Jerry Springer: ‘We Are a Liberal Country’

Former Democratic politician and shock-show TV host Jerry Springer has a theory as to why liberal talk radio doesn’t do well: it doesn’t matter because “the liberals won.” To support his hypothesis, he says, all you have to do is look at the next generation.

“We have conservative politicians, we give conservative speeches, but on every major issue the liberals have won,” he said on Howard Stern’s radio show Wednesday. “We are a liberal country. You can go into the most conservative neighborhood in America and … talk to their kids, and their kids listen to the same music, talk the same way, dress the same way — culturally we’re liberal.”

“The liberals won, on every issue, on every issue!” he added. And it’s the product of the 60s “protest movement”:

Springer’s comment that you “seem more adult if you give a conservative speech” might just be a retelling of the old Churchill saying: “If you’re not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative at forty you have no brain.”

    When I was a kid, Jerry was the mayor of Cincninnati. He was ousted after a ****** was arrested and they found a personal check from the mayor in her purse. If you’re dumb enough to write a ****** a personal check, as mayor no less, why should I listen to any of your opinions ever again?

    Yeah, “look at the next generation” because our educators are indoctinating our young people in socialism. Read a few of the current history books used by colleges and universities! That should be an eye-opener! We are not educating our young people; we are indoctrinating them. The only thing Liberals win on is that if they don’t provide amnesty to the 20 million illegals in this country–they won’t continue to win. That last victory was based on “Hope and Change” but no one, not even the BO himself, described the Hope or Change they were planning. Go ahead, Jerry–sell that one again!

    I hate to say it, but there is some truth to what Springer is claiming.

    By and large, kids are liberal and some end up swinging back to being conservative, especially when they’re forced to hold down a job and have a family.

    In the mid-to-late 1980′s, it was more even amongst us kids, and dare I say slightly more conservative. Most of us agreed on the basic, important issues.

    By the mid 1990′s, talking to kids was like nite and day different than just 10 years earlier.

    The problem is now, there are just too many bottom-feeders out there to combat. By that, I mean lazy kids that have little inner drive. That’ll destroy a successful nation, no doubt.

      The thing is, Jerry is right. The Liberals DID win. And they did it by teaching the younger generations since birth in a way that children respond to.

      Conservatives treat children like adults, which while it might seem more respectful, children don’t respond to. Liberals have taught them that they’ll NEVER have to grow up (because government will always take care of them), and they don’t WANT to have to grow up. Look at how many 24-34 year olds are saying they don’t want to have children because it would “get in the way of [them] having fun”.

      Liberals know how to tell the young people what they want to hear, and that’s why the youth responds to them.

      Well, if you watch the people Jerry has been hanging around with over the last 30 years, you can understand his confusion. He thinks the people on his show and viewers are actually normal everyday Americans.

      I’ll be your fellow-traveler on this one, Ghost.
      Of course Springer’s point is without merit, because HE means it to assume that people who are liberal at one point in life can’t change, and the culture can‘t change because people can’t.
      However, his evidence doesn’t tell the whole story. A more accurate picture would show Americans who still hold mostly conservative values, and then stray from them from time to time because values are like ideals in some cases. Also, because one of the values is liberty, one can predict that a wide diversity of cultural products and choices beyond the conservative norm would exist in a “conservative” society. But we must admit, with Ghost, and Beck, that since socialism can’t lunge here like it wants to, instead creeps, or “nudges”, liberalism IS becoming ever more institutionalized.

      I have just finished reading your posting of the differences between “liberal‘ and ’libertarian’ and have to agree with you; I am for the most part ‘libertarian’ and a Constitutionalist at the same time. I am also enough of a realist to understand the mess that has taken a century or so to build up cannot be undone just overnight; yet undone it has to be.

      Thank you for the posting, and I have shown it to several people here at my apartments, they like it.

      We are not Liberal where I live.

      Springer’s show was always showing the bottom feeders of society. I am sure that influenced his opinion because his circle of influence is so far off the mainstream.

      If we were Liberal, Obama’s approval would be in the 70 percent range instead of 45 percent.

      I couldn’t care less for the opinion of a guy who hosts the kind of TV show this moron did. He can say whatever he wants; he’s only able to convince the pea-brain who used to watch him.

      Sadly in some ways he is correct. Not sure where it ends at but it started with public education, well not education so much as it is public indoctrination.
