Islamic Leaders Plan Pro-NYPD Rally in Support of Secret Anti-Terror Surveillance

It’s been a tough few weeks for the New York City Police Department (NYPD), as critics have charged authorities with unfairly targeting Muslim populations. While surveillance activities have been dubbed as discriminatory by some who believe the police department has gone to far, a unique rally will take place this morning in support of the NYPD’s tactics.

Muslim groups have heavily criticized the department and politicians charged with overseeing its operations after The Associated Press reported that the NYPD had been secretly monitoring Muslims across the Northeast following the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

On Monday morning, Muslim leaders from the American Islamic Leadership Coalition (AILC) will come together in support of officers’ tactics to target extremism in their community.

WNYW-TV has more about the group’s plans to assemble:

The rally, which is expected to start at 10 a.m. ET, will include representatives from more than 20 Muslim organizations, activists and Congressman Peter King (R-NY), who serves as the chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security.

King, who has been a major NYPD supporter and a chief ally among those leading the fight against Islamic extremism, had made his opinion clear on the matter.

“The threat right now is Islamist terrorism — and that’s going to be coming from the Muslim community, it’s just a fact,” he said. “Just like the mafia came from the Italian community, and the Russian mob is coming from the Russian community.”

On its web site, the AILC is promoting the rally and explaining why, despite criticism among many individuals in the Muslim community, its members are supporting the NYPD (read the entire press release):

Since the 2007 release of its Intelligence Division’s landmark report, “Radicalization in the West: The Homegrown Threat,” the NYPD has come under a systematic and coordinated assault by highly-politicized Islamist organizations and their enablers, intent on dismantling the NYPD’s successful counter-terrorism and counter-radicalization programs. These groups would prefer to see American Muslims shackled to a mindset of victimization, and thus alienated from American society at large, rather than confront the very real issues we face in our communities, including the threat of extremist ideology. [...]

It is important to note that published NYPD documents clearly and appropriately distinguish between the religion of Islam, and the highly politicized ideology of hatred, supremacy and violence characteristic of political Islam (i.e., “Islamism”), and especially the subset thereof known as “jihadi Salafism.” [...]

In light of the swirling controversy over the New York Police Department’s counter-terrorism and counter-radicalization practices, we feel it is our civic, moral and religious duty to publicly address a number of issues raised by this controversy.

Muslim Leaders Plan Pro NYPD, Anti Terror Rally in New York City“To our knowledge, no NYPD counter-terrorism cases have given rise to departmental abuses of power,” the release continues, concluding with a reiteration of support for the department’s “courageous” efforts to protect the city.

While the AILC is praising these actions, CAIR has been railing against the NYPD’s surveillance tactics. In addition to post-9/11 anti-terror measures, some of the angst being displayed by CAIR, among other groups, stems from allegations that the NYPD showed “The Third Jihad,” a film about radical Islam, to nearly 1,500 police officers during training (the department did eventually admit that the documentary was shown in the lobby of a training building). The Blaze extensively covered this issue in January.

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, the narrator of the film, is also expected to speak at today’s rally. ”We feel the NYPD has been taking a lot of unfair hits,” he said, referring to the reason for today’s pro-NYPD gathering.

This showing of support is the community’s first real stance for the NYPD and its counter-terror efforts.

Mayor Bloomberg is the head of a financial news empire. There is a paper trail any cub reporter could follow leading to those who used their precise knowledge of the impending 9/11 attacks as insider information on Wall Street. These profiteers bought options rather than prevent death and destruction and deserve to be exposed, not shielded. Identifying those who by their silence are complicit in these ignominious attacks which caused his city and our country so much pain and suffering should be the mayor‘s raison d’etre. Loyalty is a bygone notion for the NYPD. The department is tilting at windmills spying on Muslims while showing no interest in those in its jurisdiction directly connected to the attacks. Its fallen officers, the NYFD, and those who died in the two wars fomented by the attacks are dishonored by the department’s continued acquiescence to a policy protecting those whose actions are steeped in treason and covered in shame.

I know so many Muslims that have nothing but contempt for their extremist cousins, but somehow they don’t bring themselves forward. I visited am Imam not so long ago and he shook my female hand, in fact he offered. He didn’t seem disgusted in the least. But truth be told, I don’t know what this means.

It’s past time that Muslim Americans come out against jihad and terrorism. Let’s hope this is genuine. I continue to hold out the possibility that some Muslims have come to America to escape Sharia law and other constraints of radical Islam. They would not be the first immigrants seeking religious freedom. Sadly, because they tend to congregate with other Muslims, they probably don’t get the freedom they were seeking. Hopefully, this gesture will open a dialogue.

      It is hudna.

