Jar Jar Binks in Tehran? Iran Caught Using Photoshopped Missile Image

News editors at Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency have been caught using a Photoshopped image to depict the country’s missile program.
How do we know?
For starters, it’s pretty unlikely Jar Jar Binks has suddenly taken up residence in Tehran.
The Atlantic Wire spotted something amiss in the photo for a news item about the country’s missile program Friday. A little Internet digging turned up the image, which first appeared on the Internet in 2008 after Iran was caught digitally tampering with an image of its missile tests.
During that time, a number of clever news watchers produced a series of prank versions of the Iran missile launch like this one and this one, which transformed the embarrassing episode into a funny Internet meme. Humorously, it appears Iran is now using images from the meme it created to depict its own missile program. Even more humorously, it appears the Photoshopped image MNA picked includes a photo of loathed Star Wars prequel character Jar Jar Binks.

Posted on May 6, 2012 at 2:58pmRemove Jar jar and look closely at the missile exhausts; a lot of them are identical. For example, the one leaving the ground heading left is a duplicate of the one heading right one missile over at a ninety degree angle. Additionally, if this is an supposed to be an actual Iranian missile test, it appears to have some minor flaws, such as the INCOMING missiles, one of which appears to come out of nowhere as the exhaust begins in the middle of the sky.

All power and communications would be permanently disabled. Refrigeration, transportation, water, heat, A/C, TV and internet, everything we rely on to survive, all gone in a snap.

You have to have long-term presence not only to secure sensitive sites, but to put down the resistance. Otherwise, you end up with a worse regime than what you started with.

First, we don’t know with any certainty that Iran has an ICBM that can reach the U.S. Like North Korea, just because they say they do doesn’t make it true. Regarding needing an occupation, like Iraq and Afghanistan, is unnecessary. A preemptive strike, not just at the nuclear facilities, but at the infrastructure as well, would ensure the lack of any meaningful response. Yes, the Israelis would be vulnerable to some sort of attack, but that’s likely at some point anyway and Israel appears to have accepted that reality. Lastly, the idea that Iran’s military is as powerful as everyone assumed it is is likely unwarranted. All of the Arabian countries are capable of murdering civilians within their borders but frankly, they don’t fight really well. I offer Iraq (or Syria, Egypt, Libya, etc) and Iran who fought Iraq to a military draw after EIGHT YEARS killing about a half million troops and civilians from 1980 until1988. Now, considering that the Iraqi military was so inept when faced with a truly trained military TWICE in 1990 and 2003, and Saddam Hussein’s bombastic claims were proven to be just that, bombastic, frankly, I‘m unconcerned about Iran’s ability to even repel the Israeli military. Iran, like North Korea, are “paper tigers” and we give them more attention than we should. That said, we should remove Iran’s nuclear program, just as Israel did in Syria WITH NO SYRIAN RESPONSE, makes my point, I think.

Has worked fine for 236 years. If we stay on the current course, not only will we never return to prosperity, we will lose our freedom. Factionalism is fine for bars and family bar-b-ques but I believe with all my red blooded American heart we are in deep kimshee if we let the Soros’ of the world have their way. Gotta pull together to stop the madness.
