‘It’s Money We Don’t Have, But Money We‘re Committed to Spend’: Sen. Sessions Reveals ‘Obamacare’ Creates $17 Trillion in Unfunded Financial Obligations

Before the passage of the Affordable Care Act (i.e. “Obamacare”), unfunded obligations for federal health programs totaled $65 trillion over a 75-year period, according to the office of U.S. Senate Budget Committee ranking member Jeff Sessions (R-AL).
But now Senate Budget Committee estimates (based on the Obama Administration’s own numbers as well as those from the Congressional Budget Office) show “unfunded obligations” have increased by $17 trillion, to $82 trillion since “Obamacare” passed in 2010.
“Added to the government’s existing obligation for entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, the total now comes to almost $100 trillion,” the Washington Free Beacon’s Andrew Stiles writes.
“That is almost seven times the United States’ annual gross domestic product (GDP),” Stiles adds.
“It’s money we don’t have, but money we’re committed to spend,” Sen. Sessions said on Thursday, “it must be removed from the books.”

“It is this kind of long-term, unfunded obligation that has placed this nation’s financial situation at such great risk,” the Senator said. “We don’t have the money. We don’t have another $17 trillion in unfunded liabilities that we can add to our account. We have to reduce the ones that we have.”
In 2009, President Obama’s then-OMB Director, Peter Orszag, stated the following:
To my fellow budget hawks in this room and in the rest of the country, let me be very clear: Health care reform is entitlement reform. The path to fiscal responsibility must run directly through health care.
“But despite this emphatic statement, the nation’s unfunded liabilities — money we must spend but for which there is no source of funds set aside — increased from $65 trillion to $82 trillion since the health law was passed,” the BudgetGOP YouTube page reads.

That number all together (counting interest) suppose to be 30% of the budget. Our interest payments alone for 2011 was $454,393,280,417.03 i doubt the military spending is reposible for half of the interest payements wer. The bulk of the interest payments are unfunded liabilities like SS, medicare and medicaid. Lets not forget the massive bailouts as well.
To sit here and say cutting the military will fix it is a lie even if every program is cut in half according to those numbers its only 600B. The goverment collected 2.3 T in revenue spent 3.6 trillion. Cutting the defense in half leave 3T spent and 700B deficit. That require increasing revenue by 30-31% which seems to be what people like you are advacting. Do you want to see every tax go up by 30-31% are kidding me.

We are setting our fiscal and moral house in order so we can tell the Fed Gov’t where to go. There is a reason why our State is ranked fiscally high in the list. We are taking great pains to be able to nulify whatever the Fed tries to impose by setting our state budget in such a way as not to depend upon fed “money”.

There were slaves that received better treatment than the “poor whites.” Historically poor whites were used for the most dangerous jobs because if they died, it didn’t cost a slave owner money. A morale owner based the treatment of their slaves from biblical teachings. FYI- I’m not condoning slavery. Also, don’t forget indentured servitude (basically white slaves) was widespread in the North. What about the Irish in the North? The Chinese in the West? The only reason the South is currently portrayed as racist is not because of the people who live here now, it is the people who have never stepped foot in the South passing judgement based on past events and distorted history books, not current culture. FYI-Zimmerman is a hispanic/white person, but to the country he’s white. Obama is a white/black person(raised by white people), but to the country he’s black.
