PARIS (AP/The Blaze) — France’s Socialist government wants to raise €7.2 billion ($9 billion) in new revenue from higher taxes on estates, banks, and oil companies to try to reduce the deficit.

The measures are among those in a revised 2012 budget draft presented at a Cabinet meeting Wednesday. It will go to parliament later this month, where it is expected to win approval.

France’s new leadership has criticized austerity measures imposed around Europe, saying they are making the region’s debt crisis worse. It has focused on higher taxes for the “well-off,” though some spending cuts are also expected.
Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, speaking at a Fourth of July event at the U.S. Embassy, warned that Europe’s debt crisis “has not been extinguished” and that it’s not a “problem of the Europeans alone.”
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Posted on July 5, 2012 at 12:00amExactly who did the Russians have to tax. The only rich people in Russia before the demise of the Soviet Block were black market mafia members and government officials.
I personally will find it amusing standing in line to get toilet paper and a loaf of bread. I’ll be the one holding the sign, “I told you so.”
The elitist who wish to rule us will give us only what we will need for survival. They don’t like the fact that we are glutonous and live with excesses in a very comfortable world.
So comfortable that peope with entitlements have cell phones and big screen televisions.
It’s difficult to convince these people, they would be better off in an economy that would require them to work 40 hours a week for the same status. Afterall they have all that extra time to sale illegal drugs and guns to make more money they don’t claim for Uncle Sam. Least we forget the all the other illegal endeavors they participate in to subsidize their life of leisure.
The die has been cast. The progressive socialist have dumbed down the last generation, over run our country with people who believe the American dream starts with entitlements. They have subjegated the MSM and turned it into the propaganda machine of the new socialist regime.
We have but one chance to stop the destruction of our Republic. It begins in November and it is a battle that we will have to wage for eternity.

So why not double the tax rate increase and get $18 billion?
Here’s my prediction: Not one dollar (Euro) will be used to reduce the deficit.
Almost nothing will be raised, because the money will flee France.
France will find themselves without wealth, and with even more spending programs.
I hope they put these programs in place NOW so we can all see their success.

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 8:32pmThe following will be simplistic, but points one in the right direction for clarity.
“Austerity” is being thrown out there as either good or bad, depending on your beliefs, but there is no austerity going on.
Europe is in trouble. They are starting to rotate (Greece, Spain now, and Italy recently having to buy bad paper) thru the PIIGS nations. The ECB has only certain deep pockets. Germany’s (the strongest financially solvent nation in the EU) populus is starting to uprise against all the bailouts they are supporting. Merkel can do only so much. France’s election is a statement against supporting all the bailouts. One reason they the voted in Hollande, a full commie.
The problems with the EU nations are just being pushed down the road and there is nothing going on to correct the direction of collapse. Greece’s newly elected government will not last. All they want is more money from the EU and have already defaulted on the monies they have received. The EU is trying to do everything they can to hold it together, but their bottom line is one Europe, controlled fiscally by the EU. This was the original intent when the Euro was introduced. A “Federal” Europe. EU Controlled banks seem to be what is in play currently.
But it will be interesting to see if Greece is forced out soon. There are dominos in play, and if the USA stays away fron them we should weather the storm, but not without some damage at home.

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 10:06pmOne may look at the issue of debth in a bit different way as well.
Report Post »There is so much mony in the debth pile, that regardless how much an entire nation makes, cannot pay it off. Period.
Now you can toss your nation into powerty, or realize that this money that a nation owes, is the creation of the central banks. It does not exists as realy value. What it actually is may suprize you:
it represents the way a society is organized, the economical relationships, and the wealth distribution.
The more debth one nation has, the more it is exposed to the Central Banks, which generate and distribute this money with the help of the political elite. Do not forget, there is always a balance sheet. Te debth on your side is welth ready for investment and purchasing power on the other side. This creates a kind of slavery, but it has power over a nation untill it respects the rules of the game: some have the power to create money and force a Nation to accept that money.
If you decided not to play the game, the debth can be wiped out. Puff, it goes away.
maybe the French will try this route. For that, getting a truckload of new debth is a good thing. The may win some time to prepare for the next phase, in whichthe debth will be wiped out by a stroke of pen, or by a short hyperinflation followed by creating new banks that hold the new money, issued by the state, not by the central banks…
however, if the debth game contiinues, the French will become slaves. Period.

