Retired PSU Coach Jerry Sandusky Found Guilty

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) — Jerry Sandusky was convicted Friday of sexually assaulting 10 boys over 15 years, accusations that had sent shock waves through the college campus known as Happy Valley and led to the firing of Penn State’s beloved Hall of Fame coach, Joe Paterno.
Sandusky, a 68-year-old retired defensive coach who was once Paterno’s heir apparent, was found guilty of 45 of 48 counts. He faces life in prison at sentencing, which is weeks away.
Sandusky showed little emotion as the verdict was read. The judge ordered him to be taken to the county jail to await sentencing in about three months.

Eight young men testified in a central Pennsylvania courtroom about a range of abuse, from kissing and massages to groping, oral sex and anal rape. For two other alleged victims, prosecutors relied on testimony from a university janitor and then-graduate assistant Mike McQueary, whose account of a sexual encounter between Sandusky and a boy of about 10 ultimately led to the Paterno‘s dismissal and the university president’s ouster.
Sandusky did not take the stand in his own defense.

He had repeatedly denied the allegations, and his defense suggested that his accusers had a financial motive to make up stories, years after the fact. His attorney also painted Sandusky as the victim of overzealous police investigators who coached the alleged victims into giving accusatory statements.
But jurors believed the testimony that, in the words of lead prosecutor Joseph McGettigan III, Sandusky was a “predatory pedophile.”
One accuser testified that Sandusky molested him in the locker-room showers and in hotels while trying to ensure his silence with gifts and trips to bowl games. He also said Sandusky had sent him “creepy love letters.”
Another spoke of forced oral sex and instances of rape in the basement of Sandusky’s home, including abuse that left him bleeding. He said he once tried to scream for help, knowing that Sandusky’s wife was upstairs, but figured the basement must be soundproof.
Another, a foster child, said Sandusky warned that he would never see his family again if he ever told anyone what happened.
And just hours after the case went to jurors, lawyers for one of Sandusky’s six adopted children, Matt, said he had told authorities that his father abused him.
Matt Sandusky had been prepared to testify on behalf of prosecutors, the statement said. The lawyers said they arranged for Matt Sandusky to meet with law enforcement officials but did not explain why he didn’t testify.
“This has been an extremely painful experience for Matt and he has asked us to convey his request that the media respect his privacy,” the statement said. It didn’t go into details about his allegations.
Defense witnesses, including Jerry Sandusky’s wife, Dottie, described his philanthropic work with children over the years, and many spoke in positive terms about his reputation in the community. Prosecutors had portrayed those efforts as an effective means by which Sandusky could camouflage his molestation as he targeted boys who were the same age as participants in The Second Mile, a charity he founded in the 1970s for at-risk youth.
Sandusky’s arrest in November led the Penn State trustees to fire Paterno as head coach, saying he exhibited a lack of leadership after fielding a report from McQueary. The scandal also led to the ouster of university president Graham Spanier, and criminal charges against two university administrators for failing to properly report suspected child abuse and perjury.
The two administrators, athletic director Tim Curley and now-retired vice president Gary Schultz, are fighting the allegations and await trial.
Sandusky had initially faced 52 counts of sex abuse. The judge dropped four counts during the trial, saying two were unproven, one was brought under a statute that didn’t apply and another was duplicative.

Report Post »My point is not about Sandusky but about his DEFENSE ATTORNEY. ANY good defense attorney would not have said the things Amendola did. After the verdict was read, Amendola came to the podium with a HUGE smile on his face after his client was found guilty. I would have been mortified; whose side is your defense attorney on? All through the trial he was making inappropriate comments to the media; I would have fired him ASAP. Guaranteed Amendola is not on the team when they appeal.

I don’t believe that she is totally innocent of not knowing what was going on. WHY would you not want to know what your husband was doing all those hours in the basement with those boys? Matt S., the adopted son, has accused JS of molestation. Matt tried to commit suicide just 4 months after he moved in with the couple. What can he tell us about his adopted mother? That might prove to be more damaging.

How many innocent people have been executed because the GA wants to look good? I was not in this country when the prosecutors couched 6-7 years children to accuse owners of the kindergarten in child molestation. The owners spent years in the prison for nothing. It appears that they have been innocent. They have been exonerated fortunately later. I want you to know that “pidors” must sleep next to “parasha.” Let me know what are the law suites in monetary values against the Pen Stat? Follow the money.

One, David Doherty, was proven innocent after it was found that his was not the DNA of the perpertrator.The DNA technician was in error, and arguably biased, due to close association with the prosecution. He was released after three and a half years.
The second, Peter Ellis, spent ten years in prison on the testimony of preschoolers who, it turned out, were coached.
But, as Rjjingadsden points out, these were adults, supported by adult witnesses, and there were many of them.
I think that it was a safe verdict.

How about following the money that Penn State Sports teams got by shuffling this scandalous behavior under the rug for so many years. They would have had funding for the Football team pulled. If you have the proclivity to hurt children, you deserve to be in jail. The people who suffered at the hands of an abuser and they enablers never get rid of the the memory.

1. Spool of high strength fishing line.
2. 50 feet of rope with a carabiner tied to one end and a bumper hook on the other.
3. 100 treble hooks of various sizes.
4. 1 roll of duct tape.
5. 1 saw horse.
Tie 8ft leaders on the hooks with a loop at the end of each one. Place JS over saw horse and duct tape in place. Allow his victims to cram treble hooks deeply into his rectum with a broom handle one at a time till all are gone. Attach leaders to carabiner at one end of rope. Attach rope to bumper of truck. Drag him slowly till nothing is left but the hooks. End of problem.

C. and other sex crimes guys and the elderly. It will be prison: the food not great(but he can buy comissary), beds not great mattresses, no privacy, completely controlled life he will have to adjust to someone telling him every move he can make and that is hard really an adjustment. The hardest thing for him will be he has no hope of ever getting out, all hope for him has died with this verdict and for what, something he probably past caring about. Think of it he is 69 now there were no recent victims, why because he is aging and sex is no longer the focus it once was. He will die in prison because of something which he had already giiven up, it would be very hard to wake up each morning and think about how miserable prison truly is and know you made this happen to yourself and it will never end.

For the record, I think Reggie Bush, Pete Carrol, Jim Tressel, and all the players who accepted illegal benefits (broke the rules as established) should have been punished and not the fans and players who did nothing wrong. But when you‘re 6’6″ and/or run a 4.1 – 4.3 forty or win NC’s as a coach you get promoted for cheating in our current system.

The faith – which is how you live your spiritual beliefs; your trust in God’s promises is VERY different from the religion – a mass of screwed up, sinful people and priests. May God lead and guide you and all to The Truth of His Kingdom on Earth and his infinite love and mercy.
And what would that be? what or who brought God into this world so he could share Himself with us directly? He couldn’t show Himself without an intermediary or we would have all perished. Think on it. May the Peace of the Lord fill your soul.

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 10:43pmI am hearing Fox News talk about how maybe Penn State will cut a check to those victims so this story will go away, no money in the world can heal those victims…..I was a victim and I would love to know where my parents family friend is so I can kick his ass! but let me tell you, it leaves a pain in your soul when you get abused, only God can heal me but it takes time. I cried my eyes out when I saw this verdict…God bless those kids

Prison is to good of a life, to comfortable-he would enjoy the male “companionship”. There is no torture rough enough for a pervert praying on innocence like this.
