‘It’s Not a Pretty Sight’: Santorum on Shirtless Paparazzi Photo

Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum appeared on the Steve Cochran show in Chicago today, and was asked questions relating not just to the economy, or to his campaign, but also to…what he looks like shirtless? Listen to the clip regarding Santorum’s surprise shirtless sunbathing photo below:
When Santorum is asked about the photo, he jokes, “I should probably lose about 15 or 20 pounds,” and adds later in the exchange, “I‘m sure it’s not a pretty sight.” The host quips that Santorum should feel proud for being over 50 and still willing to take his shirt off in public.
The question comes after a guest on an all-gay cruise snapped a covert photo of Santorum sunbathing in Puerto Rico, which immediately became the headline of the Drudge Report today after it was featured on the site Buzzfeed. This is the photo:
Is Santorum as out-of-shape as all that, or is he just being modest?

Posted on March 16, 2012 at 10:59pmI honestly don’t understand women who think Obama is “all that.” Meh!
But who cares? Not the reason to elect a president–by his looks. But people do this with all “celebs” – take pictures of them just about anywhere they can. Comes with the territory, I guess.

Posted on March 17, 2012 at 2:56amLet’s look at this. Guy on a gay cruise snaps a picture of Santorum with his shirt off. The guy on the gay cruise must be a Democrat and thought he could somehow make hay of this, or, he was just a guy on a gay cruise snapping pictures of people sunbathing. Either one is a little bit sick.

Posted on March 17, 2012 at 5:11amWhy is this being reported? If we, as a nation, want less elitist people to run for office – i.e. the common man or woman – we need to stop scrutinizing appearance in this manner. Most of us know at least one extraordinary individual who has what it takes to make a difference. Yet, when this person is asked about running for office, often the reason they decline is because they and their family don’t want to face this kind of negative publicity. At this point, I don’t care what the president looks like as long as he understands what it is like to be a regular person in America. I am not interested in voting for a person who came from a rich family. Rich people don’t understand the hardship regular people face on a daily basis. Often, the elite Republicans are trying to entice us to embrace Chris Christie. Even w/o seeing the photo, we all understand he would not be flattered by a bathing suit picture. I don’t need or want a sexy president, I want a president who was a raised to be a good American who cares about the country more than his own career.

Posted on March 17, 2012 at 11:11amThat is a great looking photo of Senator Santorum in repose, he certainly lost some of that extra weight he used to carry. That choice of khaki short for swim trunk and running shoes for sandals is exceptional and add to his ultra manly yet boyish demeanor. What a captivating charismatic leader!
There is no way such an important politician should have to be accountable for a little playful downtime. He is allowed to be refreshingly relaxed, and deserves a PAC-funded resort vacation as much as anyone. Anyone who takes this article seriously is focused on the wrong aspects of governance!

Oh, was that insensitive?
If you look at the real soldiers, for example, they are not Adonis-like. Normal guys. Warriors are not showboaters. Obama, he’s all show and no go. A clown.
No, of course, if you’re black, 90% of you will defend Obama no matter what. Why? Because you haven’t grown up and become real Americans yet. You vote based on race, not on substance. That is the hallmark of child-mind. No different than voting for someone based on how they dress or wear their hair.
So, back to Rick. Who cares what he looks like? And I am not a fan either. I am probably Ron, Mitt, Rick and Newt on GOP side.
Obama, of course, is not even a consideration. A youngster (can’t say boy, that would be racist) in a man’s job.

“Rick Santorum has marketed himself as the ”real” conservative in the race. But as John Hinderaker points out, Santorum‘s lifetime American Conservative Union rating doesn’t support his contention. Santorum’s lifetime rating was an 88.1 (as of 2006, his last year in the Senate). That puts him among the more moderate half of Republican senators at the time — and to the left of Lindsay Graham, John Sunnunu, Elizabeth Dole and Trent Lott.”
