Is this Alaska’s Loch Ness Monster?

Lake monsters, sea serpents — for generations, locals have passed down legends of mythical beasts that haunt their waterways. Evidence is usually based on a grainy photograph or a thirdhand retelling of a deceased relative’s firsthand account. But this time, we have video footage — or so the Discovery Channel claims.

The 2009 video, which premiered Tuesday night during the Discovery Channel’s “Alaskan Monster Hunt,” appears to show a long creature undulating up and down along the surface of the water in Alaska’s Bristol Bay.

Alaskas Loch Ness Monster?

“These are large animals, there’s a whole family of them, it’s swimming up and down, it’s probably propelling itself by the flap of its tail,” scientist Paul Leblond said while viewing the footage shot by fishermen. “That looks like Cadborosaurus, the sea monster that people see on the coast of B.C., Washington State, all the way up in Alaska.”

Cadborosaurus sightings have been reported for years, according to Discovery News. “Caddy” is purported to be a giant sea serpent with a long neck, although many have speculated the creature could be a large eel or some kind of fish.

So, what do you think? Is this the Last Frontier’s very own Nessie? Let us know in the comments.

No, It looks to me like a group of DNC researchers who devolved just a little bit (not far to go) and didn’t make it back after spying on Sarah Palin. They followed her out in a boat, it took on water and they devolved instantly to their native slimy eel shape with a blow hole on the top of the head. You’ll never see them again because they are bottom feeders…

It is possible for the monster to exist; the legend of the giant squid was considered just that, a legend until they have found the carcasses and caught a few on cameras deep in the water at least twice I am aware of (via the Discovery Channel.)

THEN they have found in the waters of the Antarctic regions, the Colossal Squid, even bigger than the giant squid…so why not another one up in the Alaskan waters?

Squid don’t usually surface until nightfall. It’s obviously exhaling through a blowhole. Probably a known, but rarely seen in these waters, species of porpoise. Either way, thanks to the Hillstrand Bros. for always bringing the entertainment.

Agreed. Far less far-fetched than the actual Loch Ness Monster, since it would be an ocean animal, and as they’ve said, there’s a LOT of unexplored ocean. And ocean animals tend to be highly mobile.

If you had watched the show on discovery, you would have seen a lot more of the video, as well as the part where the Hilstrandt brothers hunted it down and actually hooked one. It outran their boat and broke their line, but there was some video of whatever they latched on to in the water, and it was VERY large and white. You should be able to watch it, or at least part of it, at http://www.discovery.com, in the Deadliest Catch section under the title “Alaskan Monster Hunt”.

I for one find the video interesting and remain open minded about the subject , new species are discovered every year. Over 100 hundred new primates have been discovered in the last 10 years, and numerous species of fish and birds. We have a society of impatient people probably because of the advance of technology. Still we need to realize that just because you can see rare species of animals and birds on Mutual of Omaha’s wild Kingdom, or Marty Stoufers wild America all taken from game reserves by the way dosen’t mean you can get clear video of some prehistoric fish or of Bigfoot anytime because the technology is available or because you think someone would have saw it already or the Government would have fixed it for you. If these animals, fish or primates exist there are very few of them and are leaving in area’s that are mostly uninhabited or uninhabitable by humans. Alaska is huge and only a fraction of it has humans living in it, most of it’s waterways are frozen most of the year. Some of you are just having fun but a few of you are way to cynical , it’s still a big world with lots of possiblities .

I’m kinda guessing your speaking in gest… but in case you aren’t, Jesus (Yeshua), who did rise from the dead and it hasn’t been effectively disproved, also did not teach socialism. Nowhere did he tell the people that they must surrender a significant part of their income to the gov’t to be distributed to others. About that part about “rendering unto Caesar”…. the Roman tax burden of the time was much less, and they did not distribute to the poor. If anything, they sent it to Rome to be spent on things that benefitted the Caesar, the Senate, or other Romans.

And when Jesus spoke to the rich man about selling all he had and give to the poor, He didn‘t include any middleman gov’t agency to divey out the funds. And besides, Jesus was speaking to the man’s heart and what he truly valued…. following Jesus or keeping his rich and comfortable lifestyle. Marx and Engles were nowhere in this context. And even if Jesus was 100% gung ho about the poor, why didn’t he direct Mary (who was anointing His head with very expensive oil) to sell the rest and give it to the poor…. why didn’t he acknowledge Judas in this matter? You would do good to look back to Jesus’ focus… the heart of the m

This may possibly be a hoax, just like other hoaxes. But would you go into shock if it turned out to be real? There are, after all, other so called extinct creatures that were later found to be far from extinct, such as that type of fish they found in the waters off Madegascar.

Also there are also reports of sightings by native Americans of what they called Thunderbirds, and they described what looked similar to pterodactyls. Add to this the legends of dragons that look kinda close to dinosaurs.

I guess it will have to take a full close up video of the cadborosaurus with a person running for dear life from one of them before there existance will be believed.
