According to Rev. Jesse Jackson, Martin Luther King Jr.’s ultimate dream was not just equality of the races, but also apparently more gun control, universal health care, guaranteed employment, and on and on…

Posted on January 17, 2011 at 6:37pmI hate to tell Jesse and Al, that Martin Luther King would not associate with these 2 men. He did not expect the government to hand people food, clothing, homes, or jobs. He wanted EVERYONE to have the same opportunities to pursue jobs, education, and life. No one in America was ever guaranteed a home, a job, food, or anything else. Our founding fathers said that we had the right to pursue happiness, whatever that shall be for each human being.
By the way Jesse, rich people pay for the programs that poor people, some of whom cannot work, but others that choose not to work receive and I for one am tired of paying and paying and paying and not receiving anything. For example,I can’t write off the interest for my student loans because I “make too much money.” My parents made too much or had too much in assets as they had worked to pay off their home and I did not qualify for grants only loans that will have taken me 20 years to pay off. No one has given my husband or I a darn thing. We have worked hard putting in many hours and hard work to get what we have. I begrudge paying for those that are unwilling to work, spend wisely, and expect for the government (which simply means those that work and own property) to take care of them and their family.

Just one of those people that were trying to make a name for themselves using King to do it and the only way that he was able to get known was by King being shot. According to Robert Bork, in his book, there are those on the Left who believe there are rights to food, shelter, education, clothing, energy, and jobs. The way that will be imposed is through the courts, which is why Bork was slammed so brutally; that agenda will never be legislated into reality. Lefties knew Bork would never give them those things, so he had to go.

——————-Yeah, what would Jesse Jackson know? He not only was a confidante of Martin Luther King Jr but present on the balcony when he was assassinated. Now Glenn Beck, he knows what was in Martin Luther King’s mind. While Glenn was smoking weed in his 20s Jesse was right in the middle of The Civil Rights Movement, literally right alongside Martin Luther King Jr. So as time went on Jesse Jackson’s views are much more reflective of where King would stand on issues today than all of you who are condemning him.

Beck isn’t arguing that there are OUTSIDE forces that keep us from being happy, although he does point out connections between forces that are colluding to undermine the foundations of freedom and individual responsibility in this country. He is, rather, arguing that we each need to change ourselves and become better than we are as individuals. A critical mass of us accomplishing this goal would not only make us more fulfilled individuals, but overthrow whatever colluding forces there may be out there. His is not a message of anger, but of hope. And I’m sorry your brain seems to be refusing delivery on this because it seems so plain to everyone else who listens to him (except Beckisnuts, of course). Posted on January 17, 2011 at 7:28pm@ Dueter – Jesse has had decades to make a difference in black communities around the nation, and what exactly has he done? Nothing but continue to keep his community segregated through fear, racism and hatred. MLK strove to enrich and enlighten his kind to be better people through personal responsibility and character. Jesse has absolutely no interest in that type of solution. MLK worked tirelessly for equality, and achieved his goal. Jesse Jackson works tirelessly for continued racism and oppression of his own people, so that he can personallty benefit. If he and Rev Shaprton really gave a damn about the black community, they would be in those communities day in and day out, denouncing gang violence, drug use, drop out rates, lack of responsibility of black fathers, and would be teaching members of the community more personal responsibility. I don’t care whether he was with MLK all those years ago – his dream and MLK’s are far from being the same.

Posted on January 17, 2011 at 10:25pmI’m not a Jessie Jackson fan at all. I think the less he and Sharpton say, the better for minorities and the better for the country to be frank.
But there wasn’t a lot offensive even in this very edited clip, although Blazers can offense at anything. Dr. King’s life was devoted to social justice, something Glenn Beck says to flee from. Jackson spoke truly that the rich are getting richer and the poor poorer, and the poor, my fellow Blazers, is you and me.
America can be a country of, by and for the rich. We can get rid of anti-trust laws, so that a single, giant company can take over any industry then charge us whatever they want for their products and pay you the minimum you will take before you decide stealing is easier. We can get rid of the EPA and OSHA and minimum wage, so that companies can maximize profits at the expense of you quality of life – and have flammable rivers from polution and chemicals in the water that give your children cancer and the smog blocking the sun in industrialized cities (like half of China and like some cities in the US before the EPA) and businesses where minorities can’t enter (ironically funny when whites become the minority in some states, which they will). Yes, we can have that by getting the government the heck out out of, not “our” way, but out of the way of company profits.
We can have a country without Social Security where old people, if they haven’t saved enough, simply die in poverty when they can no longer work. Actually we’ve had that country before, that’s why we have Social Security. Yes, we can regress to the era, but I’d ask all you Blazers if you have 20 X your yearly salary in the bank to retire from and live for 20 years after you retire.. The answer is no, you don’t.
Be careful what you wish for Blazers. Many of these roads, we, as a country have already traveled down.

