Is the GZ Imam Reconsidering Mosque Plans?

During a speech and question-and-answer session at the Council on Foreign Relations today, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf (the imam behind the proposed mosque at Ground Zero) said that if he had to do it all over again he might enlist “different stakeholders” and “maybe not even do it at all.”

He also claimed that those involved with the project “are exploring all options as we speak” when asked if he would be willing to do things differently from this point forward and consider a compromise.

The admission starts at about 1:00 in the video below:

In that question-and-answer session, Rauf suggested the possibility of compromise: “We are exploring all options as we speak right now, and we are working to what will be a solution, God willing, that will resolve this crisis, diffuse it and not create any unforeseen or untoward circumstances that we do not want to see happen.”

Yet in the speech preceding his answer, he didn’t give the impression that compromise is immient:

“Is there really a need for an Islamic community center in lower Manhattan?” he said. “Is it worth all this firestorm? The answer, ladies and gentlemen, is a categorical ‘Yes.’ Why? Because this center will be a place for all faiths to come together as partners, as stakeholders, in mutual respect. It will bring honor to the city of New York.”

During the same session he also emphatically stated that it is “absolutely disingenuous” to suggest that Ground Zero is “hallowed ground,” considering the close proximity of a strip club and betting facilities.

    And come to think of it ?…Since Muslims are so GOD FEARING and LOVING why don’t they let us build a Christian Chuch at AL AQSA (the dome of the rock)…or maybe let Jews build a Synagouge in Mecca, come on Muslims be the so called religion of Peace you lie and say you are COME ON !!.     Maybe… just maybe if he stood up for St. Nicholas right to rebuild itself (the church that was destroyed on 9/11) then I MIGHT give him the benefit of the doubt. It is shameful that St. Nicholas has been trying to rebuild itself for 9 years but the bureaucrats in NY have thrown every roadblock possible at them, but when it comes to the mosque? Why they bent over backwards to help it get going.

      To me this is one of the most shameful parts of the story. Park51 on twitter made some comment about double standards and I pointed out the plight of this church and said that is the true double standard. Of course they had no response to me. And today I asked them to speak out about the violence against Christians in Indonesia, the oppression of Christians in Egypt and Saudi Arabia – no response. However they were happy to give a shout out to Michael Moore for his financial contribution to them. But then Moore not only thinks it should be built but that it should be built on Ground Zero proper. I hope the Imam proves me wrong and moves the mosque but I’m not holding my breath.

    I think people are just ignorant of what the Quran really is about, I studied it for years and it is a very dangerous book, unlike the Bible it does not speak of LOVE and PEACE but of Killing and WAR constantly…SURAH 5:51..”Have no Christian of Jew as your friend or protector, they are but friends and protectors of themselves, Allah does not guide them because they are not RIGHT” !!…Does anybody get this ?…Muslims are not to be friends with you, so all you peace loving dope smoking hollywood wierdos will be the first they annihilate, you are so immature…The Fox is in the Hen house folks.       We all now know that the Ground Zero mosque was originally known as “Cordoba House” to represent the muslim conquest of Spain in the year 711 A.D.. Then after the loud outcry against the “Cordoba House”, the Muslim Brotherhood operative Faisel Rauf changed the name to Park 51 which is odd since the address of the location is 45–47 Park Place.
      We must turn to the Koran-the book of islamic conquest, to understand the odd name for the “project”.
      Koran Chapter 51, Verses 45-47 explains all:

    Listen to http://www.cfr.org/publication/22925/conversation_with_feisal_abdul_rauf_audio.html. At minute 58:40, Rauf says, “90% of Sharia law is fully compatible — not only compatible — it’s consistent or compatible with American constitutional law and American laws. The areas of difference are small and minor.” This is at least as important as the part of his talk at the CFR that you chose to highlight in this story.

    Don’ t hold your breath on this guy… I have one question, how many time in the last 40+ years have we heard this crap and had it dirrectly being a cause for middle east peace. I think this guy isn’t very aware of the two major polotical parties in the U.S.,It’s the Liberals that hold their breath, thus Blue state.     Months ago many including myself realized this was all about driving up the price and selling to make a profit. He then makes money and looks like the bridge builder he claims to be by “compromising”

    Thanks to Donald Trump this has been confirmed, he was smart enough to walk however someone or some group will give them the $25 mill they said it would take for them to walk away.

      Would so love to believe they can be bought off, and hope it is true with all my heart. Alas, at this point it is definitely a “see it to believe it” proposition. After all, hasn’t Rauf gone on national TV to aver that the GZ mosque must now be built at all costs to protect US national security? If he backs down now for any reason, especially profit, he loses his credibility going forward, both with Americans who still want to believe in his good intentions and with the muslim world who think he is forwarding their cause. Whereas, if he sticks to his stated plan, he will keep his credibility going forward with both groups.

    Yes. Yes… why not undo it if you TRULY want to do the RIGHT THING.