In fact, so did Germany, which was taken proclaimed, litterally by shouting out a window, to suddenly be Socialist, and subsequently became Nazi Germany (with Nazi being the Nationalsozialist, the older equivelant of today‘s liberal worker’s unions, in a way).
And of course, a dictator, Socialist, what ever despotic “-ist”, that take over, end up killing off many of the people who supported them to power. The question is, is it creating enough jobs to keep up with the demand for jobs. If you look at it that way, Texas is ranked like 24th. Not too well.
There isn’t a single state that should be used as a model. Different states have different good ideas. For example, take a look at North Dakota. The created a state bank that gives out good loans to small business when private credit freezes up or becomes too costly. This has really worked well for them and probably would work well in other states as well.

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 7:20pmJust remember before Europe began to go down the tubes, Obummer was always saying that the US had to be more like Europe, especially France. Not only the wealthy, but all taxpayers should be watching closely and paying attention to the meaning behind the words, “fair share.”
Report Post »OT–a bit, but a close parallel. While many were focused on the Supreme Court and the kabuki theater that is Washington, there were a few little things going on that seem innocent, but when you add them together, you ask really. First, Moneyprinter-in-Chief Bernanke announced that our largest creditor, China, would be given priority access to purchase treasury bonds, but would still have to inform the govt when they wanted to sell. Second, Lil Timmy Geithner authorized the Bank of China aka the Chinese government to purchase a small bank in the country. Third, Lennar Homes and the Treasure Island(former Navy Base in SF Bay) Redevelopment Authority(where Pelousy’s son and son-in-law work) are negotiating with the Bank of China for a loan for the redevelopment.

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 8:07pmThey rich are not on our side. They do not want to “create jobs”, they want to make money. And regardless of the propaganda being pumped out by the corporate media, the rich making money often doesn’t equate with Americans getting good jobs. The rich are shipping our jobs overseas or cutting our wages and benefits to be competitive with prison labor in China. They are gutting the regulatory aparatus that prevents them from dumping lead into our air and toxic chemicals into our water. In China, the baby formula is toxic. Everybody there knows that they are feeding chemicals to their babies when they feed them. They hillsides are covered with industrial waster leading to very high levels of cancer. That is what the rich want to bring to America. Any moral person CANNOT allow this!
Stop defending our slave masters and start standing up for the middle class.

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 8:27pmquarando, the government does not create jobs, they spend tax collections on salaries. It is wealth redistribution, NOT wealth creation. The only rich people who are anti jobs are the democratic members of congress, who are worth collective billions in wealth, yet, create zero jobs. Fail

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 9:39pmOf course the government creates jobs. It employs like 30 million people. It could hire a million next week if it wanted to. Take a look at China, it is not a Capitalist country by any stretch of the imagination. The Chinese government still owns more than 80% of the economy. The run it as a command economy, the government hires people creating millions of jobs at will. About 40% of the US’s GDP is currently based on technology developed by the government.
Anybody telling you government doesn’t create jobs is lying to you. It is completely obvious that the government can and does create jobs. Certainly we can debate how much government involvement is healthy for long term growth and sustainability, but anybody that actually understands anything about the economy realize the government plays a crucial role in funding basic R&D and creating and maintaining stable markets. It isn’t a black hole just sucking productivity and capital out of the economy.

Exactly who do think creates jobs, the government? Those aren’t jobs, those are positions made up by the government to suck the wealth from the middle class. The middle class exist because of the rich, those jobs in middle management created by the rich owners of businesses is all that stand between the American worker and serfdom.
The government doesn’t create jobs, they fill position to run the government, very poorly.
Without capitalism nothing changes, there will still be 3 classes of people: serfs, government officials, and those who rule.

Posted on July 5, 2012 at 12:48amExactly, RebelPatriot. Also, how does the government pay for these jobs that they created??? With our tax dollars, DUH! Quarando, how idiotic is it to think that the govt creating jobs would fix things. How do you think the govt is going to pay the wages, and not to mention, the ridiculously bloated pensions that are often attached to govt jobs? And please tell me you‘re not glorifying China’s job creation capabilities…I don’t think we want to go there.

Posted on July 5, 2012 at 12:51amQuarando,
You don’t understand capitalism. The rich will not invest money when the government is not providing for a favorable time to expand their business. Shareholders don’t care if businesses hire or fire people, what they care about is their net return on their investment.
Why would a business spend millions of dollars to expand and get no return on their investments due to government regulations, taxation and fuel prices that are not static.
In capitalism it takes all those things for businesses to grow or for rich people to start new businesses, but the shackles of the progressives are ready to be placed on the free and the brave and you worry about rich people because you are envious of their wealth.
Not very Christian of you. The socialist and communist don’t care if you have a job, they just want control.

But this is not by accident- the elite know that the current chaos will ultimately bring down the entire system so they can implement total control – this is the end game. They want everyone to be in a continual state state of immorality and dependence- which leads to the defilement of the body and eventual destruction of the soul. WAKE UP
