Is This Picture of a Bikini-Clad Woman Too Sexy for a Billboard? Apparently, Yes

Take a look at this ad. Do you think it’s too steamy for a billboard?

Is This Picture of a Bikini Clad Woman Too Sexy for a Billboard? Apparently, Yes

Some people in the California town of Auburn think so. The billboard, promoting a tanning salon company, went up Tuesday. By Thursday, it was vandalized when someone covered it with a black tarp and spray painted the words “no porn in our town” on it:

Is This Picture of a Bikini Clad Woman Too Sexy for a Billboard? Apparently, Yes

“There is nothing pornographic about the image at all. It shows a beautiful tan on a confident women. It’s a very classy image,” Jeremy McCain, media director for California Sun, the company behind the advertisement, told the Sacramento Bee.

“If you go out to the lake or the beach, women wear bikinis all the time. It’s a very conservative bikini,” he added.

But apparently not everyone agrees. Not only is the vandal obviously upset, but his message must have resonated with others. Thursday afternoon the ad was taken down and replaced with an animal adoption sign:

Is This Picture of a Bikini Clad Woman Too Sexy for a Billboard? Apparently, Yes

According to Fox40 in Sacramento, the sign sits near an elementary school.

“My goodness, we are a very conservative family with two daughters and a young son,” California Sun owner Mike Blore told the station.

Now that the ad has been taken down, he’s upset. According to him, it wasn’t his decision to remove it.

“Here‘s a company that doesn’t hesitate to put a Viagra ad in a children’s show,” said Blore, referring to CBS Outdoor, the company that owns the billboard. It didn’t return e-mails from FOX40 about why the image was replaced.

“Had somebody just called us up and said, ‘Hey can you guys re-think what you’re doing,’ we wouldn’t be upset,” Blore added.

You can watch Fox40′s video report below:

What do you think?

Crazy stuff, if this offends anyone they may want to consider disconnecting cable and never listen to a radio. Dancing with the stars and any reality show has more exposure than this.As does most any other network tv show. Grow up and find something important to worry about. Lord knows there is enough available.

I’m a conservative but see nothing wrong with this, it‘s nothing you wouldn’t see on any beach aside from a nude one…. these are the people that make all Christians seem to be prudes and intolerant of anything to do with the flesh of the human body.

However, it would be more appropriate in a magazine or somewhere where young children can’t see it but then again how many kids are driving up and down the highways not in the backseat fighting over which Disney DVD for mom and dad to put in? ;)

I dictionary that I looked up the word pornography in a few years ago gave the following definition:

“Something that sexually arouses or is meant to.”

Is that girl dressed like that to grab attention from men and to be sexually arousing? YES. If they weren’t trying to sexually arouse that would have put up a different photo. And no I’m sorry, that bikini is not conservative. How utterly ridiculous.

But where do we draw the line? I still have to look at these things. How can I teach my children to be modest, when they see the world around them exposed? Freedom is awesome, but anyone who thinks America is free has rocks in there heads. Everyone is forced to buy and do what our elites say. That is not freedom. That is slavery.

I think you hit on the real issue with why they want to see the billboard go away. Liberals think tanning salons promote skin cancer and therefore raise medical costs nation wide. That is why they passed a tax on tanning salons in an effort to appear like they are concerned and doing something about health care costs………RIDICULOUS!!!!
Since when did Californians care about showing alot of skin? And this is not as bad as many other advertisements selling everything else.

The picture, in the proper place (i.e not in front of a church, kindergarten, or on an Amish farm), is not pornographic and should offend no one just as wearing a bikini at the beach is great but is totally out of place in church, school, and many other places.

How’s that a problem? If the parents take the kids to the beach, they are going to see women in bikinis. Heck! As long as I had the figure for a bikini, I wore them. My second husband would not let me have a one-piece, much less wear one!

And although I weigh what I did when I graduated from high school and was a life guard, I don’t wear bikinis now because “the bikini look” has a way of backfiring after gravity takes its toll. We older women need some of our “awesomness” covered up!

Coppertone was a suntan lotion not a “sunscreen” back in the day.

I remember the Coppertone billboard on the way to the beach on highway 101 in California, It showed the little girl with the puppy. It was animated, and the puppy would pull down the bottom of her bikini and show the tan line on her rear. We thought it was cute. Nowadays, someone would scream “child porn”. There were also the “Burma Shave” signs. This would be in the ‘60’s.

I’m with TOWER and many others here, I see no problem with it, but we don’t allow billboards at all here in Hawaii, which is nice considering the scenery.

I am surprised that PETA didn’t jump on the band wagon since the model is obviously wearing leather boots.
(And I can’t believe I actually looked at the boots.)

If this is porn then Anthony Weiner should be thrown in jail.

If it causes someone to have LUST in their heart, then IT IS THE SAME THING as fornication or adultery has already sinned:

JESUS HIMSELF SAID IN Matthew 5:28 but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

This country is an assylum, and it is being run by the Mental Patients

What else is new in California. If they can find a way to make a stink about something, then they do it.
