Is This the Seedy Strip Club Where Secret Service Agents Allegedly Picked Up Prostitutes?

Reports are surfacing of the “dingy Colombian love club” where President Obama’s Secret Service agents allegedly picked up hookers ahead of the Summit of the Americas conference in Cartagena, according to the New York Daily News.
A windowless, one-story brick building with neon signs and a public shower, the club (called the Pley Club) is a far cry from the 5-star hotel where the agents were staying.
“The gringos got rowdy at the bar,” one of the locals said. “They drank fine whiskey and slept with the prettiest ones, the ones that charge 300,000 pesos (about $180).”
He continued, “Some did not want to pay. To make it worse, they almost beat up employees who wanted them to pay up.”
However, the club’s manager told the New York Daily News that, to the best of his knowledge, the Secret Service agents never set foot on the premises. The Daily News’s sources said otherwise.
Either way, the manager was quick to explain the process whereby his girls sell more than a dance:
‘The girls dance for the audience. They put on a show…Then, they walk around and talk to the guys. A dance can cost from 80,000 to 90,000 pesos.
‘Then, if they like each other, they negotiate a deal…The tourists come here and have a good time. We don’t let them mistreat the girls. They come to us if someone isn’t treating them right. Customers get drunk, but it never gets out of hand.’
One of the staffers at the Hotel Caribe, where the agents were staying, claims one of the agents started tossing furniture and others flashed their badges to try to settle the matter, after a manager stepped in on behalf of a prostitute who allegedly wasn’t paid.
“When the hotel manager showed up, one of the agents starting throwing chairs and tables around…They were showing their badges saying, ‘Look, look who we are!’” The staffer continued, “He didn’t want to pay one of the girls. They had huge egos.”
Though prostitution is legal in parts of Colombia, it violates a basic code of conduct for Secret Service agents to hire hookers. Moreover, it could be grounds for revoking their top-secret security clearance, which every Secret Service agent must have.
President Obama commented on the matter Sunday, saying he will be “angry” if the allegations prove to be true, and he expects a “thorough and rigorous” investigation.

It’s a sad life for these women in these third world countries!!! On a side note, I wonder what the “race” of the Secret Service agents were??? I know it’s irrelevant to me, but, it would be an interesting statistic…….

Because the girls that worked there were not above trying to get intel and sell it. So this is not “just about sex”. You compromise your mission by allowing yourself to be distracted.

We need some context , which a book maybe able to provide. How much of this went on during the last 40 years? Maybe the bosses of these personnel did the same exact thing in days gone by. the real crime of these agents might be that they grew up in this culture & the culture is changing. They just got caught during the transition.
Maybe the culture has not changed & they just go caught.
How corrosive is it to see the antics of Bill Clinton, Senator Ensign & others senior people day in & day out? Maybe they were just aping their superiors (?).
Last I wonder if there is more time away from home with this administration than others due to all the vacations. The longer & more often a person is away form home the more likely that your average person will stray. So if you live in a glass house start picking up stones.

Those agents not only go through massive amounts of initial training, but continue to train when not on a particular mission. They also have to be counseled, and interviewed at certain times annually. They also have to take periodic polygraphs and fail will cancel somebody’s career. I remember several of our PSD missions while in the Army. Our training was based on some of the Secret Service training, but obviously not all. We would train a month or more for a one week or less mission. Nobody was allowed to drink anything alcoholic from the start of the training, then through the entire mission. We would have a “Wheels Down” party, not a Wheels Up part which is a common misconception. If an aircraft is in the air with the ‘subject’ and it faces any problems or distress, naturally it will return to where there is already a security staff on the ground. Anyway, something really does smell fishy here.

SS agents throwing furniture creating a scene when their job is to work behind the scenes and to be invisible.. this just doesn’t make sense.. an advance team literally telling the everyone in the heart of Drug Cartel Central … “hey the POTUS is coming and we are setting it up” I did some VIP trips as Air Crew… everything(Security) even at the level of an Admiral was tight in a foriegn country.. something smells fishy…

If I am correct with my memory it has only been changed twice since my copy that was signed by Nixon. Once while I was still in the service, and this most recent change. If I am wrong on this, please post a correction here. I would really like to see any other changes that I am not aware of.

Yeah, when I was trying to think of the Articles, the Secret Service and their particular problem and the Military’s problem caused me to forget what I originally wrote about and blurted “Adultry” out of confusion between the “separate” probs of both parties… when I just mean’t to refer to the Art. 134. part for the troops. We’re on the same sheet of music though in the end.
When you been outa’ the game for a bit like us, all the minutia of the UCMJ is quickly forgotten, lol. Retired myself (32yrs and a wake-up or so… total Service time, CSM/E-9, Army). Have not been Retired quite as long as you though. Thanks for your Service Brother!
