Jeb Bush Sucker-Punches For His Brother: ‘Mr. President, Stop Blaming Your Predecessor For Your Failed Policies’

Former Fla. Gov. Jeb Bush strayed from his prepared remarks in order to defend his brother Thursday night and took a shot at President Obama in the process.  The defense came in the form of a jab toward the current administration. Bush took dead aim at the President not taking ownership for the economy and blaming the administration of his brother for our economic woes.

“My brother, well, I love my brother,” Bush said. “He is a man of integrity, courage, and honor, and during incredibly challenging times, he kept us safe.”  The line mentioned the Bush record and September 11th, two topics that had been very fleeting at the convention.  The comments also drew a standing ovation.

Bush continued “So, Mr. President, it is time to stop blaming your predecessor for your failed economic policies.”  This line resonated with delegates already cheering. The convention floor erupted in applause and cheers in defense of the former President.  A sigh of relief for many frustrated with the continual attacks on the Bush family.

Jeb waited for the applause and continued in his attack of the President. “You were dealt a tough hand, but your policies have not worked. In the fourth year of your presidency, a real leader would accept responsibility for his actions, and you haven’t done it.”

The convention erupted in applause again.  The Bush family had kept very reserved in commentary over the last four years, even as President Obama mercilessly attacked the family record.

“Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest” Jeb concluded  ”let’s talk a little bit about our kids and education.”  Jeb then proceeded with his remarks.  The length of which can be found here.

Sucker Punch? Is it a sucker punch when a brother strikes back at a rabid pack of Democrat loons who have been pounding on W for almost 11 years now. Obama is the blamer in chief (Inherited from Bush, headwinds from Europe, Arab Spring, Tsunami, ATM’s, Kiosks,American efficiency improvements, etc.) President Bush sucked…In an event in Tampa he said he would secure our borders, instead let 2 border patrol agents go to prison for shooting a drug dealer in the ass after scuffling with 1 and running. Also said he would privatize social security (a real lock box for our money) instead the Largest Ponzi scheme in history continues. But he does not deserve the credit/blame for the mess Obama is only making worse. On top of that Bush was and is a class act and a good man. He continues to turn the other cheek (something I could not do) and by doing so leads through example.

The middle class has lost 50% of it’s wealth since the Democrats took over in 2007, and they run ads saying if the republicans are given power, the republican will hurt the middle class. This is like the rapist that cuts your throat from ear to ear as he pulls out, saying don’t call 911, they are will kill you.

Bad headline. That wasn’t a sucker punch that I heard. When Jeb said that I immediately thought that in their hearts, every single member of the Bush family, would love nothing more than to personally confront the lowlife that is cowardly hiding behind a Presidential shield desperately trying to destroy the Bush name for no other reason than to avoid admitting his own incompetence. Those on the left who blamed the former President for 911 even though he had only 8 months in office when it happened, and now refuse to own up to how ineffective this President has been after almost four years in office, must live with their conscience. In my opinion they all deserve much more than a punch.

It’s fair to criticize Obama, who clearly has not been effective with improving the economy after the wreck handed to him by the previous Republican administration.

It’s another to try to defend Bush 43, who over a period of 8 years botched everything, completely.

12 years ago we had a sound budget, fair taxes, no wars, a booming economy and low unemployment.

By the time Bush left office we had 9.1% unemployment, two official but ill-advised wars at the cost of trillions and a bunch of clandestine wars. The deficit was running rampant and the economy was undergoing it’s worst days since the Great Depression. Banks were bailed out to the effect of trillions. America‘s reputation was besmirched by Gitmo and episodes of torture carried out by it’s operatives. The American people and the world had been egregiously lied to about WMA.

And what are we treated to? An attempt to rewrite history and put the worst Republican President in memory in a good light.

So why didn’t George put in an appearance in Tampa, anyway? Isn’t it normal for past presidents to speak to their supporters?

Or maybe people are afraid that if they are reminded of the last Republican President they won’t vote for another one.

1st off Sucker Punch, is this a MSNBC Link!

@Decca, you’re just like your hero BHO, just make things up to fit your agenda!! Bush inherrited a recession, the .com bubble burst. You know why you never hear about it, cause Bush didn’t go around blaming and crying like BHO does! Actually Reagan inherrited a worst economy then BHO did. When W left office the unemployment was 7.3%. now under BHO it’s 8.5%. When BHO took the oath, gas prices were $1.83, now $3.70+. Debt under W 5.7 trillion-10.6 trillion in 8 years! BHO 10.6 trillion-16 trillion in 4 years!! We don’t need to rewrite history, W did a good job. We conservatives just need to tell the truth, we need to defend our own. Don’t let the Left tell us what we should think, and lie about W! Oh yeah they had a nice tribute video to both Bush’s.

@Decca, Your Hero can’t defend his record, so he goes around lying and trying to divide and conquer! There’s your President, someone you can be real proud of!!

I remember paying $4 for gas under Bush.
I guess gas would be $1.73 with 10% (really 20%) unemployment.
People praise Bush for the 7.4% unemployment when he left office, and want to praise Bush for the gas prices being $1.73 which was a direct reflection of the state of the economy. So you want to take credit for the good, and spin the bad as good too.

The facts are…. both parties suuck.
Bush also started the avalanche of illegal immigration. Illegals have killed more than 3 times more Americans than 9-11. Bush and Obama helped, the last 12 years have been crappy under either one of them. I just marvel at how people suck up and get so involved and praisy about some schmuck that helped ruin America. Now Romney is the savior, its his turn to tell everyone everything they want to hear, just like Bush did, Obama did, and now Romney will do the same thing because global corps run the government, all the politco’s are signed on to the UN Agenda which is the downfall and micro management of a failing nation, its all about profits. Its funny how the repubs or dems are against everything the other side does until they get into office, then its a great idea. We’ve lost 240,000 small businesses, bottom line small businesses are the heart of the economy, the vast percentage of small businesses have under 10 employees, and until we get that number up, the rest is just talking BS while giving Big Corp more small business contracts which is illegal. I am sick and tired of you i d i o t s that spout off nothing but democratic talking points. You need to go back and look at when things started going down hill. It was when the democrats took over the house and senate… George W. may have done some “progressive” things during his administration, but he has always had the American People’s best interest in his heart. Were all of his decisions something that I would agree with??? No, but his intentions were honorable and pro America. On the other hand, Obama only wants to destroy American Greatness, and his intentions have never been for the betterment of the American People, but for his own aggrandizement and the furthering of communist/marxist/socialist agendas. Government knows best…. my azz!

Dora do you live in Florida? I do. The charter schools are the next best thing to a private school for the people who can’t afford the private school. Our charter schools have great teachers who are more concerned with the students than the teacher unions and parent participation that is lacking(and unwanted) in the public schools. I work hard so my wife can stay home and we home school our kids. Our children have read the constitution and bill of rights and are taking classes on line from M.I.T. for science (not Al Gore) Just signed up for Constitution 101 and 201 at Hillsdale College (free by the way) that the whole family will watch together. Education begins at home, teach them how to think not what to think. But they also need to know they have to work hard in order to succeed. I can’t wait to see my children prosper and be the future of the world.
