Israel: Airstrikes Kill Two Bomb Planting Palestinian Militants Along Gaza Border

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli forces killed two Palestinian militants Sunday along the Gaza-Israel border, where a sudden surge in violence has weakened an unofficial truce in place since Israel’s bruising 2009 war there.

The Israeli military said it launched an airstrike after spotting two men trying to plant an explosive device along the frontier, where soldiers patrol. The Islamic Jihad militant group said two of its members died in a clash with Israeli ground troops. There was no way to immediately reconcile the two accounts.

The border area has been calm for the most part since Israel invaded Gaza in December 2008 to try to stop years of Palestinian rocket fire on southern Israel, killing more than 1,400 Palestinians — including more than 900 civilians — and destroying large sections of the territory.

But violence flared several weeks ago, and on Saturday, Gaza‘s militant Hamas rulers warned they would escalate hostilities against Israel if tensions didn’t subside.

Israel holds Hamas responsible for all attacks coming out of Gaza, though much of the rocket fire has been carried out by more radical splinter groups. But they all share a common rejection of Israel’s right to exist and oppose efforts by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to win a Palestinian state through negotiations with Israel.

Those negotiations ran aground several months ago over Israeli settlement construction. Palestinian leaders, skeptical of ever negotiating a deal with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, say they are pursuing alternatives. Their main fallback strategy is seeking recognition from as many countries as possible of a Palestinian state in territories Israel captured in 1967.

On Sunday, Israeli Cabinet Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer warned that if Israel doesn’t enter into peace talks with the Palestinians, then “the whole world” is likely to recognize a sovereign Palestinian state — a development Israel would not welcome.

“Within a year, we will find ourselves in a situation where the whole world — and I wouldn’t be surprised if even the United States — would support a Palestinian state,” he said.

Ben-Eliezer belongs to the Labor Party, which is more moderate than Netanyahu’s Likud Party.

Over the past two decades, more than 100 countries have recognized an independent Palestinian state, including a string of Latin American countries in the past few weeks.

But major players in the world of Mideast mediation, like the U.S. and the European Union, have not done so, saying a state should emerge from negotiations, not unilateral actions. If Israel were to lose crucial U.S. support for a negotiated accord, that would severely weaken Israel’s ability to influence the terms of Palestinian statehood.

Talks broke down three weeks after they began with the expiration of a 10-month moratorium on new settlement construction in the West Bank.

The Palestinians say the settlements, built on territories Israel captured in 1967, are gobbling up lands they want for a future state. But Israel has refused to curb building.

After failing to break the stalemate, Washington abandoned efforts to restart the direct talks and has begun a new round of mediated talks instead.

The fate of east Jerusalem, home to important Jewish, Muslim and Christian shrines, lies at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israel has cemented its presence there by building Jewish neighborhoods that are home to 200,000 settlers. Some 2,000 other settlers live in the heart of Arab neighborhoods.

A Palestinian who has led protests against the presence of the Jewish settlers in his east Jerusalem neighborhood said Sunday that Israel had ordered him to leave the city for four months by late afternoon.

Adnan Gheith, local leader of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement, said Israel had rejected his appeal of an expulsion order issued earlier this year.

His lawyer, Rami Othman, said he plans to appeal the case to Israel’s Supreme Court before the 5 p.m. deadline expires.

The expulsion order seems to be part of a wider Israeli crackdown on opponents of its policies toward the Palestinians.

But this case is exceptional because the military is invoking an obscure emergency regulation to expel a Jerusalemite from the city. The law dates back to British rule before Israel was established and hasn’t been used for decades.

    I like they guy with the red face scarf….Easy target for a good Israli or American sniper. Turn it blood red after it is peneatrated by a well placed round. Gotta love that religion of peace. Can anyone say interment for middle eastern muslims in the U.S.? I can, might be a good idea. Kill two birds with one stone. They can be interred along the south western boarder, and while we stand watch over them, no one crosses the southern boarder without getting shot.

    The Jewish people can be a haughty and arrogant people for the most part.I believe that is why God chose them as a people to show his mercy. Never the less the American people have become the same with their rejection of God just the same.The land is Isreals and the Palestinian people live as dogs and animals against all those around them.The land is the Inhertance from the Lord to the Isreali people.Though arrogant at times they will come to repentance.The Muslims will NEVER come to repentance.They have proven that they can not live peacably.They should be driven out.They have no more right to the land than Mexicans have right to Arizona .Actually less.

      As a Jewish person I think “the jewish people” have needed to develop a certain “je ne sais qua” to counteract 2000 + years of people trying to eradicate us out of existence…..
      I do agree about the Arizona thing, actually I was thinking that if we simply returned California to the Mexicans it might help alleviate some of the border & illegal alien problems……yeah right.
      The “Palestinians” will never be happy until Israel ceases to exist, which will never happen.

    It is so encouraging to hear of two jihadists martyred up to a blissful eternity. Full employment for 144 virgins. Where do all the virgins come from? Are they Muslims or infidels? Does it mean that the martyrs have unlimited replenishment of 72 virgins or do they have to keep the used virgins forever? Can they recycle the virgins? Can the martyrs use more than one virgin at a time? Do the virgins have parents or brothers or sisters? This martyrdom issue is complex. Is there a Mullah in the house?

