Jihadist Cleric Calls Sabotaging Western Economies a Religious Duty for Muslims

A prominent online Jihadist cleric has officially decreed in a “fatwa” — a statement laying out an official religious duty — that it is the obligation of all Muslims to join in on riots against ‘“Crusader states” such as those in the U.K. as a means of waging Jihad.

SITE Intelligence* reported on the fatwa found on the Jihadist website of cleric Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi, called “The Pulpit of Tawhid and Jihad.”

The fatwa was posted on Abu Muhammad’s website on August 16, 2011, and was passed around to other jihadist forums on Tuesday.

In the question and answer section of Abu Muhammad’s website, an unknown individual requested guidance from the website’s Shariah Committee regarding participation in the U.K. riots as a means to damage enemy states.

SITE captured the response from cleric Abu Mundhir al-Shanqiti as follows:

“Every Muslim should participate and contribute in sabotaging the economies of the Crusader states, whether this is through economic boycott or by targeting their property with vandalism and arson.”

Jihadist Cleric Calls Joining U.K Riots a Religious Duty for MuslimsThis online Fatwa appears to be part of a growing movement in the cyber realm calling for the forces of Jihad to join with leftist unrest as means of weakening and eventually overthrowing western democracies. SITE has previously reported on calls from Jihadists for propaganda support of the riots using social media, and even disseminating bomb-making instructions to rioters.

In this instance, however, the fatwa calls for direct physical participation in the riots for Muslims to wage Jihad, which goes a step beyond what has been reported before in online Jihadist chatter.

Order has been restored in the U.K. for now. But riots could spark again any day, and if Sheikh Maqdisi has his way,  the next time police could find themselves facing off against left-wing radicals arm-in-arm with Jihadists.

      BTW – Thank you for serving. I was born in 68 (doesn’t matter, just coincidence). It seems like guys from your generation on back to WWII (family friend is a retired Colonel, 82nd Airborne on D-Day, Korea, & Vietnam) all are appreciative when acknowledged. However, I ALWAYS thank guys that are recognizable as having served. At the range, I thanked 3 young guys. They reluctantly shaked my hand but then laughed at me as I walked away.

      What’s the difference in the less than 30 yr old guys?

      Granted, I have a pony tail, but am conservative in most every respect. I’m here, right?

      I agree with the generational thing. I was born in 63 and served 4 years in the Navy. I had a chance to interview a WWII Navy vet for a piece I wrote for last year’s Memorial Day. He was in Hiroshima when there were still bodies on the ground. I asked him if patriotism was down from his day. ALMOST A YEAR AND A HALF AGO he said it’s hard to be patriotic when you have a communist in the White House. It’s funny how the WWII vets and the cold war vets (like myself) recognize communism or whatever ism you want to call it, and these young upstarts can’t.

      Its not going to happen Matt. I have said this a couple times they, muslim community, must approve of everything going on b/c there has been no major voice from them condemning the actions and words from the radicals.

      Aside from the handful that have spoken up like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser the majority of the muslim community is silent. Has anyone stopped and asked WHY? This has been going on for years and is getting worse by the year still silence remains. When one associated with Christianity speaks out deemed radical the Christian community takes action. Perfect example was with Pastor Terry Jones over his move to burn the Koran. Other denominations within the Christian community spoke out against him. We NEVER see this from muslims…. EVER.

      2 reasons as to why: If they are silent out of fear of retaliation its even more reason to speak and then expose the radicals within their own. OR As I stated they have no problem with what is going on and approve!

    In years past (I’m 70) a lot of young smart kids were encouraged to learn Russian so we could have a cadre of folks who could help in case of war. In WWII we did the same with German and Japanese.

      Please re-read the post you commented on. It’s not for accomodation, it’s preparation for war. People need to wake the hell up & call it what it is. “The Art of War”, READ IT. Realize that guerilla warfare is the order of this new century. Nobody, NOBODY is going to roll up on our shores with tanks.

      They WILL breed (Islam promotes 6-8 children). The Hispanic cultures breed. Not so with the “rest of the world”. Wars can be won that way and by changing culture (politics, education, laws, politically corrrect behaviors).

      So, YES, knowing languages of our enemies is a paramount strategy. Do you mean to tell us that you were unaware of how difficult code deciphering is/was during WWII because so few U.S. citizens knew German or Japanese. You don’t think our boys are having trouble in Afghanistan & Iraq because of a lack of language & cultural knowledge?

      There’s lots of books on tactics, strategy, & grand strategy. It‘s difficult reading but you’ll gain a better understanding of the world we live in & how it really works.

      for a Good laugh, please view Politico.com article on retsoring the American dream ( of home ownership)… within their argument, citing 20 percent down, your investment in a $200,000 home, will FARRRRRRR outweigh any other investment you could make with the $40,000 you need to actually buy it. ( unfortunately, the author of the article figured that 20 pct down equaled $20,000…my math says thats 10 pct.. am I wrong?) secondly, she assumes that your house valuations will rise at 1999-2006 rates ( erronoeous assumption, based on our 10 year CBO projections of 8-10 pct unemployment rates, and long term depressed economy, and projected drops in Income per household… she failed to incorporate that the dual income families are dropping, elevated rates of divorce, which cuts the ability to own homes through forced alimony payments and child support mandates on either spouse… etc) and thirdly, she doesnt include costs of home mainentance, and the burden of rising city taxes and eventual hikes in interest rates over the next five years. Other than that? sure, Homeownership is a sweet deal in the long run.
