Is Your Kid an Alcoholic? Study Says Your Teen May At Least Think Like One

According a new study by The Partnership at DrugFree.org, nearly half of all teens think that consuming five or more alcoholic beverages on a near-daily basis is no big deal–or, “nbd” as these teens would say.
The AP reports:
Downing five or more alcoholic drinks nearly every day isn‘t seen as a big problem for many of the nation’s teens, says a new report.
When asked if they see “great risk” in drinking that much, almost half the teens questioned — 45 percent — didn’t see it as a big deal.
The study being released Wednesday by The Partnership at Drugfree.org also showed upward trends in marijuana and Ecstasy use among young people in grades 9 through 12.
“You‘re seeing this weakness in this generation of teens’ attitudes around drug and alcohol use,” says Steve Pasierb, president of the partnership. “It‘s not like this generation of kids thinks they’re more bulletproof than others, but they really don’t see any harm in that heavy drinking.”
Among teens, the average age when they had their first drink was 14, the study said.
Overall, 68 percent said they had consumed alcohol. Of those, one quarter of teens had their first drink at age 12 or younger…
Gregg Aguero of Houston, Texas, says he started drinking regularly at 13 after his parents split up. That led to cocaine and other drugs and eventually landed him in rehab for several stays.
Now 22 and in college, Aguero says he’s been sober for 4 months and is trying to help teenagers avoid the mistakes he made.
“It’s never too late,” he tells them. “That’s the most important thing. It’s never too late to turn and get help.”

Posted on April 7, 2011 at 12:47amGET READY AMERICA! This is all part of the propaganda that will be coming your way. Remember when Palosi said “we will have to wait to see what is in” obamacare? Guess what. This is it! (or at least a big part of it!) The entire act is filled with unlimited “research”. “Research” including psycho, social, bio, physio, etc “research” is authorized with NO OVERSIGHT… AND NO PROTECTIONS. Forget about voluntary, informed consent. The health care act is all about taking complete control of the “adult formation” of kids in this country (and yes, destroying the health care system). You will see more and more research that will give justification for all sorts of controls and actions to be carried out by the government, “for your own good, dont ya know”. One of the major things that Sebalius has authorized is mandatory annual psychological exams on ALL kids (to address “problems” before they become problems — minority report for kids). Conveniently, there are going to be “medical homes” in all schools so your kids can get tested and appropriate “help” while they are at school. Start paying attention to this new flood of research that will be surfacing. (Already there is some “out there” that says parents are responsible for kids being overweight…and kids that are overweight don’t get good treatment from their parents.) Look at who is doing the research, how the research was carried out, how many were involved, etc. Look to see if it is truly legitimate research or if it is just pushing an agenda that will further empower the government to take away our freedoms. I encourage everyone to ‘QUESTION WITH BOLDNESS ANY AND ALL RESEARCH” AND LOOK BEHIND THE CURTAIN TO SEE WHAT IT IS REALLY ALL ABOUT!