    This is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA — What ever happened to the great melting pot?

    The factions created by the progressive movement has splintered our country. And these people are taking advantage of that … for their own agenda.

    If these folks are truly Americans, then stand up and DO THE RIGHT THING. Find another location for your house of religion. No one is telling you what to believe, or who to pray to, and yes, by the letter of the constitution you have the RIGHT to build your church there.

    But there is something in America called “Doing the right thing” demonstrating morals, integrity and honor. But perhaps your splinter culture is not educated in these virtues.

    It is time to start melting into that wonderful great big pot called the U.S.A.

Nobody noticed them infiltrating us until after 9/11 and then when the smoke cleared and we found out about the ones that hijacked the airplanes we looked around and wondered where they all came from.       We are called “the great melting pot” but we need to ask ourselves what does that really mean? True we appear to be a diverse people, but we are a people who came to this land to settle it – led, I contend, by the mighty hand of God. In my book I write about this coming together, for “out of many came ONE”. We were 13 colonies. There is good reason for this. Jacob (renamed Israel by God) had 12 sons, though Joseph is counted as two tribes – the tribe of Ephraim and the tribe of Manasseh. Ephraim would become a Commonwealth and be great. The only Commonwealth of history has been Great Britain. Manasseh would be the single greatest nation on the face of the earth – The United States of America. The tribe of Manasseh would be the last tribe to receive the land of his blessing, bestowed by Jacob before he died. Therefore, the people of Manasseh would live among all of their brother tribes. When the time came for them to settle their promised allotment they came up out of their brother tribes. That is why “out of many came one”. In Bible times Manasseh was made up of two territories in Israel. East Manasseh was a man-of-war and West Manasseh was an agriculturist. That is precisely why our emblem of the eagle holds 13 arrows and an olive branch with 13 leaves (sometimes 13 pieces of grain). Today the tribe of Manasseh, the single greatest nation ever known to mankind is the man-of-war, and the agriculturist that feeds the world; taught thus by our forefather Joseph while yet in Egypt. We have forgotten all this of course.
      Our flag has 13 stripes for each of our colonies, and stars on an azure blue field showing that we are a numerous people that would number the stars of heaven as the Scriptures tell us. In my book I tell you why our flag has red and white stripes on it. I know this because of my Welsh ancestry, just as our founders understood it, but your distorted history books will no longer tell you that. The stripes represent the welts that our ancient ancestors took on their backs from their enemies in captivity. These stripes represent the punishment they took and the victory they won while overcoming their enemies. Because we understand that now, there should be a run on American flags. Our flag literally represents then freedom and liberty. Joseph engrained that in us because of his lack of freedom and liberty, because his brothers sold him into slavery.
      Now, who are the PROGRESSIVES? They are none other then our ancient enemies who traveled through the pages of history with us, and were cumbersome to us, but now seek to rule over us. They are, who I call in my book, the descendants of ancient Assyria. They have melted into our tribe and we can no longer identify them as Assyrians but for their symbols, emblems, and their characteristics. They are contrary to everything we stand for. They despise our freedoms and our liberties and our form of governing. They seek to destroy us because of their ancient hatreds. The Bible tells us that the Assyrian leaders would be killed, their people dispersed and scattered and they would be known by a different name. They became in history the East German Assyrian/GOTH, as I call them in my book. We became the West German Germanic/Teutonic peoples after we fled captivity from Assyria where we had been taken as slaves when the Northern Kingdom of Israel was taken captive to Assyria.
      We have many enemies, but our biggest enemy is IGNORANCE. As we traveled through the pages of history our ancestors were SILENCED, slaughtered, their libraries burned therefore destroying our TRUE HISTORY, and their wealth stolen. That is why we have such a hard time remembering who we are, whose we are (God’s), and where we came from.

    This Iman is not truthful , his quote: “Because this center will be a place for all faiths to come together as partners, as stakeholders, in mutual respect. It will bring honor to the city of New York.” Even the least knowledgeable ,reader of the Koran , understands that the entire ideology of the Koran teachings , is that there are no other faiths (religions) other than Muslim. And it is mandatory that Muslims not be satisfied till all the world is Muslim . How does that ideology support building a place for all faiths to come together…
    The Koran also states that, although it does not support lieing , its ok to lie to a non Muslim as long as it benefits Muslims as a whole. That teaching most certainly , leads to the soft and fuzzy feeling of mutual respect.

      Sura 9 of the Quran says: The unbelievers (non-Muslims) should not enter Allah’s mosques bearing witness thereby against themselves that they are unbelievers. The works of those are vain and in the Fire they will abide forever. Only he who believes in Allah and the Hereafter, performs the prayers, gives the alms and fears no one but Allah, shall visit Allah’s mosques. Those shall be reckoned among the rightly guided.

    I would like for anyone that has the money to buy the property accross the street from this place, and sell boots and pork rinds, make the rinds on the property and have fans blow the smell and smoke at the mosque, and on the window paint the the bottom of a boot and point it straight at the mosque. If we can’t stop them than lets make it uncomfortable, here Mr. Trump will you help me do this by putting up the money, for the business.

