sit next to a Democrat. Don’t do it patriots!

Absolutely a ploy! Is it such a stretch to see that dispersal of Dems and Repubs does cover the lost of seats for the House as well as give the appearance of much more support for the President than actually exists in Congress. A call for Civility? Sure, when it suits and benefits the Libs, otherwise it is “elections have consequences,“ ”we won, you lost,“ and ”stay in the back seat.” The sad part is that we fall for it every time.