    Palestine will never recognize Israel as a country. That is a give me. If Israel does relinquish and grants the Palestinians a state. They will just want more and more until they force Israel out. I am glad that they found and eliminated the threat. The only good terrorist is a dead one.

      I believe that Israel should take all of the land that God Promised to Jacob… Which, conveniently enough, God also changed Jacobs name to “Israel”. I am 100% convinced that if Israel decided to take it all back, God would Make it happen. I say, Israel, Set those dirty terrorists on their heels and make them RUN for their LIVES!!!!       Which is pretty darned ironic, since Palestine has historically never been a nation, but a region. There has never been a Palestinian language, culture, nationality or race. The name ‘Palestine’ was given to that region of Israel by a Roman general as in insult to Jews, “Palestine‘ actually being the word Romans used for ’Philistines’. It was a put-down of Jews as uneducated unwashed rabble. Calling Palestine a nation or state is a bit like calling the Great Basin or the Eastern Seaboard a nation or state. It isn’t and never has been.

      I’ve long held that if every Jew on earth moved to Ohio, Arabs would suddenly declare Columbus as their ‘holy city’.

In reality the Jihadists are the best liars, and so the gullible liberals always take their side against Israel. Israel should never have given them Gaza just as they shouldn’t give them the west Bank or parts of Jerusalem.

      The Islamic Jihad needs to be met head-on with a good old-fashioned “CRUSADE” of the Christian kind! How can a holy war ever be stopped if it’s not even acknowledged as such? As long as there is a Muslim religion, there will be Muslim terrorists. Is there such a thing as a peaceful Muslim that is willing to die by stopping a terrorist Muslim from killing a non-Muslim? Honestly, with the way the US is going I’m beginning to wonder if the Muslims may have it right and the rest of us are wrong.       Dr. Henery M. Morris states in his book, The Genesis Record, that some (scholars) maintain that Nachash originally meant upright shining creature. This would give a whole new perspective to the “serpent”.

      Lucifer the snake is said to be subtler that all the other creatures created by God. In other words, subtle means intelligence applied in a crafty or manipulative manner. This certainly is not talking about the reptile we know as a snake.

      The Hebrew, “al gachown yalak” for upon the belly and life can actually mean, “from above a reptile (as a superior form) from the issue of the fetus as its source yet being outside the belly, you will continue on in your material life. Only in modern times could this scripture be understood for what it might imply. A superior reptilian form that carries on life outside of normal reproduction can be by the means of cloning!

      The serpent is an upright shinning creature. This fits perfectly with what we know as Reptilians today.

      The serpent is more intelligent than man in a crafty manipulative way and has been restricted from reproduction of both man and animals.

      They would reproduce as a superior reptilian form but as outside the normal reproductive manner.

      The serpent would eat “dust” to sustain in this form. Former Investigator John Leer claims that they eat the genetic make-up of mankind. We know that the aliens, in particular the Reptilians are cannibals and prey upon mankind to eat them. The Greys soak in solution made of human body parts to keep their skin color, but it is not known that the greys actually eat humans, however the Reptilians and Anuk do.

      . The Book of Enoch states that the fallen angels are, “withered and the silence of their mouths perpetual” Grey’s are said to only speak telepathically with a thin frail frame and they look withered.

      This is truly an amazing line up of characteristics that perfectly fit a description of the Grays, Reptilians, and the serpent of the Bible! Because they are one in the same!

      I’m not going to get into how the whole apple and tree scenario was figurative language for a sexual encounter between Lucifer and Eve, I’ve done that in previous articles, but here the Lord pronounces judgment that their would be enmity between the two seedlines and that through Eve He would defeat him. How? Through Eve’s seed the Son of God would become incarnate and redeem mankind.

      As the angels of heaven looked upon mankind beginning to fill the earth they began to lust after them. According to Enoch 200 Angelic leaders, with tens of thousands under them, left heaven to come to earth to procreate with human women. And Satan used their lust to try and completely corrupt and destroy all of mankind’s seed so that there would be no pure seed left for the incarnate Son of God to be born through. He almost succeeded, in fact he was only 8 men away from succeeding but through Noah and the line of Seth a pure seedline remained and continued after the flood.

      Satan still hasn’t stopped scheming. In fact he thinks he can avoid God’s coming judgment altogether by changing our linear dimension into an eternal one. This is what the New Agers call a dimensional shift. And that is why they are pushing for such a thing, they think they can create it and escape the final judgment. However, they will fail miserably and they will all stand in judgment before the Son of God.

      These events are coming. Joel 2 and Revelation 9 have yet to be fulfilled. It isn’t time to be sitting on the fence. If you’re on the fence get off of it, if you haven’t made a choice to serve Jesus/Yahushua and acknowledge Him as your Saviour, you won’t always have time to do so. He will shut the door of opportunity and at that point NOONE will be able to change their mind and then decide to serve and walk in Him. It will be too late.