    This imam is just toying with the emotions of the majority of Americans. He tells us a few days back that America will suffer if this mosque is moved, to try to let fear control America as it does in all of the muslim countries. Americans will not be controlled by fear or by him. His statement about the repurcussions to America if this mosque is moved only proved to us that it is that Islam is still at war with America. The teaching of Islam is what took our towers down, the Christmas day bombing attempt, Fort Hood massacre, and Times Square threat.

    the biggest ill conceived thought is that islam is a peaceful religion. first it isnt so much a religion as it is a religious political ideal second understanding that the first passages of the quran IS peacefull some people think that those sections are what moderate muslims believe. well this is not true. islamic law is very clear on this. according to islamic law what is written second TRUMPS what is written first (kind of like our amendments to our laws) and since everything in the last part of the quran is mostly pertaing to violence against (non-believers) and the “evil” and that it demands action against those who they (muslims) deem evil. (us) It also teaches that nothing is wrong in how you achieve these goals. lying cheating killing etc. is all acceptable as long as your doing it to trick those (evil) people and bring them down. DONT BELIEVE ME ? CHECK FOR YOURSELF GO ASK FOR YOURSELF

    I don’t trust this Imam Rauf whatsoever. He doesn’t have any intentions of moving the mosque. And watch it everyone, this also could be a way for Obama to try to distract all of us. We need to not only fight the Imam, but vote out the Democrats in order to control Obama.

      It must be awesome to be a muslim. You can say or do whatever you like. You can claim no responsibility for a travesty committed by your own ethnic group, yet get funding from said group to build an insulting building near the ground the travesty was committed by, you guessed it, the same group. When you are questioned about reconsidering the location due to the strong feeling it causes Americans, you need only reply that well i see your point but I would hate to anger the people funding the project, they’re dangerous. The best part is, it’s excepted. Democracy doesn’t die it commits suicide.

      It would be nice if the Imam considered his fellow Americans over the radicals. I find it hard to believe that the Imam or any person in the Imam‘s inner circle didn’t think this may become an issue. I have watched many of the shows about 9/11 over the past couple days and am more certain now that this should not be within steps of where so many people and people that were heroes died.

      Like everyone else I believe this guy has the right to build the mosque but that he shouldn’t. All the idiots screaming freedom of religion drive me nuts. Asking him to build elsewhere is no more a violation of freedom of religion than people criticizing Dr. Laura was a violation of freedom of speech.

      But what is driving me nuts, and this is separate from the mosque issue, is that more and more I get the feeling this guy is a snake. He claims to want to build bridges but his actions are the exact opposite of someone trying to do that. Any idiot knows you don’t build bridges by attacking those that disagree with you, yet he does just that. Check out the @park51 twitter. They retweet anyone who calls the opponents of park51 racists and bigots.

      nsblues does it seem to you like the Imam’s bridge under construction is a one way structure? Does to me. As far as their re-tweet they are incorrect. A religion is not a race so how can those against the site be racist? There is no such thing as islamaphobia. It is a made up word. People can be theophobes (fear of a religion) but this is a sensitivity issue. Terrorists flew the planes into the building’s. The Terrorists were islamic. The center being proposed is close enough to “ground zero” that it was hit by one of the pieces of landing gear from a plane that hit the towers.

      The Imam thinks Americans should be understanding and allow the center to go forward. How bout the Imam be understanding and consider the feelings of the tens of thousands that lost a loved one, a friend, an acquaintence, a co-worker, a member of their mosque, synagogue, church, chapel, etc.? I ask the Imam to watch the shows about 9/11 and find it in his heart to select another location at least 10 blocks from The WTC site.

      It is true that the far greater percentage of Americans don’t want the mosque built there, but then again he wasn’t talking to most Americans at the CFR was He?
      The Council on Foreign Relations represents the far left, the socialists, the radicals, and their own world dominating agenda. As conservatives we would do well to memorize the membership lists of the CFR and to boycott every name and business that does have a membership there, as they have proven that they are enemies to our freedoms as well as our constitution.

      I don’t believe a word this guy says.He is really slick.I understand it’s ok to lie as long as it gets the preferred results.Please,please don’t believe a word he says.I think that we have done to much pandering to the Muslim faction.How bout us doing the same for Jews and Christians.I was in Africa for two years and believe me as my guard would say,” I’m for me,who you for?” Thanks for letting me spout off.

By Jihad, Islam is established, Allah’s Word is made superior (which means only Allah has the right to be worshiped), and Islam is propagated. By abandoning Jihad, Islam is destroyed and Muslims fall into an inferior position; their honor is lost, their lands are stolen, their rule and authority vanish. Jihad is an obligatory duty in Islam on every Muslim. He who tries to escape from this duty, dies with one of the qualities of a hypocrite.