The muslims know we are beginning to reveal their deceptions and they will now seek to calm us down.

Keep them calm. Do not startle the herd (America).

Yes, IT IS A DECEPTION. The friend of enemy is my friend????????
Jihad is the same thing as extreme menacing and illegal threats. They are DECLARING WAR ON SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. They have been known to say what they mean and do what they say, so anyone who advocates Jihad in the USA, SHOULD BE EXPORTED, EXCOMMUNICATED, CONSIDERED A CRIMINAL, FROM THE USA. send them back to Iran, Afghanistan, or anywhere they want EXCEPT AMERICA OR ANY AMERICAN AREAS.

It is time to stop these extremists. THEY ARE EXTREMISTS, EVIL POSSESSED BY SATAN, EXTREMISTS.

Every muslim in America is already being tracked and observed. Or at least they should function under that assumption. Pleading with the NYPD to swallow more Islamic lies will not work.

If anything this can be used by law enforcement as an opportunity to see taqiyya, dawa, and obsequious hudna as the muslims desperately try to quiet us down, calm our churning guts, and get us to question our resolve…while the Jihad proceeds unabated.

Treating Islamic Jihad as a crime is just about the most uninformed position to take.

Applying various modifiers to the activity only furthers the cause of the muslims. It is Jihad.

Jihad is not seen as criminal by the muslims. Jihad is the mechanical process by which Islam is spread. It is the holy obligation of all muslims.

      Trivisanno:
I am not sure if you are JUST AN IDIOT, or are mocking someone/something. But, no matter which it is, IT IS NOT RIGHT TO SAY SO IN THIS COUNTRY. When an organization or people declare an action AGAINST America or its allies, IT IS TIME FOR AMERICA TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THEM.
WHY? Because it will prevent chaos, discontent and division among the people of the USA. If you remember your history at all, one of dearly beloved Presidents (founding fathers, don’t remember which one), went after those Islamic pirates who attacked America ships in the 1700s. It is time we continued that practice, not just out in our seas, BUT HERE IN AMERICA. Wait until they declare Jihad, sweep them up and send them overseas, revoking their citizenship and passport. PERIOD.
No witchhunt, just wait until they THREATEN SOMEONE OR OUR COUNTRY. Since America wants to be so POLITICALLY CORRECT ALL THE TIME, make THIS PART OF THE HATE SPEECH LAW. What do you think? Of course, you will probably make some excuse as to why this is wrong, but since the liberals decided the HATE SPEECH LAWS, let’s give them of their own pie.

You are about 1,400 years too late.

Allah was enshrined in Mecca 1,400 years ago. Jihad for Planet Earth was declared shortly thereafter.

And we non-muslims have been hunted and slaughtered on the altar of that alien god ever since.

1,400 years of deception is quite enough.

That’s the Muslim way: they smile, cooperate…until they grow your numbers:
-1/30/09 Timesonline UK: Muslim population growth between 2004 and 2008 was ten times greater than the rest of society.
-2/09 The Finnish Ministry of Defense published a position paper saying: In 1991 there were 300 mosques in Russia. Today there are 8,000, financed by Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
-8/8/09 Daily Telegraph, London: Europe’s Muslim population has more than doubled in the past 30 years and will have doubled again by 2015.
-10/28/10, Daily Mail: Mohamed or derivatives of that name is now the number one name in all of England.
-7/5/11 Daily Mail, London: Islamic extremists have called on British Muslims to establish three independent states within the UK.

When Muslims have suffient strength in numbers they start civil wars: Google search “civil wars in the world” then research each individual civil war and you will find one common combatant in 90% of them: Muslim extremists. Muslims are involved in civil wars in China, Russia, Bosnia, Cyprus, Macedonia, Israel, Pakistan, India, Indonesia-Ambon & Halmarhera, Côte d’Ivoire, Kashmir, Kosovo, Kurdistan, Kirghizia, Nigeria, Philippines, Somalia, Turkey, Chechnya, Sudan, Yemen, Thailand, Uganda, Azerbaijan and East Timor. They fight against all religions and culture — have done since Mohamed lived.

The modifiers we in the West place upon the various methods of Jihad are to our own detriment.

No matter what we do, Islamic Jihad will never be seen by muslims as a criminal act. How can following in the path of their warlord prophet, Mohammed, ever be considered a criminal act by adherents?

If anything, this will be seen as an opportunity to feel out the NYPD, to see if their are opportunities for the muslim community to insert deceptions into the language, recruit sympathizers, and plant jihadis into the hierarchy.

Western people must begin to understand the civilizational threat posed by Islamic Jihad. Their thinking and methods, and their cultural values are not those of Western Civilization. We apply our values to them at our own peril.
