This happened a few days ago but Mediaite is just bringing it to light:
A few people have asked us why no one’s written about this jaw-droppingly awkward interaction between American Morning co-anchors John Roberts and Kiran Chetry last week.
After some searching, we found what they were talking about. Wednesday morning, right before Roberts was set to interview David Axelrod, he sternly reprimanded her for some off-screen distraction.
The unanswered question — what the heck was Kiran Chetry doing that was so distracting that John Roberts couldn’t handle it?

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 11:08pmNow, that’s a thought….good reason for the all of a “sudden” urge. So unprofessional though. I have never seen that happen before. It is sort of weird how many people think it has nothing to do with anything. Amazing….

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 6:53pmI love Glenn, but this “news” site is becoming increasingly sensationalistic. That was hardly a “scolding” let alone “jaw-dropping.”
If this nonsense keeps up, I’m going to have to write off The Blaze as a failed experiment. Maybe I need to email Glenn directly and express my concerns. All this does is give the left ammo to “prove” how conservatives blow things out of proportion. I was hoping this site would take a common sense, fair and balanced approach to things, but this kind of exaggeration is just pettiness.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 11:18pmHi Soulsearcher:
You must remember the word; “subtlety”…..what did she do that warranted that? Someone with no reply had mentioned (Plunderpower) etiquette, and said she was rude. How was she rude? What did she do? Did you notice the little smirk that Axelrod gave the reporter?
Report Post »I can not think of anything that would have warranted that. Can you? He was rude for doing it in my opinion, unless there was a reason at that “particular” time.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 6:45pmHe asked politely, but he shouldn’t have done it on live tv. It was unprofessional and I’m sure it embarrassed her to be berated on national tv.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 7:16pm@GW76 Apparently you didn‘t read about WHY she’s no longer with Fox. She was fired. According to the reports I read, in 2007 she was nearing the end of her contract and was in re-negotiations. Fox intended to re-up her contract until they read the new details of her contract. Fox said that she had a clause in her new contract that would be detrimental to another talent (allegedly a clause to fire Gretchen Carlson according to Fox). Chetry‘s agent alleges that the contract didn’t say the wanted to have anyone fired. They allegedly wanted clarity of Chetry’s position (if she’d stay on Fox & Friends). Fox told her that they were not renewing her contract and that she could leave at any time.
That’s how she ended up on CNN.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 1:49amThanks Jeetman, I hadn’t heard any of that. Nothing against Gretchen, but I’d sure rather spend my mornings with Kiran than her. I‘m sure there’s probably lots more to the story than even this, stuff we’ll never know. I just wish she’d come back, cuz I can’t stand to watch CNN, even with her on it.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 7:04pmEither many of you have never held a job that paid well and involved professional courtesy. In case you don’t know it, you can be canned for being disrespectful and insubordinate…which is what lacking professional etiquette is. She was rude. In the background you can hear the noise…twice. If she cannot follow professional ethics, with a live mic, it is news.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 7:20pmHey now, I’ve been keeping an eye on things, and this Scott Baker fellow has been *exceedingly* productive. He posts stories at 2:00am, and he posts a boatload every day.
He gives us all *something* to respond to all the time, around the clock, and as near as I can tell more than any of the other guys…..who also provide a lot, I’m just saying.
I’m inclined to be quite tolerant to Scott Baker in his selections.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 6:56pmYea, polite enough. I am no John King fan and rarely ever watch CNN, but we don’t know what Kiran was doing. Maybe she was banging away at her keyboard and it was so loud to him he knew he was about to blow his interview (even if the viewer could not hear it) … don’t know, but he was not so out of line that he needs a headline-grilling. I’m sure though he and Kiran discussed the problem during the commercial, and I’d like to think he apologized to her.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 10:43pmPolite? He certainly could have waited for Axelrod to begin answering his question, at which point the producer could have muted the mics, allowing him to ask in a more professional manner. I suppose you are numb to this type of boorish behavior because it’s so prevalent in our society today. This was unprofessional, immature, and illustrative of the type of person this man must be. This was an intentional effort to make her look bad. But with public discourse continuing to move toward the gutter, I guess it’s not a surprise.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 1:54amHe sounded a little petulant and childish. As a professional, he surely understands that things aren’t always perfect when you do your job. If he was reporting at a ball game, would he ask the crowd to shush, HE’s talking? Maybe, but that would be wrong also. Grow up John or get another job. And apologize to Chetry.

Lacking professional etiquette is deemed disrespectful and in some caes insubordinate. Some aspects of professional etiquette are well known to those needing to keep them in mind. They are simply understood. If you would like to receive it, you need to follow it yourself. In terms of professional etiquette, she was rude.
