JERUSALEM (The Blaze/AP) — On Monday, a heated debate in Israel’s parliament ended up with one member deliberately pouring water into a glass, which she then tossed in her colleague’s face. The ethics committee of Israel’s parliament has now suspended the lawmaker for her actions.
During the outburst, Anastassia Michaeli threw water on colleague Raleb Majadale after he told her to shut up. Dripping wet, he chuckled and called her “crazy” as she stormed out of the room.
Watch the footage of the scene:
The incident occurred during a debate over whether an Arab-Israeli school had the right to take its students to a Tel Aviv human rights march.
Haaretz (via Globe Post) reported some of the dialog leading up to the dousing:
“You are marching against the state,” Michaeli shouted at Majadele, who answered back, “Shut up.” He then added, “She won’t shut me up. This is not Yisrael Beiteinu. Fascism will not be allowed to take over the house.” Michaeli replied, “It is disrespectful to the status of women in the Knesset. We will discuss the matter in the Ethics Committee.”
Michaeli is a member of the ultranationalist Yisrael Beitenu party, while Majadale is an Arab lawmaker with the centrist Labor Party.
The committee ruled Tuesday that Michaeli will not be allowed to participate in plenary or committee discussions for a month. She will be allowed to vote.

Very few women can contain the emotion required to be a politician. If you let your emotions get to you at the level this woman did, you can’t be a successful politician.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 10:01amCan you just imagine what would be said about a man, if he had thrown water and a tantrum? Women want to be “equal”, but just can’t take it. By the way, I am a woman, and I know that “being just like a man”, isn’t possible. Women’s lib, is a farce.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 1:28pmOh so true…if it were just an’ un-emotional man’…he would have just ‘spit’ or ‘punched’ him and then the whole room would have burst out in to a brawl…seen this happen too many times in the news from ‘around the world’…Yea sure, no emotions involved there. (sarcasm)
Women can and do still get the job done even if they have ‘emotions’.
Throwing a glass of water is a womans way of still maintaining a level of respect by Not Spitting (or punching).
I’m Not a liberal feminist – I am 100% conservative female with traditional Christian values. Just get kinda’ tired of this waa-waa, ‘women are too emotional to handle certain jobs,’ cr@p. …Stepping down off my soapbox now.

SONDOGGIE, I agree 100% Women cannot be like men…and shouldn’t…and WHY (!?) would we want to be?!!?!!? Torks me out of shape when I see movies where they portray the female as tough as a Rambo type man…makes me sick….God made us, Man and Woman…Male and Female under His Plan. I like His Plan just as it is. Problem is the Human race keeps screwing it up.

I know, they are also used by little children who just farted, but in this case it is a devious instigating manipulator who won the argument.
BTW, Politicians could also be defined as devious instigating manipulators.
(Stepping up on your soapbox now)
To quote you, “Just get kinda’ tired of this waa-waa, ‘women are too emotional to handle certain jobs,’ cr@p. …”
You seem to have gotten a little emotional; take a deep breath while I break down the trap you just fell for in my original post.
FIRST: “Very few women can contain the emotion required to be a politician.”
1. It is a true statement.
2. I left out the other side of the statement which would read, “Very few men can contain the emotion required to be a politician,” which would also be true.
3. It set up the next sentence to make it appear that it was a one sex sided statement.
SECOND: “If you let your emotions get to you at the level this woman did, you can’t be a successful politician.”
1. It is a true statement.
2. It was written for either a male or female to be able to read it correctly.
3. You being female allowed yourself to read into it, and thus allow for an emotional response.
Also, I don’t understand why you got down off your soapbox but decided to keep going, it made it more difficult to hear you.

Posted on January 12, 2012 at 10:28amI hope you understand this was all just to try and get someone to laugh while realizing what is said (types in this case) and what is implied. Politicians do this all the time; bating people into responses when you are not even really bating them is a great means of winning an argument.
Personally, I was hoping to get a guy trying to stick up for women’s rights, but I hope you can look at this and laugh.
I enjoyed the bonding moment you had with SONDOGGIE, and the sarcasm was my favorite. (Honestly, I’m a huge fan of sarcasm.)
Before I step down off your soapbox, I wanted to let you know one thing, but I hope this doesn’t sound too egotistical:
I won‘t hate you if I’m now your favorite poster on theblaze.
I am an American who’s a 100% conservative male with traditional Christian values for the record.

Just remember, as Israel goes, so goes America. No matter what we may or may not do, God has a plan for the nation of Israel and on on that tiny plot of land. And God will make it happen. As a nation, we will be well served to understand what God is doing in that region and be on His side.

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 8:29amIRAN’s democratically elected government was OVERTHROWN by the USA for OIL..
Back in 1951, a freely elected government of Iran decided to nationalize their oil fields. The US and UK “Big Oil” would have no such thing and lobbied our government to overthrow the Democratic Iranian gov.
After economic sanctions failed, with the help of the CIA, the brutal regime of the SHAH of IRAN was imposed on the Iranian people In 1953 until 1979, when the SHAH was overthrown by an Anti-USA Revolution.
This is what Dr. Ron Paul and the CIA mean by Blow back. We created Iran. We as a People as so much better than this.