Posted on January 17, 2011 at 11:05pmYes sir. It certainly is under attack, by folks like you. MLK wanted EQUAL justice, not social justice. He wanted a world where people of all skin colors could live together in peace. Where all people were judged by the “content of their character” not the color of their skin.
Folks like you and Sharpton (I refuse to use the word Reverend) exploit race to maintain your own personal enrichment and to divide Americans more than segregation ever could. You’ve so completely reduced an entire sector of our population to bowing and scraping to the government for support that it would take generations to get them out provided they got the kind of REAL support they need.
You have systematically removed any chance for these people to rise up from their situation and say the words “I can” by institutionalizing poverty and victimology and hate. Lots of things have been put in place to give minorities a chance, such as education and affirmative action, yet black statistics such as graduation rate, two parent home rates, employment rates and median income rate are still on the decline. The only black statistics that are on the rise are abortion rates, crime rates and unemployment rates.
Shame on you Sir. You should be out there teaching impoverished black Americans how to be responsible with the money they do have, encouraging them to reach for the stars, that all things are possible and helping them to learn self-pride through accomplishment, and individuality instead of hunkering down in their low income communities, separated from main stream life, waiting for a self-esteem killing welfare check. Why? Because there would be no need for race-baiting shills like yourself. You would become as irrelevant to them as you are to the rest of the world. Any credibility you had left is long gone by now.
I have a question. Was anyone here ever guaranteed a job? Are you suggesting that black people should be guaranteed jobs? White people aren’t. Is that EQUAL?

You only get about 20% right, the rest of your posts are pure ideological propaganda and is pretty much the exact same tripe that the left say regardless of what site you’re at, or what decade you’re in for that matter. You cherry pick the parts of history that suit your diatribe and ignore the rest. And your examples are in now way based in reality. MLK was NOT for social justice, I’m sure because he knew that hoisting one sector of society on the backs of the rest would only cause more division and resentment. He was for EQUAL justice, meaning that minorities would get a seat at the table, afforded the SAME opportunities as whites, to be allowed to ACHIEVE just like whites. Social justice or socialism does nothing for the have nots. Do you really think that taking from one and giving to another who did nothing or very little to deserve or earn it helps them? How does that work on the taker’s self-worth?
Step back from your mantras, diatribes and chants and think that one through. Put yourself in a poor person’s shoes for just a minute. How does intitutionalizing people to take money they didn’t earn help them? You’re basically telling them, ok, you suck, but it’s ok, take this free money so I’ll feel better.

Truth >>> Dr. King is NOT under attack by me, Conservatives, the Tea-Party, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, etc. Instead we have been warning people that his dreams are being hi-jacked and re-packaged by the progressive/commies in the USA!

