Jesus Statue Set Ablaze in Minn.

It was a clash of images on Sunday in St. Paul, MN when a local man, Tuan Pham, awoke to see his beloved, custom-made Jesus statue in flames. According to family, someone took wood from a nearby pile and used a spray can to ignite a fire at the base of Pham’s 7-foot ode to Christ. It’s statue that has been controversial from the beginning:
Local station KARE reports:
It may have burned for awhile; Pham’s daughter took pictures of her father trying to knock down the flames. Fire investigators were going over the garden a few hours later. If they find evidence of arson, they are expected pass the case on to police.
“It pains me, it’s very upsetting. This means a lot to him. This is where he finds joy and where he spends a lot of his time,” Phan said about his retired father-in-law.
The statue took months to ship. It is a replica of a massive one Pham helped build more than 40 years ago in his hometown of Vung Tau, Vietnam. Pham says he was jailed for his catholic beliefs before he fled the country for Minnesota.
The statue was put in place last October and a month later, Phan says, the city received a complaint about it. The family requested a variance after officials found it was not the required 40 feet from the bluff line, but that request was denied by the city council a few days before the fire.
The family wonders if the fire was racially or religiously motivated, wondering why someone would try to burn marble; guessing it was merely meant to send a message. “Why does somebody need to go this far?” Phan wondered.

If you want to see how much of our country is already lost, go to Amazon, look for a religious book or author (I looked up Ephraim Frank) then read the comments on the religious forum. If your reaction is like mine was you will know that we are living in the time that John 15:18 (¶ If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.) seems true. Whatever the USA once was, it is not the same any more. It is so sad to realize what we have lost!

Posted on April 11, 2011 at 8:17amWhatwasithinking? – In case you missed this part of the story, this man helped to build a statue of Jesus in his hometown in Vietnam and was jailed for his Catholic faith. That’s why he had a smaller version made. It is NOT an “idol”. It is what is called a sacramentary – a reminder of what it represents, which in this case is our Lord and Savior. He, like all other Catholics, does NOT worship the statue; it helps him to keep his focus on Jesus when praying, and not allowing other distractions to interfere with his prayer life. So, please be respectful of other Christians’ faith when commenting.

While I do believe the One True GOD will do something about this and all the other BS happening around the globe against Christians, I do NOT believe it will be either in the manner or form you may wish it to be.
God does not wish or expect us to stand idly by and do nothing as these kinds of attacks are perpetrated against his people.
God does have “boots on the ground”. He does expect us to defend ourselves. Be thankfull that there are some of us willing to respond to acts of aggression in a like manner that will ensure a decisive end to their ability to continue with these attacks.
The time is very near when you must decide for yourself, will you sit idly by and do nothing as these worthless heathens attack your heritage, religion, property, and life, or will you take a stance and respond to the violence being brought upon you……
Decide.

Then could you explain Ex 25: 18-20, “And you shall make two cherubim of gold [i.e., two gold statues of angels]; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat. Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end; of one piece of the mercy seat shall you make the cherubim on its two ends. The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be”
1 Chr. 28:18–19, “for the altar of incense made of refined gold, and its weight; also his plan for the golden chariot of the cherubim that spread their wings and covered the ark of the covenant of the Lord. All this he made clear by the writing of the hand of the Lord concerning it all, all the work to be done according to the plan”
Ezekiel 41:17–18, “On the walls round about in the inner room and [on] the nave were carved likenesses of cherubim.”
Num. 21:8–9, “make (a statue of) a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and every one who is bitten, when he sees it shall live. So Moses made a bronze serpent, and set it on a pole; and if a serpent bit any man, he would look at the bronze serpent and live”
I would argue that God forbade the worship of statues, but he did not forbid the religious use of statues. Instead, he actually commanded their use in religious contexts!

Posted on April 11, 2011 at 3:43pmThis staute is on HIS property. It is a staute not a book.
You have every right to have a statue on your own property. If you purchase a book, any book, even a bible, you have the right to burn the book if you please. It is your property. If I burn a Koran because it belongs to me, that IS MY RIGHT because IT IS MY PROPERTY! I am not responsible for what anyone else does because they are offended by my action on MY PROPERTY.
We need to educate ourselves on property rights and personal responsibility. Those who RIOT and KILL for ANY REASON are RESPONSIBLE THEMSELVES. Not the person who does what they don’t like as long as it is within the LAW. When it becomes a CRIME to OFFEND someone as in Europe or Muslim countries then it is TYRANNY.

Of course, the Star/Tribune goes on in a half page article to describe how popular Wiccan is and that it is a “nature based” religion. Unlike the story of this man who immigrated from Vietnam and actually believes in the American Dream is not only ordered by the City of St. Paul to take down his Jesus statue on his private property because it was too close to the bluff overlooking the river, but had someone come onto his private property and start a fire that could have spread to the house. No big deal……right? I say we send emails to the City of St. Paul, telling them to butt out of this man’s beautiful relationship with Jesus. If you want to help support this man in repairing his statue, I bet you could send checks to the man through the City of St. Paul. Let‘s send them a message that government has no right to regulate a person’s faith. Oh, and the prisoner whining discrimination is serving 2 life sentences for 2 murders. Just saying………

Posted on April 12, 2011 at 2:09am@Article: The family wonders if the fire was racially or religiously motivated, wondering why someone would try to burn marble; guessing it was merely meant to send a message. “Why does somebody need to go this far?” Phan wondered.
Evil always strikes at statues, the weak, the unarmed, the inanimate; anything that can’t strike back with the force of a hurricane.

Posted on April 13, 2011 at 2:48pmJesus in “St. Paul”……….OK…before we tear down the image of Jesus…….no………after we tear down the image of Jesus we DEMAND that the St. Paul city council change the name to “Paul.” Better yet to be P.C. how about “Paulette.”
Then move on from there……….St. Louis…San Francisco…….Los Angeles…….San Antonio…….WE NEED TO SANITIZE!!
This disturbing mentality is here and it is real….either defeat it or it will defeat you….there is no compromise or fence-riding.
