Cenk Uygur hosted a prime-time show on the MSNBC after the Keith Olbermann firing resulted in a rearrangement of the prime time lineup. Uygur filled the 6 p.m. Eastern slot vacated by Ed Schultz since late January. In the video Uygur explains he turned down a significantly larger MSNBC contract for a much smaller role because he was told by the MSNBC president that the decision to remove him from primetime was due to political pressure from people in Washington who did not like his “tone” which was very critical of President Obama.

Posted on July 21, 2011 at 9:01amMost likely they removed him because he was SUPER boring. His show was 100% Democrat Propaganda so I am sure the WHite House loved it but he was not very convincing. He often spread mistruths and speculations. If his reasons here were true for being fired, Chris Matthews would be gone long ago. No ones “tone” is more abusive to their guests than that motor mouth. This video is a perfect example how this nutbar twisted facts.

Posted on July 21, 2011 at 9:46pmHey Steve. First of all let me tell you I’m not a fan of Mattews (however that’s spelled), nor Olbermann, nor whatever that guy was that was booted from MSNBC. Especially that last guy. They have their moments, but, to me, in general I’d give them thumbs down. And I’m a liberal, in case you didn’t know. And don’t have cable either; I just watch these guys on youtube.
I never understood the appeal of the young turks guys that just got fired from MSNBC. The only thing I could imagine is that he appealed to young, idealistic and not-to-bright liberals, or young liberals who couldn’t find anyone who spoke their language.
Olbermann is smarter than your average bear, but he is often so over-the-top that I think he’s learned too much from Limbaugh. Whenever he gets righteously angry about one topic or another, I gag and stop watching.
I’m not a fan of Mathews either. I haven’t watched a Mathews youtube in a year.
But I stand by my point. If MSNBC had someone to replace Mathews with who brought in more revenue, they would. But they don’t.
I appreciate your post.

I dunno. I’ve seen him a couple of times, he is just an acid tongued little toad. It would make perfect sense to me that they sacked him because he was simply unpalletable as you suggest, but I’m not really seeing that as some kind of command and control order from the White House. In other words, it’s completely easy to fire him for being obnoxious without the need of a figurehead nefarious power doing it. When I hear fired employees speak I generally hear the “It wasn’t my fault” spiel, and this doesn’t really strike me as anything different. I’m going to need more I guess to buy it.