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 12:18amLadyBug I assume you part of the culture here and if you read the posts, you won’t find a single one honoring the memory of Reverend Martin Luther Kind, and I noticed you failed to use the honorific “Doctor” or “Reverend” in your post. If you disagree with 80% of my post, which referenced the choice Americans have between “We the People” and the rights of businesses to pollute the environment, poison our children, allow workplace death in the name of profit – that’s not hyperbole I take it you were born in the 80s after well EPA and OSHA – then I take it you didn’t read my post or you simply believe that the rich have right to do as they please to the poor.
Dr. Martin Luther Kind was in favor of racial equality, but he saw also the effects of social policy:
When we ask Negroes to abide by the law, let us also declare that the white man does not abide by law in the ghettos. Day in and day out he violates welfare laws to deprive the poor of their meager allotments; he flagrantly violates building codes and regulations; his police make a mockery of law; he violates laws on equal employment and education and the provisions of civil services. The slums are the handiwork of a vicious system of the white society; Negroes live in them, but they do not make them, any more than a prisoner makes a prison.
Martin Luther King, Jr., The Trumpet of Conscience, 1967.
You may believe, and I understand you are young, that without forced integration of school, and enforced anti-discrimination laws against minorities (Civil Rights laws) that the United States would be better off now rather than worse. But you’d be wrong. Without those laws we’d still be in the 50s with Jim Crow and “separate but equal.” The United States has made progress on racial equality not despite those laws, as you claim, but because of them. Like George Wallace, you may want to stand up in front of a school to prevent a black student to enter, and say “this isn’t their district and if they are worthy they will succeed without government help”. But your breed is on the way out. You may think the world would be a better place without Social Security, and believe that program prevents people from learning to save, and you’d see America as it was 80 years ago, with old people dying of poverty and beggin in the streets. We as a country have been there, and it was pathetic.
You may believe that without the EPA, businesses would stop polluting just because it’s the right thing to do even though it reduces their profits. But you’d be wrong. We‘ve tried that and it didn’t work. You may think that without OSHA businesses would just “do the right thing” and not allow short term (like death) or long term effect to the health of their employees. But you’d be wrong. We tried that and it didn’t work.
Your “diatribe” suggests that you are fine with a country where the rich get richer and the rest of us get poorer. And seem to associate that with “freedom”. Silly girl, carry that to the extreme, where we are all “free” but in poverty and working to support an upper caste consisting of 1% of Americans who run the country. We can have that in America, but we already have and the other 99% of Americans didn’t like it.
And you can hypocritically mock, as most do here, Americans like President Obama and Oprah, who rose from poverty and broken households to become successes, and when they support liberal ideas, call them ignorant and arrogant, but you might take a look at their lives and ask why it is that they, of all people, are liberal.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 12:30amAgreed, but not by the Right, by the Left and every Liberal Professor, every 3rd Generation Welfare family and of course Mr. “Dreams of My Father” as he works to increase the Nanny State and government spending.
There is no excuse in this Country for families to be on Welfare for multiple generations without some crazy circumstances.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 7:46amI am sorry, Martin Luther King was a great man but it seems today that everyone just uses him as an excuse to push their agenda. MLK is not God and MLK did not found this country although many things he stood for are a part of the values and principles of this country. What is wrong period is that we need to focus on 2 things God and the Bible first and the wisdom he gave to us long ago in the constitution.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 8:44amMLK’s dream has been under attack by the likes of the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, Al Shaprton, Lewis F. and many other groups of color within the black community for a long time. MLK wanted us all to walk as equals, not have special laws and regulations put in place to put certain groups above others. The black community as a whole truly needs to get back to what MLK’s dream truly was.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 12:18pmJesse is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! MLK’s dream is under attack… from the LEFT! The racist left keeps the black man down by giving him food, shelter and clothing. Welfare, Section 8, and food stamps are working like a charm to keep him down, poor, and unambitious. Meanwhile, Jesse gets rich by helping the racist left! Who is the real sellout?

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 12:48pmI hope everyone realizes that MLK has an actual holiday commemorated in HIS NAME “SPECIFICALLY”…George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are “lumped” together and it is called “President’s Day”…so, you need to tell me AGAIN why I give a rat’s behind what Jesse thinks about ANYTHING! Here in AZ we celebrate MLK’s B-Day as “Civil Rights Day”…I think that is more than appropriate considering that THAT is EXACTLY what the man LIVED and DIED for!

Report Post »Beck was about four or five when King was assasinated not twenty so I find it hard to believe that he was smoking dope then! Also Dr. Kings dream and message has not changed anymore than the founding fathers vision has changed! It has not changed because they all have one very important thing in common. They are all dead! Stop your revisionist history and stick to the facts at hand. The written word of those that came before us.

You mean THAT man of God? That’s not the kind of man that could even begin to know what MLK thinks. The two are on opposite ends of the universe (one being in heaven).

Report Post »You start out making a good point then degress into name calling. Whats your problem. I agree that Jesse Jackson is a scam artist. Has been since the day he came on the scene. Content of character is where the emphasis should be not on who is killing (as in MLK’s Dream) what or who is racist or not.
