Posted on March 14, 2011 at 9:35pm1964, I was 8 years old in Anchorage, Alaska. We lived in a community known as “Turnagian by the sea”. My two brothers and two sisters were watching cartoons when the earth began shake. We heard our Daddy shout “Everybody, to me, TO ME NOW!” The house was bouncing up and down so violently that we could not stand or or walk, we cralled over to Daddy. After a few seconds the quake got stronger…”LET’S MOVE!” Daddy shouted (Daddy was an Air Force Master Sargent). We followed him on all fours out of the house. Outside, we saw the ground rippled like waves on the ocean. Cracks opening and snapping shut. The house we had just left fell into a crack and was swallowed by the earth. Mommy,Daddy and us laid down on the lawn and watched large chunks of “Turnagain By The Sea” bounce away and become “Turnagian IN The Sea”. Rated 9.2!
47 years later you can go to Earth Quake Park (formerly know as ‘Turnagian By The Sea”) and see the devastation. Not much ruble and debris, but big chunks of land marching into the Cook Inlet.
“ATTITUDE DETERMINES ALTITUDE”
This old aviators axiom works when applied to to life as well as flying!

Why did the destruction within Japan happen? It can be explained scientifically but where is God in this? When asking why or how this could happen, the answer usually comes with assigning a human trait or quality to God. It is hard to get beyond doing that. We must stop thinking of God as a “large human being”. If God could have done something but chose not to, what does that say about him? Is God all powerful? If the answer is yes, then the reality is that he has power over nothing because nothing else he created wields any power. Instead, think of how God’s power works in relationship with his creation. God chose to give free will to all of his creation and because of this, disasters will occur. Jesus tells us that God causes the sun and rain to fall on both the just and the unjust and goes on to say that our response must be to love everybody, including our enemies. Evidence of God’s power is shown in how we care for the victims so our responsibility is to do exactly that. Help in any way that we are able.
Report Post »I doubt that you will ever read this but you putting God in the middle of this is very bad. God is all powerful. God didn’t give us knowledge of good and evil. That was done by Eve in the garden when the serpent seduced her into believing a lie. But for you to expect that the creator of everything can’t do anything. Read the Bible more thoroughly and you will find that since He created everything He can also choose to do nothing if He so chooses.
As for freewill, if we have freewill, so shouldn’t He also have it. To save someone or to let them perish. But we can only see they small portion of what we know. Since God knows everything then He knows the full plan that He has setup. So don’t question God in this or any other accident or anything. just accept the fact that He is all knowing and this fits His plan.

Posted on March 14, 2011 at 2:57pmWhy is everyone so quick to blame God? Anyone ever hear of Satan?? This is not the world God intended when he created it. It was to be a perfect world. But when sin was introduced to the world, that changed everything. Sin must now run its course. God has to allow these things we face in life in order to show Satan’s hand & how glorious God’s world will be when His time comes. There’s too much involved to put here, but, trust in the Lord, study His word–His truth will shine! He doesn’t want these things like this to happen, but these are things that must come to pass. God is not to blame. He will be there to comfort those who come to him for comfort.

#2- Faith is something that makes us human. If you choose to not have faith in God then who are you to tell someone else they shouldn’t either. The Constitution allows us the Freedom OF Religion not Freedom from it. If you are not interested in reading a prayer that someone wanted to convey then by all means skip it as no one is forcing you to read it, but just because you do not believe does not give you the right to infringe on someon else’s right to believe in whatever they want.

Posted on March 14, 2011 at 8:35pmI can understand why some here have an issue with the religous tone that we find here, and on Glen’s show. I remember an old high school friend who, found the Lord, and prayed over me. I recoiled –felt uncomfortable.
I always keep my prayers very personal (I even wait for my wife to be asleep) and try very hard to not be selfish when I pray!
In this case, I want to ‘publically’ offer mine:
FATHER!!! –LORD!!! –GOD!!! Please grant peace to those that have lost the loved-ones that you’ve taken into your arms. Please have mercy on those that you’ve taken. Please forgive me of my sins, as well!
I ask this, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Blood He shed on the Cross for sinners, like me!
~AMEN~

Both of our major coast lines are vulnerable to similar total destruction. It is not a matter of “if, but more a matter of “when”. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Posted on March 14, 2011 at 3:13pmBeersnob, I feel for you, but God did allow it to happen so you must ask yourself why. Start with every person is going to die, it is a matter of how and when. When people ask Jesus about the people who died when a wall fell on them, his response was something like this, “Do not imagine, that these were the worst sinners in all of Galilee. They weren’t, but repent or the same thing may befall you.” The purpose of these tragedies are to remind us of our mortality and give us a chance to repent. We are at a unique time, almost all of the religions are pointing toward an end time. The Muslims are expecting the 12th imam, Protestants are always expecting the end of the world, the Catholic seers in Medgegore say that a time of great chastisment is coming upon the earth, and the new agers believe the Mayan prophecy. From God’s point of view, is it better to let some people die in dramatic fashion and go to their reward or punishment as their lives dictated, and have others who would have gone to hell repent, or to let those Japanese people die ordinary deaths of cancer or car accidents and go to the same reward or punishment that they are receiving now?
Report Post »To me the drama, speaks to the urgency of our need to get our lives in order. Unlike Hollywood, God doesn‘t do drama for drama’s sake. Jesus said, the end times would come on like labor pains. As a mother, I can tell you they start small and infrequent and just keep building and strengthening.
I am sorry that you do not understand God‘s method’s, but the time is urgent and He has people’s souls to save before their final judgement.
