Jobless Benefits Claims Rise Again to 427,000

(The Blaze/AP) — The number of people seeking unemployment rose again this week, stuck at a high level that suggests a slowing job market.
The Labor Department says 427,000 people applied for unemployment benefits last week, up 1,000 from the previous week. The figures are seasonally adjusted.
The four-week average, a less volatile measure, dipped to 424,000, its third straight drop. Still, the level is higher than at the beginning of the year.
Applications have been above 400,000 for the past nine weeks. It is one of many signs that the economy has faltered from earlier this year, when hiring was picking up and many economists expected growth to accelerate. Applications typically must dip below 375,000 to signal sustainable job growth. They peaked during the recession at 659,000.

Posted on June 9, 2011 at 9:32amOBAMAeconomics is toilet stuff. Keynesian theory is poo poo. Throwing money, good after good after good has never worked. That is why the central planning of communism failed. Free, open capitalism is the only way this country will get out of its funk. OBAMA being the product of communist adults does not get or understand this. All these central planners believe they have the one trick pony. The one way that hasn’t been tried yet. They were not the MASTER PLANNER in past attempts, to make Keynesian work. IT WILL NOT. THE USA IS NOT EUROPE! MOST OF US BELIEVE YOU REAP THE BENEFITS OF YOUR OWN HARD WORK. JUST LEAVE US ALONE AND WE WILL BE FINE!

Report Post »2) This is good news for Obama, less people working means more people dependent on the government (and him) for sustenance! Watch for food riots and job riots this Summer in a US city near you! then watch for suspension of the Constitution and martial law after that.
Elections, we don‘t need no stinkin’ elections!

Posted on June 9, 2011 at 9:44amI would agree and suggest that the reason the O got us into Libya, but not Syria, Yemen, Egypt, Bahrain is that he wants as much of the military out of the country this summer as possible. He and the majority of the people on the left do not think that should there be riots and disruption that they can count on the military to come down on their side.

Posted on June 9, 2011 at 8:58am@Ironeagle:
I would LOVE seeing that happen, televised on full and live TV. Yet as long as the left controls the Senate, it is not very likely to happen…not unless there is a majorly vested interest in them using him as a judas goat to further their own agenda…THEY would do so out of political expediency if it needed to happen.
The thing I have to wonder about at times, is Mr Obama set up from the start as a ‘failed POTUS’ so that anyone coming up next – from the progressive view – will be seen as a ‘better’ option and have a chance for them to hold onto power by any means?

Posted on June 9, 2011 at 10:29amYep you keep focusing on Obama, while the Republicans keep signing one way trade deals under the guise of free trade and the titans of capitalism continue to ship jobs overseas. The current economic issues facing the US began with the Reagan’s policies, continued by Bush Sr. and other than a boom under Clinton, where continued under Bush Jr. which led us to here. Real wages have falling in the US since Regan, again other than an upturn under Clinton. The problems we face today go back to the ’80s and are deep seated.
