Vice President Joe Biden telephoned Rep. Paul Ryan on Saturday to congratulate him on his selection as Mitt Romney’s running mate and to “welcome him to the race,” the Obama campaign announced.
The campaign said Biden “urged Congressman Ryan to enjoy the day with his family, and said he looked forward to engaging him on the clear choice voters face this November.”
Biden and Ryan are set to face off in one debate before Election Day.
As The Hill noted, Biden has previously had kind words for Ryan, calling him “a bright, handsome guy from the state of Wisconsin. He’s a fine guy” during a speech in June. The vice president quickly added, “I think his ideas are not nearly as fine as he is a man.”
It’s a far different characterization from the “radical” and “extreme” tone the Obama campaign set immediately after Ryan’s announcement.
Romney formally introduced the House Budget Committee chairman as his vice presidential pick on Saturday morning. The two were attending campaign events in Virginia throughout the day and embarking on a multi-state bus tour.

I wholly accept your question. Actually, we have discssed this before – although i don’t know if you were interested in the conversation or the bashing….
As I have always said – I had serious problems with the Ron Paul / Romney dynamic. It was a big mistake. I think Romney played nice with Ron in 2008 and so Ron Paul did everything to avoid a confrontation in 2012.
I am Virginian – Ron Paul got 40% in Virginia without spending more than a nickel and a single campaign appearance. If Ron could have beat Romney in Virginia, Romney would have NEVER won the nomination. Believe me, I had SERIOUS questions about Ron Paul’s campaign strategy.

Posted on August 11, 2012 at 11:33pmQuincy – Soy and I may not agree on politics, but he/she has some of the smartest and thoughtful comments on here. And soy is right about Ryan. Why would the GOP waste one of their most talented reps on the VP spot. He’ll have very little to do with policy change. And I truly don’t think his being on the repub ticket will make as big of a difference as you think it will with the independents, elderly, minorities, and other key voters.

Posted on August 11, 2012 at 2:37pmThe left does not race; they sabatoge. Every word spoken by opponents is twisted, or taken out of contex. Every gesture, every look, every postive thing is turned into a negative. These people say bad is good and good is bad. They reek of evil. They feed from anger and hate. They lie to produce what they think will be results that enable them for yet awhile. Their offenses are made to look like they are defending those who are in truth being used as a buffer from the truth. They have a plan to destroy. Even while they appear to want democracy they promote hedonism and chaos. The end justifies their means to attain their agenda. Their agenda is to control and be the elitists where they demand but do not earn respect. They fight street, but want to appear as something they are not and that would be fit as leaders of people.

Posted on August 11, 2012 at 2:16pmRyan rocks! America, it’s time to restore economic sanity, limited government and obey the Constitution!
Let’s undo the damage caused by the commie usurper Obama and his treasonous cohorts in Congress.
Obama loathes our Constitutional republic and individual rights.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, … that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, … Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” – Declaration of Independence
Obama routinely omits ‘Creator’ when speaking of unalienable rights.
No “Creator” = no unalienable rights!
Conservatives must stop omitting Art 2, Sec 1, of the Constitution when speaking of Obama!
“The usurper Obama is not eligible for multiple reasons including:
1. Failure to be a “natural born citizen” as required by Article 2, Section 1.
2. Being born a British citizen pursuant to British Nationality Act of 1948.
3. Law enforcement investigators have concluded his birth certificate is fraudulent.”[1]
“If you voted for Obama to prove you’re not a racist,
you‘ll have to vote for someone else in 2012 to prove you’re not an idiot.” – unknown.