Deutscher:
It is all in the health care act and in material that is put out by the HHS dept. I am away from my files until this Saturday, but will on the weekend pull more information together and post it for you here for you to take a look at. To me there are three very frightening aspects to the health care act: first, it is not at all about health care but it is about the entire collapse of the health care system. Second, it is ALL about indoctrination of kids and taking kids from parents…the state is given total authority for the complete formation of a child. Third, it is ALL about research. And it is research without any oversight and complete lack of transparency.
Oh, and there is a fourth thing. Obamacare CAN NOT BE DEFUNDED. The plan that has been implemented is so perfect in it’s deviousness that it is actually almost to be admired. The health care act does not stand in isolation of the other acts that were passed last year. Each one is entwined with the other. The education act, the food safety act, the social worker reinvestment act, the early child education act (which incidently is no longer Pre K – third….the “P” is now “prenatal”. They claim that education needs to start “prenatal” in order to have kids successfully compete in a “global economy”), the child nutrition act…etc. etc. etc.
With respect to research….it is everywhere throughout the whole act. And I do mean EVERYWHERE! (key words are used that perhaps only those in the field would recognize… key into words like: “evidenced based practice”…. that is “research based” practice.) In the meantime, until I repost with “source” information, take a look at the Hippa Form from your hospital, and probably your doctor’s office has you sign now. . Read your NEW HIPPA form. It does not say the same as it used to say. It used to say that your information was private and that no one had permission to get access to your information without your permission…that is except the government…if they thought it was in the national interest. Now the forms say….that all medical information will be converted to computer records and will be completely private….except as determined by law…. that leaves it really wide open….because the Health Care Act says that the Director of the Health and Human Services now has access to that information and has the authority to share it with whomever s/he wants to share it with for what ever purpose they want to share it for.
This Act is loaded with federal authorization for government initiated medical “research”. While I know that quality research is important to quality care, this Act authorizes the government to collect all sorts of information about a person (personal, financial, occupational, lifestyle, medical history and medical test results) and establish a central data bank of that information. This information can then to be used to establish “trends” in health care (trends are important) but then goes too far when it also grants the Secretary the authority to share medical/personal information to whomever s/he may designate for “additional research” purposes. One example of this license for government research is found in the following statement from the Act:
`(3) AVAILABILITY OF DATA- The Secretary may make data described in (a) and (b) available for additional research, analyses, and dissemination to other Federal agencies, non-governmental entities, and the public, in accordance with any Federal agency’s data user agreements.
While there is a small safeguard in saying that information collected would not be allowed to “adversely affect any individual”, where are the safeguards to prevent that from happening? I could find none.
`(d) Limitations on Use of Data- Nothing in this section shall be construed to permit the use of information collected under this section in a manner that would adversely affect any individual.
When it comes to research, I know hospitals and other research entities take ethical responsibilities of health research very seriously. The Belmont Report, the Declaration of Helsinki, and the ethical guidelines for medical research as established by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Science all recognize and protect the rights of research subjects with respect to “informed consent” as it relates to medical research. The “research” clauses of this law make no such guarantee (and again, this Act is loaded with “research” clauses). Information collected on individuals, ipsofacto, becomes the property of the Federal government to pass on to whom ever the Secretary wishes to give the information to for what ever purpose the government may decide. There is great danger here for a significant violation of ethical standards of medical research long held sacred by the medical profession…standards that government doesn’t acknowledge in the Act. There is nothing about “voluntary participation” or “informed consent” with respect to participation in “research” in this law…at least, none that I could find.
Again…regarding research….
DNA is already collected on every child born in the United States. Each state has a statute of limitations on how long that information is kept and for what purpose. The Feds have access to that information thru the health care act for what ever purpose they want and may share that information with whomever they want….just something to think about…. …here’s a web site you may want to explore: http://www.cchfreedom.org/pr/pr240610.php
another web site on child DNA: http://www.bobbarr.org/default.asp?pt=newsdescr&RI=1168
Here is information from the health care act that talks about the government’s role in your child’s development. This is only one place. Now while the concept of offering parents support to meet the needs of children is, in theory a good concept, especially when individual parents are in need of additional support. The problem is that this Act goes too far. I refer you to Section 2953 of the law:
FROM THE HEALTH CARE ACT…
SEC. 2953. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY EDUCATION.
`SEC. 513. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY EDUCATION.
`(b) Purpose-
`(1) IN GENERAL- The purpose of an allotment under subsection (a)(1) to a State is to enable the State (or, in the case of grants made under subsection (a)(4)(B), to enable a local organization or entity) to carry out personal responsibility education programs consistent with this subsection.
`(2) PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS-
`(A) IN GENERAL- In this section, the term `personal responsibility education program’ means a program that is designed to educate adolescents on–
`(i) both abstinence and contraception for the prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS, consistent with the requirements of subparagraph (B); and
`(ii) at least 3 of the adulthood preparation subjects described in subparagraph (C).
`(B) REQUIREMENTS- The requirements of this subparagraph are the following:
`(i) The program replicates evidence-based effective programs or substantially incorporates elements of effective programs that have been proven on the basis of rigorous scientific research to change behavior, which means delaying sexual activity, increasing condom or contraceptive use for sexually active youth, or reducing pregnancy among youth.
`(ii) The program is medically-accurate and complete.
`(iii) The program includes activities to educate youth who are sexually active regarding responsible sexual behavior with respect to both abstinence and the use of contraception.
`(iv) The program places substantial emphasis on both abstinence and contraception for the prevention of pregnancy among youth and sexually transmitted infections.
`(v) The program provides age-appropriate information and activities.
`(vi) The information and activities carried out under the program are provided in the cultural context that is most appropriate for individuals in the particular population group to which they are directed.
`(C) ADULTHOOD PREPARATION SUBJECTS- The adulthood preparation subjects described in this subparagraph are the following:
`(i) Healthy relationships, such as positive self-esteem and relationship dynamics, friendships, dating, romantic involvement, marriage, and family interactions.
`(ii) Adolescent development, such as the development of healthy attitudes and values about adolescent growth and development, body image, racial and ethnic diversity, and other related subjects.
`(iii) Financial literacy.
`(iv) Parent-child communication.
`(v) Educational and career success, such as developing skills for employment preparation, job seeking, independent living, financial self-sufficiency, and workplace productivity.
`(vi) Healthy life skills, such as goal-setting, decision making, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, and stress management.
“Adult Preparation” as defined in this law belongs in the domain of parents and church. This section of the law potentially violates a parent’s constitutional right of freedom of religion without government interference. It is not the “state’s” nor federal government’s place to impose government established teachings on families or children. Children, as of yet, do not belong to the “state”.
I will get back to you with information about the “medical homes”.

Posted on April 7, 2011 at 4:46amp.s. I know that section from the act on Adult formation initially looks complicated…but look at it very carefully. Read it very carefully. It even says that the government will teach your child how to communicate with you , the parent… The government will teach your child about their own sexual identities… and “responsible sexual behavior”. (That responsible sexual behavior clause…that sort of covers indoctrination for pro abortion laws in the future….even if abortion is defunded…. the gov has the authority to teach your kids that it is ok… and so in a few years when they are voting, they can vote for pro abortion funding.)

We have a saying — You can’t BS a BS-er. I was held responsible for what I did while drinking, and that helped me. I didn’t have anyone to get me out of jams. It‘s important to realize when someone is enabling and when they’re caring. Do not enable! The drunk or user is like the director of a play — everyone in his life has a role to play. Stop playing the role expected of you, and don’t be conned back onto the stage.

You weren’t emotionally abused by a mother, either, I’d guess. You weren’t made to feel second best, second choice or second class. It dawned on me one day that I didn‘t cause my mother’s baggage, and I was every bit as good as anyone else! Besides, my daddy loved me and was proud of the feisty little girl he’d fathered. He had 24 years sobriety when he died.
I don’t regret my past or wish to shut the door on it. I am a GRATEFUL recovering alcoholic. I just wonder sometimes what I would be like if I had never ever taken the first drink!
