Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said he‘s worried about the direction of today’s Republican Party, calling the GOP “short-sighted” for its failure to recognize changing demographics.
“In terms of the tone of the debate, it sends the signal, ‘we want your support but you really can’t join our team,’” Bush said in a wide-ranging interview with CBS’ “This Morning” aired Thursday. “That’s the short term implications of this and demographically, Latino voters and Hispanic voters will be important, but going forward even more so.”
He added, “I think it is short-sighted. I think there needs to be more efforts to recognize the demographics of our country are changing and…how we message our views needs to change as well.”
Bush has expressed similar views in the past, saying he was concerned about the level of rhetoric that emerged during the GOP primary contests.
Bush also sought to shoot down rumors he would be Mitt Romney’s No. 2 on the Republican ticket, saying “under no circumstances” would he be the party’s vice presidential nominee.
“I‘m not going to do it and I’m not going to be asked and it’s not going to happen,” he said. “That doesn‘t mean I don’t want to enthusiastically support Mitt Romney but I’m not going to be a candidate with him.”
Still, he admitted that the 2012 race was probably his time to seek the presidency himself, though said he’s not sure he could have even been elected given some of his political views.
“This was probably my time,” Bush said. “Although…I’m not sure I would have been successful as a candidate either. These are different times than just six years ago when I last ran.”
Bush also said he feels President Barack Obama might owe “a little tip of the hat” to his brother, former President George W. Bush, for his influence on foreign policy, particularly the use of drone attacks to target terrorists.
“It would be nice, a little tip of the hat might be a nice thing, I think it would be helpful for him politically,” Bush said of Obama. “[He] doesn’t owe it…it helps, just a small acknowledgment that the guy you replaced isn‘t the source of every problem and the excuse of why you’re not being successful I think would help him politically.”

We the People are taking over. and you will submit or you’ll be tossed on the dust bin of history. you elected officials are no better than the man on the street but you are about as simple minded as a jackass. you are so dense you still don‘t get it after all that’s happened the last 4 years.. well this time you will get it.. we are going to smash it in your faces and we will make you all accountable for your actions. we’ve taken way too much garbage and lies from you people. we will change it..

Posted on June 7, 2012 at 12:07pmThat’s right, there is no compromise wih the left on anything. Remember the so called Obama jobs bill where they said “take it or leave it.” Not let’s sit down and work together, take it ALL or leave it. How does that equal compromise? The answer is, it doesn’t. The American people are tired of politicians “toning down” the message to pander to any specific demographic. Time to stand tall. Didn’t Jeb pay attention to what just happened in Wisconsin? Sounds like he’s watching too much MSNBC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ovzRxR4PI0

Posted on June 7, 2012 at 1:58pmThere is no more working with the other side of the aisle. Those days are over. Compromise is defined as conservatives capitulating to the left. When is the last time they compromised with us? They don’t. By definition, our right leaning founding has nowhere to go but to the left. ANY compromise on our part destroys the country. We have to fight to maintain liberty. Any achievement from the left, no matter how great or small, is by definition an erosion of liberty. That’s why Jefferson said the tree of liberty must be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants. The tyrant will constantly fight to erode freedom and we must.

Listen boys, there’s a new sheriff in town called the Tea Party. You boys are outsiders. Save your breath. Tea Party people don‘t give a rat’s a** about changing demographics because the movement is about the Constitution and Liberty, two concepts that are blind to gender, race and religion.

Posted on June 7, 2012 at 11:30amI thought Jeb did a very good job as governor, but he has the same problem that seems to effect Rubio, his Hispanic involvement seems to color their thinking. Race before country.
The story is Conservatives, and by their connection, Republicans, hate Hispanics!
These pols seem to ignore the entire ‘illegal’ aspect of this debate.
Conservatives don’t want to keep Hispanic out of the country, or the party, they just want them to be legal!
I think any member of our government that can put race before our laws, is in the wrong business. If our emigration laws are not fair, then change them. Don’t just ignore them, or work to bypass them, and then call anyone that wants the law followed “short sighted”, “bigot” or some other vile label!
IMHO most American citizens want emigration to be fair and reasonable. After all these years, now Hispanics are not treated fairly? I believe the Irish and Polish had a few problems too.

maybe if these groups voted their Faith (most are very religious and conservative in their social views outside of their own personal stealing of welfare benefits), voted their History (the Democrats were the party of racism up until LBJ stole credit for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 – a bill he opposed when Eisenhower first passed a version in 1958), and voted their conscience, we wouldn’t need to single them out as a “special” sub-group that needs to be “treated” in a special way…

Posted on June 7, 2012 at 11:04amI never bought this argument because why should we feel the need to change what has served America so well for over 200 years? This argument is no different from those arguments made by the clergy where the begin to “change” their religion to get more bodies in the doors. Why?
To anybody with a reasonable mind, the two things I described above are that is short-sighted – morphing your beliefs for inconsequential, short-term gain.
This comment from Jeb is all the evidence you need to see the damage that money and to some extent, too much education, can have on even self-described conservatives. You get soft and begin to think irrationally because you’re no longer in the game; rather in a vacuum where you mostly control the all the variables.

Posted on June 7, 2012 at 1:15pmThat completely misses my point which is why conservatives would want to screw with the recipe that had made this nation what it once was? You think “lowering the bar” for ethical and moral behavior is going to lead to a long term benefit for this country? If so, you’re thinking irrationally.
Just look at how low the leftists have dropped the bar in the last 30 years; look at the way the average American behaves and rears their children and then – with a straight face – tell me it is all for the better. That would be – at best – a dishonest assessment.

Seeing how the GOP has conducted itself this primary, I‘d say they’re disgusting people with very few morals even though they claim that to be their bag. From Iowa to LA over the weekend… there has been video evidence showing the worst of the GOP. And they’re doing this to their own base. Why haven’t the talking heads picked up on this and condemmed their actions? State after state there are lawsuits where the law clearly favors the Paul camp that are being ignored by the media. It truly seems corrupted by by power hungry asshats. There isn’t even anyone here that has the balls to say, “yeah we probably shouldn’t be doing this if we expect to seen as being a positive”. Wrongs are wrongs, but to paint the right in no different a light than anti-American leftists is disingenuous.
I see your point about wanting our side to behave reasonably, but when you consider the other side is intentionally destroying the middle class to bring the slackers up a few notches – I have a real hard time justifying this is on the same plane as what you’re accusing the right of having recently done.

Here is one of the people that created the software testifying to Congress: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDd21pEmP4g
How is it that Romney gets all the press coverage, has been called “the guy” from the beginning, but he cannot get enough people to come to his rallies to fill up any of the seats, and Ron Paul, who fills stadiums with thousands of people, gets no coverage? Why do you think that is? He is a threat to their power and status quo and they will do anything to keep him from being elected.
This is why we are pursuing a lawsuit that could unbind the delegates on the first round according to a little known federal law, 42 USC 1971. You can find links to this and other federal laws that will trump state laws on forcing any citizen, no matter what their political position is, to vote for, or not vote for any candidate for the office of President at any primary for the electon or selection of such candidate at the first link above. Tampa is going to go down in history as changing election law.
