Jeb Bush Backs Mitt Romney for President: ‘Now Is the Time for Republicans to Unite’

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Wednesday endorsed Mitt Romney’s bid for president, following Romney’s primary win in Illinois the night before.
In a statement, Bush said “now is the time for Republicans to unite” behind the former Massachusetts governor.
“Congratulations to Governor Mitt Romney on his win last night and to all the candidates for a hard fought, thoughtful debate and primary season,” Bush said, according to ABC News. “Primary elections have been held in thirty-four states, and now is the time for Republicans to unite behind Governor Romney and take our message of fiscal conservatism and job creation to all voters this fall. I am endorsing Mitt Romney for our Party’s nomination. We face huge challenges, and we need a leader who understands the economy, recognizes more government regulation is not the answer, believes in entrepreneurial capitalism and works to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed.”
Bush, whose name often surfaces during talk of a brokered GOP convention, said last month he has found the rhetoric on the GOP campaign trail “a little troubling.”
“I used to be a conservative and I watch these debates and I’m wondering, I don‘t think I’ve changed, but it‘s a little troubling sometimes when people are appealing to people’s fears and emotion rather than trying to get them to look over the horizon for a broader perspective and that’s kind of where we are,” Bush said.
Bush’s endorsement comes after his father, former President George H.W. Bush, backed Romney in December.
Former President George W. Bush has not endorsed anyone in the GOP race.

Posted on March 21, 2012 at 1:20pmOh it’s true, they see him as the candidate and they want to stop Obama. They are also voicing the voice of their supporters who are voting for Romney. Look at Illinois, they saw him as the Economic Heavyweight, the candidate to shrink government, repeal ObamaCare, and fix this economy. This is why Romney will win the nominee and with everyone’s help we will get him elected in the General. Then on top of that we will replace the Dem/Liberal Senators and take back the Senate and keep the house, then there will be no question what Romney will do.
In Massachusetts he had to fight the 85% liberal legislature, here hopefully he will have two majorities, maybe a super majority, then they can make some truly conservative reform that will fix America. Here is a site dedicating to reversing the media’s false accusations against Romney: http://tiny.cc/nv5ibw . In 2012, we will “Fundamentally Restore America.”

TeaPartyForRomney
Posted on March 21, 2012 at 1:45pmSOYBOMB315,
Nope, no mistake in my question. The essential part was never the mandate, that is what people are talking about but the program was centered around the Free-Market, Consumer base, deregulating Market place where people could choose bare bone insurance or insurance that covers everything, which was set up by Romney & Heritage Foundation. The mandate was a second part added two years into the design process. And that mandate was as Romney and Heritage wrote in an op-ed, “Buy your own insurance, or pay your own bill.” Romney even says this today, why is it that the government has to pay for everyone to get insurance when they have the money and decide, “I don’t want to.” The 1st mandate was a conservative/libertarian mandate that was changed.
Remember also that Gingrich backed a federal version of this mandate and Santorum wanted an employer mandate. Santorum dropped it years ago while Gingrich dropped it after his campaign started falling apart 6 months ago.
You like mandates though, how about this one, “Work for your food, or go hungry” this is a natural mandate. How about “Pay your mortgage/rent, or lose your house.” this is a govt enforced mandate.”
RomneyCare is constitutional under the Mass constitution written by John Adams. This is why the 10th amendment is so important, you still have a choice, if you don’t like it, move out of the state or change the law. Since Mass. likes the law, ever 50% of the conservatives, if you don’t like

Posted on March 21, 2012 at 2:07pmi don’t really care how the political process arrived at romneycare – it is his baby. If he doesnt like the way it came out – too bad. If romney doesnt like the mandate – then why did he support the federal mandate as part of obamacare in 2009??? That is a recent story, i’m sure you can locate it.
I dont care what gingrich and any think tank said about it – i dont support him and i like to think on my own
If the supreme court rules the individual mandate unconstitutional – then it is unconstitutional at all levels of government. That is why the state of massechuesetts (spelling) cannot ban free speech – it is unconstitutional (see 14th ammendment). I know john adams had problems with free speech so maybe that wasnt a good example. The same applies to guns, establishment of religion, etc. The states are incorporated under the constitution and they cannot infringe upon our rights (bill of rights). I know romney doesnt understand this and many candidates dont – but you will see soon enough

But, in the general election, I can’t see how any republican or moderate who loves this great nation, can not vote for a new president. Four more years of what we’ve had for the last three years will destroy true freedom, and all of the dreams that come along with it!!!
If you’re a young adult, you‘ve got to think about what you’ve dreamed your future would be. If you’re a middle-aged adult, you‘ve got to think not only about your senior and retirement years and how you’ve envisioned them, but the prosperity that your sons and daughters are attempting to build into their own lives. If you’re a senior citizen, you’ve got to not only think about your health, welfare, and quality of life, but about doing what you can to preserve and keep the dreams alive that you relied upon, and that those loved ones coming behind you rely upon.

Thanks for using a George Soros group. Why didn’t they get the whole quote, because he was talking about the loser of favor with independents, not a change in his positions. Romney already knows he is on unsteady ground when it comes to flip-flopping. The media loves to call him a flip flopper and we have proven him to be no more of a flip-flopper than Gingrich, Santorum, or Paul. This will either make or break that theory of him being a ‘flip-flopper.’ Just remember that if Santorum or Gingrich won, they too would go back to their progressive past and try to convince the Indies that they were on their side. This isn’t just a Romney thing, this is what is wrong with Politics.
That is why Romney positioned himself in the beginning in the middle of ultra-conservatives and moderates. That way he wouldn’t have to lean right and then left depending on whether he was in the primary or general election.
Watch him now, let us hope that he stays strong on his convictions, for he has not said one thing in this election that has flipped his stance since 2008 and as governor. Though he may position himself back in the middle when it comes to his rhetoric.
TIME WILL ONLY TELL BUT ROMNEY IS NO FLIP-FLOPPER.
