Jay Carney Scolds Press Over Obama‘s ’Doing Fine’ Remark: ‘Do Your Jobs’

White House press secretary Jay Carney said he couldn‘t promise the Obama campaign won’t exploit out-of-context quotes from Mitt Romney the way Republicans, a reporter said, seized on President Barack Obama’s remark that the private sector is “doing fine.”
“That’s a rather remarkable question,” Carney said during Monday’s press briefing, saying he wouldn’t “speculate” on future campaign strategy for something that hadn’t happened yet. Asked about the president’s comment, which he later clarified, Carney said the remark should have been taken in the context of his “rather full discussion on the state of the economy.”
“Certainly, we believe that you all ought to do your jobs and report on content,” Carney said. “Our general position is we’re for truthful, factual, accurate reporting that’s done in context.”

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 3:18pmSALVAWHORAY. we really know what happens when they start to lay off cops, firemen, and teachers.
Report Post »They are the easiest to pick on and have the biggest impact on the communities from whom their services are removed. While it would make sense to us to lay off the multiple overlaps of various obscure supervisory positions, of whom likely make 6 to 10 more income than any of the other positions mentioned above. Better yet, do away altogether with those redundant yet highly paid offices. That would be too efficient of course, and those ‘do nothing’ jobs belong to in house political fund raisers. The loss of these jobs would make no impact on the community at large. Just those in charge.

Here Here!!!!! Now we’re talkin!
What we need to do is REGULATE Polititians. What Polititans cannot do.
If we do that, and cut their pay, (also to where they cannot legaly recieve stocks from buisnesses) and they cannot bring in any outside money while they are serving…and make their wages so small, so many of these fools up their wouldn’t even want to stay…
… and term limits!!!!

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 3:30pmI can add some more to that, the administration thinks public jobs are real jobs, they are not real jobs as they are only expenses. Public jobs make no money they only add to the cost of doing business. That definition has been lost somewhere since the founders put this package together. Our problem is income has gone down and overhead has gone up, violates every economics rule known to man.

Everytime you buy a new Apple I-phone or I-pad a person in China gets paid. You buy a New Porshe and a person in Germany gets paid, etc. We used to make GM cars in Oklahoma City but the folks voted for right to work and the union made GM shut it down and sent those jobs to Mexico.

Are you serious? What about saying…….. Our position is……
Let me translate. Generally, we take a position that supports truth, facts, and accuracy in reporting that is done in context. However, there are exceptions. Especially, when the truth does not work in our favor. In that case, we take the general position that supports covering it up, lying, deceiving, ignoring, and falsifying information.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 3:37pmThe awesome thing is, Romney‘s ads on the subject put Obama’s statement in full context:
“The private sector is doing fine. The economy is bad because” there is not enough government spending.
Obama clarified that point later as: “The economy is bad because” there is not enough government spending. The private sector is doing fine – look at their profits, those evil profits. Those 1%’ers (don’t look at me) are earning profits and that’s bad.
In any case, Romney is NOT taking Obama out-of-context.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 8:11pmJan-Feb 09 might have been at 8.0 using that “expectation to report fairly and in context” (translation, tell the people what I tell you to tell them). Obama has played with the numbers his entire presidency, but done nothing effective at all. Note that the economic figures are issued over exaggerated every reporting period with the prime time news, then adjusted to lower values over the weekend when they knew no one was watching or paying attention. By doing so, the next period’s exaggerated numbers looked even better because they were compared to the over -lowered values of the adjustments. All politicians play with the numbers – Obama is a master at it. Truth be known – the REAL unemployment has likely not been below 10% (probably more like never lower than 15%) his entire presidency. Ask any TRUE economist. Don’t simply tell me what is posted on the White House web site.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 2:44pmI hope the carny is paid well for lying.
The only context where business is doing fine is one where Obama has been thrown out of office.
Obama has stopped counting the unemployed so I guess he figures 16% general unemployment, 50% unemployment among college new grads and 50% unemployment in the inner cities is not a problem.
Just a bunch of teachers who got laid off? What a load of crap. Teachers have done better than the general population, but Obama will fight for any american as long as they are in one of his unions.
Report Post »Zipit
Posted on June 11, 2012 at 3:15pmI guess that “shared responsibility” does not apply in this case. I can almost guarantee that nowhere near 16% of the teachers, fire fighters, policemen, and public sector union members (a basic list of Obama contributors), have lost their job, as has happened in the private sector! The definition of fairness has a much different meaning to the American left! We lose our jobs, they keep theirs, and they will do whatever they can to force us to pony up the extra cash to keep it that way…..
