Israeli Minister of Defense Claims Obama Is Doing ‘More’ for Israeli Security Than Any Other U.S. President

President Barack Obama has frequently faced criticisms from Republicans who believe that he isn’t defending Israel with the fervency that other U.S. presidents have embraced. In fact, conservative Jews have called Obama a “train wreck” and a “con man” in the past. Despite widespread criticism — especially following the president’s past call for Israel to return to its 1967 borders — Israeli Minister of Defense Ehud Barak has nothing negative to say about the U.S. leader.

Quite the opposite, Barak praised Obama, telling CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, “I should tell you honestly that this administration under President Obama is doing, in regard to our security more than anything that I can remember in the past.”
Blitzer seemed somewhat taken aback by the assessment that Obama is the most supportive in the history of relations between the U.S. and Israel. Naturally, he pressed Barak to clarify and reiterate his statement. CNN explains:
Pressed if the Obama administration has been the most supportive ever, throughout history of U.S.-Israeli relations, Barak affirmed, saying that from his recollection of President Carter forward – “the defense relation between Israel and the United States are extremely stable and good.”
Barak continued, “It doesn’t mean that we agree on everything, it’s very well known that differences between our government and the American administration about peace process about other issues, but I believe that in regard to world turmoil, in regard to Hezbollah, in regard to what happens in Syria, in regard to Iran, we basically – basically agree on the diagnosis. We don’t agree on the prognosis on some of the issues.”
In addition to offering accolades to the president, Barak also said that he sees support from both sides of the political aisle in America.
“From my point of view as defense minister [US-Israeli relations] are extremely good, extremely deep and profound,” he told Blitzer. “I can see long years of both sides of the political aisle deeply supporting the state of Israeli and I believe that reflects a profound feeling among the American people.”

Posted on July 31, 2012 at 10:03amThe only sane middle eastern policy is to pull out. We cannot fix the Muslims. We have been bankrupting ourselves for nothing. If Israel was attacked, we should help them. Not with land units and occupation but with air and naval power. We cannot and shouldnt not be in Syria. Iran does nothing more than sabre rattling. If Iran had the missile tech and a bomb Israel would have already hit them.
The best foreign policy we can have with Israel is we quit giving them and their enemies money. We pull out of the region outside of a few naval and air bases. Finally we pull out of the Israel hating UN. If they need us, we will always be there. But if we go bankrupt chasing Muslim boogie men around in each Muslim nation we will be bankrupt and Israel will be on its own.

Posted on July 31, 2012 at 10:57amIsrael does not get cash from the U.S. Israel receives low-interest loans and loan guarantees.
The coujtry uses these guarantees to buy defense materials from largely U.S. private sector firms.
Israel is a great customer – she pays her bills, with interest on time.
Defense and related industries constitutes 20% of the U.S. economy.
Be careful; be accurate, about judging U.S. aid to Israel and or others – the U.S. usually ends up on the better side of any deal with foreign countries. Germany and Japan both paid the U.S. billions for placing troops on their soil during the occupations and cold war. That’s right, THEY paid US, not the other way around.

That’s just proof that President Eisenhower was right:
“This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”

Posted on July 31, 2012 at 8:32amIndeed, interesting bit of trivia that answers the question of his comment…
Ehud Barak is a member of the Israeli Labor Party; and combines with many socialist and marxist groups of Israel. Hence he agrees that Obama is actually working strongly with Israel along the lines of their shared Marxists and Socialist ideology.
There is the link – a common, radical, utterly failed ideology.

Exactly. Ehud Barak is a match with Obama for his ideology on the lines of Marxism and Socialism; even with his service in the IDF, this shows why he is supportive of Obama, in claiming that our POTUS has done more for Israel than any other President.
What I wonder now is if Obama is providing financial support for the various Socialist groups pressing for uprisings and civil protests across Israel?

Posted on July 31, 2012 at 9:01amThat’s actually not encouraging to know that a high ranking Israeli official is a socialist and they have so much influence on us. I’m actually concerned their racist immigration policy has left them vulnerable to a large number of eastern European athiest Marxists moving there and influencing their state. I don’t know that this is what is happening, but it is not outside the realm of possibility. To know this is a possibility and so many, at least on this site, will unconditionally stand with them because of a couple of passages in a religous text I don’t believe in… But you know me, live and let live and mind our own business, and leave us alone is what I’d prefer.
