‘It’s Just Heartbreaking’: Mother Hid 32-Pound 10-Year-Old in Urine-Soaked Closet

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (The Blaze/AP) — A Kansas City woman is scheduled to appear in court after police found her 10-year-old daughter weighing just 32 pounds and locked in a closet that reeked of urine.

To put the child’s weight into perspective, the the average height for a 10-year-old is 54 inches with a corresponding average weight of 72 pounds, according to Live Strong.

Police freed the girl Friday in response to a call from a child abuse hotline. The child has been hospitalized, but her condition hasn’t been released.

The Jackson County prosecutor’s office says the 29-year-old mother, Jacole N. Prince, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on charges of assault, child abuse and endangerment. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer.

A probable cause statement says the mother told police she didn’t let the girl leave the house because the child is malnourished and that she would “get in trouble if someone saw her.”

The local Fox affiliate reports neighbors saying they hadn’t even realized Prince had another daughter and referenced suspicious activity:

“Every time we do go to Jacole’s house, we would knock on the door, tell her to come out, see what she’s doing,” said Peaches Burrell, neighbor. “She wouldn’t open the door all the way. She would come out and shut the door behind her.”

“Knowing that I lived in the middle of where the little girl was — it’s just heartbreaking,” Burrell said.

Neighbors wonder why Prince’ boyfriend, Marcus Benson, has not been charged. They claim Benson was at the apartment often visiting his two daughters he fathered with Prince and he should’ve known something was going on.

“He was always over here, took showers and baths, ironed, all that, so how come he didn’t know?” Burrell said.

In an earlier story by Fox, neighbor Kimberly Kelly described Prince as quiet and said her two other children, who she knew of, were clean and “seemed to have fun.”

The girl, who is referenced in documents as “LP” according to Fox, told police she didn’t get to eat every day. She also told police she does not want to go back home.

    She looks like the goalie for the MalcolmX dart team. Seriously though; What can society actually do with people like this? She will be defended by a publicly paid lawyer and will be out living on the dole, breeding as many as she can, long b4 her children regain their health, if ever. Lot of good suggestions here, but bleeding hearts will intervene.

      Obviously on welfare, collecting for all the children she has. And the child welfare official never once asked to see the children in person? I was told years ago, these HHS people will do anything to keep their jobs, even ignoring the obvious of never seeing all the children they are responsible for. The more people on welfare, the longer their job is secure. This is what we get.

    Maybe the father of the 8 and 2 year old is the person who called CPS, and that‘s why he wasn’t arrested. Also, he was probably worried about his own two daughters.

    Lord, please bless this poor child, and be by her side, whether You decide to take her home, or return her to full health. Not even the lowliest of beasts deserves treatment like this.

    Anyone that can do this to a child, deserves their fate. I can only hope that there is still a special place in Hell, for evil people like this mother.

      As mentioned, even in the animal world, the mothers take better care of their babies than this mother did. Her brain was fried on the dope she bought with welfare payment and the income for each illegitimate child, then hiding it in the closet to put it out of sight and out of mind.

    (1) The child is an embarrassment to the mother, because of some form of incontinence issue. She also reminds the mother of her ex, who is also an embarrassment.

    (2) The child is also a barrier to boyfriends, and a possible future marriage.

    (3) So she keeps the child locked away rather than suffer embarrassment, or lose the chance with some other guy.

    (4) Keeping the child locked away gets easier and easier as time goes on, and as the unloved and uncared for child’s condition worsens, the mother fears being found out and punished, so the situation becomes permanent.

    (5) The mother just wishes this “mistake” would just go away, so that she can get on with her life.

    So God, who heard the painful lonely cry of an unloved child gave the mother her wish, and took the “mistake” away…along with her boyfriend, her other children, her home, and all of her responsiblities.

    Now with no responsibilities to her children, no bills to pay, home to manage, or the pressure to find and marry the right man; the mother can finally get on with her life in a new home made of concrete and steel. She can now enjoy new and empowering relationships with women who think just like her.

    God is Just!

Take a look, again, at you rhistory books and read what the democratic party did to Rutherford B. Hayes and the Reconstruction and the Freedman’s Bureau. Then fast forward and see what one of the most infamous racists of all time, Lyndon Johnson, did with the “Great Society”. If only the Reconstruction had been allowed to continue, there would have been no Jim Crow Laws, and everything horrible which followed.     I wonder how many of us currently live next door to similar situations and we are not aware? Good chance for the liberals to call for more laws to allow government interference into private lives OR chance for us Christians to wake up to be more in tune with the Holy Spirit so we will know how and when we need to act even when there seems to be no physical evidence. God can prompt us but we have to be responsive. We are responsible for our actions and for our in-actions. People do horrible things to each other, and in the middle of it they have justified why they have reason to do so. While this woman needs to be punished, she also needed to get and be helped a long time ago and no one noticed or no one cared enough to act for her or with her. A huge void or fault I see is that in addition to the physical and intellectual knowledge we have we don’t trust God enough to believe his spirit can tell us things that man cannot see and that spirit will always guide us in the right direction if we will choose his light.

      Solitary confinement with no toilet or bread and water. Make sure it is dark too! Bet she gets a commissary account though. All the snickers she can eat. Life will not be good for her in jail.     The father of this child should be charged as well for at least neglect because it is his responsibility to make sure his children are well. The courts who are letting fathers slide by because they are ot there are doing a diservice to the children. The fathers are abandoning and neglecting their children without a second thought. They should be made to see and know the children are ok or be charged with the same neglect. This is ridiclous to let him slide on this. He needs, as well as this sorry woman to be jailed for many years for their crimes. The father of this child should e jailed as well for his neglect. His child should have had both parents to see she was being treated properly.

    I hate human garbage that abuse children and animals. I hate them. They need to be treated exactly like they treated the children or animals that they had charge over. This slut needs to be put in a closet with no lights and no bathroom facilities and locked in there for 15 years. She should be fed through a small hole in the door.
